Forgive me for my nosiness, but I see how this can work. I also have a pyromancer for a character with a very similar back story. Perhaps he could act as his teacher, to teach him the way of the True Flame, since at one point he becomes the heir of the God of Fire. I'm not sure what kind of characters you want for this, so that's my suggestion. It might give it some real depth.
