Luto Goldmind's Story

Upon being collided with Dani fell to the ground, her hands scraping against the concrete as she unexpectedly found herself sitting on the ground. "What the hell," she snarled out while casting her gaze upwards. The figure above her blotted out the sun, despite that, Dani wasn't intimidated whatsoever. Standing up she thrust her palm forward, pointing at it with the index finger of her other hand. "You shoved me down and I skinned my hand! What's your problem?"
On a rooftop nearby, an entity was lurking in the scaffolding of a nearby building. The creature's entire attention was trained solely on the human female in front of him. The human collided with another, and suddenly the creature was thrown for a loop. Which one was its target?

Dani slapped the newcomer's hand away. "You shove me to the ground and want to act like its nothing?" 'What a crap day,' she thought to herself. Someone almost twice my size shoves me to the ground and they want to make right with half an apology. Tears almost welled up in her eyes as she stared at Luto. However, she refused to cry, "Don't give me your hand like you didn't just rudely shove me to the floor..."
Dani's eyes suddenly snapped to the building to her right, something was looking at them. Something horrible had its eyes trained on her and Luto. "Um... There is..." She didn't have time to finish explaining, as the creature had already began its hunt.

Dani felt the world spring into motion as Luto shoved herself between the monster and her. The crack of gunfire split the quiet city and without thinking, Dani found herself acting. The tall and bandaged girl must have had nearly two feet of height on Dani, but she had done more with less.
Putting a hand on Luto's shoulder, Dani flung herself into the air, using Luto's back as a springboard. Soaring nearly twenty feet into the air, she grabbed the knife out of her shoe and flicked it open. Flipping through the air, Dani converted all her momentum downward, where the knife point was held out. With a grunt of effort, she drove the knife into the base of the creature's neck.
The monster roared, raising itself to its full height and desperately trying to dislodge the knife from its spine. Dani clung to the knife for dear life, "Kill it! Hurry up and kill it!" She couldn't hold on much longer.

Despite the creature having been dispatched, Dani simply clung to the knife, desperately trying to catch her breath. She became faintly aware that Luto was talking to her. Slowly her wits returned and Dani looked at Luto, "W-what was that?" The knife was firmly lodged into the creature's lumbar, and no amount of tugging seemed able to pry it loose. Flustered, Dani gave up on the knife and stood up.
Luto was spattered with the creature's gore, likely due to her ripping it in half with her bare hands. After only a few seconds, Dani's composure returned "And who the hell are you? You practically shoved your hand down that thing's throat and ripped its heart out." Looking up at Luto, Dani finally realized, "You're the tallest person I've ever met. Are you even human?"
Luto was spattered with the creature's gore, likely due to her ripping it in half with her bare hands. After only a few seconds, Dani's composure returned "And who the hell are you? You practically shoved your hand down that thing's throat and ripped its heart out." Looking up at Luto, Dani finally realized, "You're the tallest person I've ever met. Are you even human?"
Dani watched with interest as Luto fished her knife out of the creature's back, still not entirely convinced Luto wasn't some sort of Giant or something. Only after Luto held out the knife did Dani answer, "Dani. Dani Rhorer." She snatched the knife from Luto, flicked the gore off of it, and closed the blade, sliding it back into her shoe.
Putting her hands on her hips Dani looked up at Luto, "You still didn't answer my first question. Just what the hell is this thing?" Her tone became slightly accusatory as she continued, "You didn't seem phased by it. Are you some kind of monster hunter?" Dani analyzed the girl in front of her, starting with her imposing height, all the way down to her battered body. "You look like one."
Putting her hands on her hips Dani looked up at Luto, "You still didn't answer my first question. Just what the hell is this thing?" Her tone became slightly accusatory as she continued, "You didn't seem phased by it. Are you some kind of monster hunter?" Dani analyzed the girl in front of her, starting with her imposing height, all the way down to her battered body. "You look like one."
Uncertain if she should believe the strange girl, Dani decided that Luto had saved her life even though she didn't have to, so she was trustworthy enough. "So kind of like the legend of Abdul Alhazred? From my understanding he wrote the Necronomicon and was eaten by an invisible monster in broad daylight over a millennia ago." For whatever reason, being able to relate what happened to her own knowledge was incredibly calming to Dani.
Dani analyzed Luto once again, this time calmly. Luto was a wanderer, probably the type of person who wouldn't make a fuss about skipping a meal. Some of her bandages looked like they should have been changed days ago. Despite that, she seemed less put together than her demeanor would suggest. A pang resounded in Dani's heart.
Dani nodded after coming to a decision, "Okay, let's go back to my house. We'll get you cleaned up and I've got some cigarettes hidden in my closet." Without waiting for a response, Dani began walking home, calling back over her shoulder, "Can you cook? I'd make us something to eat, but I once started a kitchen fire trying to make cereal."

