SlenderMan

"we didn't want to go, we didn't want to kill them, but its persistent silence and outstretched arms horrified and comforted us at the same time..."

Description

Slenderman's basic attributes vary greatly, however several basic traits are typical of his behavior. He is shown to behave in a very passive aggressive manner, stalking targets for years at a time, torturing his target mentally for various unknown reasons. He is rarely ever shown in a benevolent light and is typically shown as a malevolent force. This behavioral pattern has an uncertain reasoning behind it, and exactly why he behaves in such a way has yet to be fully ascertained.

The most important factor about Slenderman is the mystery. He lives unlike any human being despite having a similar appearance to one. It is uncertain if he is social, or even understands languages or behaviors, nor why it is humans appear to be his main target. His targets will typically behave in off ways as if possessed (Proxy), but whether their psychosis is causing them to speak for him or for themselves isn't entirely certain either.

Slenderman's appearance is variable as the years go on, but as of to date the most recent appearance is that of an abnormally tall human with long arms and no face whom is wearing a business suit. Again it is uncertain if his suit is real cloth or some form of skin molded into such an appearance. If it is the former, this would imply an intelligent being attempting to try to blend in. If it is the latter, it shows a being whom is extremely adaptive and evolves to match his environment and stick out less, or more.

Slenderman's appearance provokes a wide range of responses, the most common being fear. This is partially due to his extremely towering size over a full grown adult, which mimics the childhood fear of adult humans bigger than the child. His behavior also factors into it. Finally, the main fact is he is completely unable to be described in human terms. While a description in words can be given, human language lacks the ability to truly define the entity until such a time as when humans can interact with him (if at all possible). This problem stems from the fact that he operates in a plane of existence further from humans.

So begins...

A figure haunted outside the window of the bar, staring at a woman. He did not move. Only stood there. The faceless figure—which was only noticeable as a man in the first place was due to lacking structures—just peered at Jacey Dizzario.

He was stalking her.

And had been for sometime now.

The only person that would see him, was her.

No one else.

He was...

Slenderman.

The faceless man remained standing there. Not moving a single inch. He didn't need to do so. He wanted her to see him. To feel that paranoia and fear settle in, but in time. First would come the curiosity to seek him out, to know who this person was. But Jacey Dizzario would come to know all too well soon enough.

For now, he just remained.

Standing outside the window.

Light dimly pouring over him, giving just enough to silhouette him.

He just watched.

A tilt of the head was her reward for approaching him. Sickness would creep upon the woman, in a few days time she would develop a cough and feel weakness crawling into her limbs. Though it would only seem like nothing more than a simple cold. It was the effect when one dealt with...

When she asked him questions, he did not reply. A man with no face could not.

He walked out of the view of the window.

Slenderman appeared to be gone now.

...or was he?

The wall behind the bar gave way to a small nook which lead to the restrooms. It was a dark hallway. A hallway with shadows. Shadows where He was standing again.

Watching.

A snag of fear would most likely start to settle into her now. Surely it was the same man that had been outside just moments ago.

Watching.

Faceless and watching.

Stalking.

His limbs lengthened and into the shadows, unnoticeable now, he rose. Taunt. He wanted to taunt her. To know that at anytime and anywhere He would find her; would find her. This was the face of true evil. Slenderman did not parade around. He did not rely on others. He merely stalked, instilled fear, kidnapped, and murdered.

And he would do this again.

To her.

But first...

... she would know insanity.

No signs of the man were seen.

There was no grabbing.

No touching.

She would not see anyone.

No signs of the man were seen in the shadows. There were no hands to reach out and touch the woman. He did not grab for her body and lure her into the darkness with her. He did indeed feel her terror, feeding on it as would an entity of true terror. The Man did not appear to be there anymore.

But he was...

And he was watching...

Jacey Dizzario would still have that fear of being watched. And her instinct was right.

Oh she could run to wherever she liked but he would be there. He was there...

In the restroom, as Jacey Dizzario entered and the door closed. The mirrors along the wall would reflect a man that was far too tall, far too slim, and with no face. At a distance He would only be noted as a normal business man; blue suit, white shirt, black die...

But for her, He was the epitome of all her fears and paranoia.

SlenderMan watched.

He could be seen outside the window again. Head tilted and watching her...

Just watching his prey.

Such fear she had.

It was beautiful.

If he had a face, The Man would have smiled. But no, he just watched...

SlenderMan waved a hand at him while laughing. Oh such a flatterer he was. It was not helping her ego one bit. "Oh please, Revvy, just call me Kate. No need to call me angel. I am far from being innocent," Kate said playfully before sitting herself in a seat. She spoke up again, "Also, keep calling my beautiful and I fear that you'll just make me more conceited than I am already. That would be bad. No one likes an arrogant woman". Settling herself into the stool, she looked at the selection of alcohol which was growing rather thin. "Hmm..." Kate perched her chin on her knuckles while resting her elbow on the bar, "Since they don't have much here... I suppose just a beer. Ugh, but maybe just one. I have to watch my calories. I can't be fat if I want to be an actress one day".

They thought he was crazy. They thought he was seeing things. He probably was.

Or maybe he wasn't.

Barely visible through the bar window stood an inconspicuous yet malevolent figure. It was incredibly tall and was clad in a well fitted business suit. The being's skin was white as Death, and its face was shapeless, everchaning, and without features. It bore no eyes, yet it watched. It bore no mouth, yet it sneered in anticipation. It bore no ears, yet it heard all. It bore no nose, yet it could sense him nonetheless.

Watching. Waiting. Lurking.

The strange intimidating figure continued to observe Ben with an emotionless and featureless face. Unseen by all but him, it watched with an unnerving patience.

At the demon's statement, the strange being merely snapped its formless face towards him and cocked its head to the side. It spoke no words - only stared with an eyeless gaze.

A long, bony, yet incredibly strong hand clamped onto Rose's wrist. The hand was attached to a slender gangly arm wrapped in black cloth. Standing directly behind Simon was an inconspicuous figure. It was incredibly tall and was clad in a well fitted business suit. The being's skin was white as Death, and its face was shapeless, ever changing, and without features. It bore no eyes, yet it watched. It bore no mouth, yet it sneered in anticipation. It bore no ears, yet it heard all. It bore no nose, yet it could sense them nonetheless.

An eerie and maddening aura surrounded him. It was neither malevolent or benevolent, yet both.

As the strange being's presence persisted, the lights in the room started to flicker. A growing aura of intense anxiety flowed through the air, yet a bony hand rested comfortingly on Simon. It was like the hand of a father protecting his child, or a deranged sociopath wrapping his fingers around the new prey.

The being slowly tilted his head to look at Seraphiel and Hal with its eyeless gaze. Its unnerving silence was unsettling - almost horrifying - for the normal person. Slenderman simply stared with its featureless face.

"It is time for Simon to come home..." resonated a ghostly disembodied voice. "Siiimmmmooonnnn...."" the being's hand gently grabbed his arm. There was very little force behind the grip. "It's time to go now, child."

The being's face remained void of emotion. It was the picture of neutrality. Slenderman's arm effortlessly slid out of the Seraph's grip. He stood there, watching the intervention, with indifference.

Suddenly, he was gone. When Simon turned, he was there. Slenderman stood only two of his strides away from the boy.

Watching. Waiting. Lurking.

"Shadows loom over his future. He will return home, either freely and at peace or in terror and agony. The Operator has identified his mark - and his mark he shall be. The Pale One shall return to claim his prize - to rescue his child. So he shall be."

As his multilayered voice echoed, his eyeless sockets remained fixed on Simon.

Suddenly, he was gone.

Or was he?
