Skills: One of Zane's best kept secrets is his singing ability, something he'd only ever shared with his mother. It isn't something he likes to broadcast, as it could be considered an effeminate talent. It also doesn't help that most of his favorite songs to sing along to are by female artists.

Describe Yourself in this Portion: Imagine a five year old hyped up on sugar and caffeine, and you've got a basic idea of Zane Durante on a good day. Prior to his arrest, he was renowned for being a hopeless optimist and always trying to look on the bright side of a situation. He seemed to have an almost unlimited store of energy, and it's probably safe to assume that he should be on and ADD medication. Since his release from jail, though, he's trained himself to tone it down a little (or a lot) in order to stay under the radar, not wanting to end up behind bars again. While he's still a friendly and energetic guy, he can also be guarded and even paranoid when he suspects he might be doing something that "normal" people would consider out of the ordinary.

Family Life: Zane is the middle child of three, with an older brother and a twin sister ten minutes younger than himself. When he was younger, he had a very close relationship with his mother, Audrey, who was very supportive of all of his little quirks. Unfortunately, she died of breast cancer when he was seven, leaving him in the care of his far less accepting father. Even before the social reform, Simon Lowell had been a strong opponent all "unnatural" behavior, and his oldest son, Trevor, sided with him on this. While Trevor would constantly bully Zane about his gender confusion as a kid, Simon would just give him a disappointed look and turn a blind eye, which actually hurt even more sometimes. Only Zane's sister, Zoe, remains supportive of who he is, but refrains from doing so in public for fear of being considered a rebel. In spite of this, Zane understands her silence, and she remains his closest relative and friend.

Normal Attire: Zane is definitely a bit of an odd bird when it comes to fashion, especially as far as social norms are concerned. His favorite color scheme is black with random bursts of neon color here and there, and he has a penchant for fishnet and skinny jeans. Two years previously, he'd managed to find a guy who would pierce him up a bit without ratting him out to the cops. Zane has six piercings in all; navel, tongue, left eyebrow, and left ear (two hoops and a stud). He also enjoys dying streaks of color into his hair, especially orange, green, and violet.

School Attire: Males aren't permitted to wear piercings on campus, but he still keeps his navel ring and tongue stud because they're easiest to conceal (and, admittedly, hardest to remove). Zane's school wardrobe consists of slightly baggy slacks and button down shirts, the latter of which are all either white or some shade of blue.

-Previously, his hair was cut short on the left and long on the right. After his arrest, though, his hair was shaved down to a uniform, "gender appropriate" length. It's grown back over the past few months, but he still has to keep it a certain length according to his parole.

Your Crime(s): Partaking in illicit homosexual activity--Basically he was caught kissing a guy. The boy he was with was the son of a government official, so he got off with a stern talking-to from his father. Zane, unfortunately, didn't get off so easily, as his fellow "criminal" claimed the act was forced upon him. This was a lie, of course, but obviously Zane didn't have a lot of luck convincing the police otherwise.

Stay in Jail and How You were Enrolled in this Academy: After eight months in jail, Zane's sister finally convinced him to "repent" so he could be released. In order to assure that he'd really changed his ways, as well as to make up for missing his senior year while in prison, he was enrolled in XY as part of his parole.