Dani and Luto walked for about half an hour before reaching her house. The house her parents had bought was large enough that Dani rarely saw her mother or father. Running up the steps, she opened the door and signaled for Luto to follow her in. Once Luto was inside, Dani led her into the kitchen and pointed out where the food, dishes, and spices were. "You can make something to eat, for now, I'll gather up a first aid kit."
Running upstairs, Dani disappeared for five minutes. She reappeared in the kitchen carrying a sky blue box of cigarettes, "Here. I smoke these sometimes when I'm trying to be calm in crowds." Then Dani left again, looking for the lidocaine spray that she knew was in the house somewhere.

Luto's cooking was coming to a finish, and suddenly Dani found herself back in the kitchen with her newly made first-aid kit. "You're quite the cook!" Grabbing a fork, Dani picked up a piece of Luto's cooking and popped it in her mouth. Her eyes darted to Luto's face, "You're an amazing cook."
Dani ate her fill and then went to work on Luto's many injuries. "Your right hand is really messed up." Cutting the bandages off, Dani started to snip the threadwork that was holding her hand together. "You'll need better threading if you're going to keep... Well... Doing what you do." Carefully, Dani began to stitch Luto's hand back together, this time with careful precision.
Dani ate her fill and then went to work on Luto's many injuries. "Your right hand is really messed up." Cutting the bandages off, Dani started to snip the threadwork that was holding her hand together. "You'll need better threading if you're going to keep... Well... Doing what you do." Carefully, Dani began to stitch Luto's hand back together, this time with careful precision.
When she was finished Dani fished out the can of lidocaine and sprayed Luto's hands with it. "I'm honestly surprised you can still articulate your hands as you do. I had a friend who got stabbed through the palm and since then they can only move their index finger now." Stopping to admire her handiwork, Dani clapped her hands together, "I should be a nurse!"
Grabbing her scissors, moved up from where she had finished, starting to cut the bandages off Luto's right arm. "Wow. These are literally crusted over with blood. Have they ever been changed?"

Dani nodded at Luto as she worked, “Acupuncture is supposed to do wonders for your body! Though i’d never try it myself. Dont like needles.” After a few minutes the dirty bandages on both arms were removed and discarded. “Oh!” Dani frowned, “You should probably get washed up before i put the new bandages on.”
Looking at Luto’s already re-bandaged hand, Dani smiled sheepishly, “You can just wear showercaps around your hands.” Grabbing her by the wrist, Dani led Luto to the bathroom down the hall. “Towels are under the sink and feel free to use any beauty products you want. The orange facial scrub will clear your pores right up!”

There had to be something that would mostly fit her, it was just a matter of finding it. After checking several rooms, Dani found an oversized sweatshirt with matching sweatpants. "They will have to do!" Throwing the clothes onto a hanger, she returned to Luto.
Knocking on the door, Dani hung the clothes on the doorknob, "Whenever you're done, there is a change of clothes hanging here for you. No rush!" Running back to her room, Dani hastily made her room up for a sleepover.

Dani stopped fluffing her pillows and turned around in slight shock, “Luto! You look...” She eyed the tall girl for a moment, “Well they don’t quite fit but it’s kind of trendy! If you put some cute socks on and pulled them all the way up it’d be a fit!”
Shaking her head she continued, “Anyways come in! You can stay the night here. In the morning I want to introduce you to some friends of mine!” Smiling wildly, Dani gestured to where she had thrown so many blankets and pillows on the floor that the makeshift bed seemed more like a nest.

The morning sun was peaking through the blinds, causing Dani's eyes to flutter. With a groan, she rolled over and threw the sheets over her head. "Five more minutes." She grumbled while fighting against waking up. It's not like she had anything to do today. She just had to- "Luto."
The tall girl wasn't in the room anymore. Dani fumbled her way out of bed, flopping to the floor in a bundle of blankets. Once she finally got free she leaped to her feet and ran out of her room and straight into Luto's back. Falling on her butt, Dani looked up at her, "How'd you sleep?" She smiled sheepishly

Dani let herself be helped up, "Can't complain. I had a weird dream about a giant crab wearing loafers, but other than that!" Dani ran a hand through her hair, brushing it away from her face. "If you'd like, you can head to the kitchen and start on breakfast! I'm going to get dressed, then we'll go meet my friends!" Turning around, Dani headed back into her room and walked into her closet while deciding what to wear.
After about ten minutes Dani found something she liked and put it on. She took a few moments to check her outfit out in the mirror, "Nice!" She had an oversized hoodie on with fairly tight jeans that had a decent stretch to them. Grabbing her keys off her nightstand, Dani felt ready to take on the day. Running downstairs, Dani had a light skip in her step as she made her way into the kitchen.
"French Toast!" It had been awhile since Dani had french toast, maybe a few years, or longer. Her mom didn't really cook anymore, and she never had breakfast when she went to restaurants. Without waiting for an invitation, Dani began to scarf down the food. "Did you eat already? We're going to have a long day."

Dani nodded acknowledgment as she finished her food. Luto glanced at her ruined clothes and Dani knew immediately what she was thinking. "Don't worry about it. We'll stop along the way and buy you some clothes." Standing up, Dani dropped her dishes into the sink and grabbed Luto's sweatshirt. Pulling Luto after her, Dani made her way to the garage to grab her car.
Opening the passenger side door, Dani practically pushed Luto in. Running around the car, she got into the driver's seat and started the engine. "Where do you shop? I think there is an outlet mall along the way, we can stop there!" The garage door opened and she peeled out of the driveway, racing past the stop sign on the corner.

Dani rolled her eyes as she sped to the outlets, "Just some friends I made some time ago. They're pretty cool, you'll see what I mean when you meet them." After only a few minutes the car skidded to a halt in front of the outlets. "Well start in Guess! Your old clothes looked like something you could find in Guess." Dani hopped out of the car and started towards the store.
Dani followed Luto from a short distance away, giggling slightly when she saw Luto's enthusiasm. "Oh look they're even long enough to fit you. Find a top to go with it and..." Dani looked down at Luto's feet, "Maybe some shoes too, something you can run in."
Dani shrugged her shoulders, "You can find anything at the outlets. Just gotta look hard enough." The duo made there way back to the car and the sporty little vehicle roared to life as Dani abused the engine by trying to push it to top speed as they raced into town.

Ignoring the sign, Dani walked up to the gate and used a key on her keyring to unlock the gate. "Come on! But be cool, these are my friends and they don't like geeks."
Inside the warehouse there were ten people, lounging about what appeared to be a makeshift clubhouse. Oil drums and pallets lay scattered about, and a makeshift table made out of a wire spool sat in the middle of the room. Five of the people were at the spool playing some sort of card game.
A man with a neon green mohawk looked at Luto and Dani, "Well well well, look who it is. Bringing in new blood?"
Dani snorted, "You wouldn't know new blood even if you finally got your period. This is my friend Luto." Dani turned back to Luto and gestured, "Well make nice you guys."
