Starving, hysterical, naked, the Redeemers took in your depraved body and raised you to destroy the Demoni which gives rise to heinous fruits. But their creator, Dominatio, has made his move. In a monumental strike, he has slain his fellow god Sapentia and moves to strike down each of the ruling demi-gods, her children, after her. His repulsive Darkseed has erupted all over the world in festering hoards, turning entire civilizations into frenzied, rippling sea of madness and abominable monstrosity.

Now you must drag yourself from the depths of the ocean to the heights of the cerulean skies if you wish for life to continue on earth. You must drag what is left of your humanity through hell and plunge your sword deep into Demonotio's mangled heart.

"Story! Story! Story!" the voices of the children could be heard loud and clear as they clamored around a man so old it seemed he might burst into dust if one of them touched him.

"Alright, alright," he agreed begrudgingly. His voice was deep and gravely, and it seemed he croaked and growled his words more than spoke them. "Gather round the fire, where it is warm," he hobbled over to a large comfortable chair seated right next to the hearth and the children settled around his feet. [b]"Now don't get too close, I don't want your grubbby fingers touching me. And sit still,"
        he growled.
"So a story is what you want, is it?" He muttered more to himself than to the children, yet the excitedly nodded their heads in response anyway. Apparently this was part of a routine that they did often enough where they knew they musn't speak outloud.

"A story. I know a story. Long, long ago," the elderly man's voice rumbled, eyeing each of the children somberly to create a sinister mood, "There were two gods." The children were watching the old man's face attentively, "One was inheritely good, and her name was Sapentia. She was beautiful, gentle, and kind. All the beings on earth loved her dearly because she loved them. But," he paused, raising his wild white eyebrows, his voice grew quiet, "there was another being! And this being was very evil. His name was Dominatio, and he hated the earth and lived in constant agony. Sapentia grew so very sad for Dominatio, for she loved every entity. She wept over the earth for him, and each tear was a small part of her soul. They each became a child, a demi-god that would rule over the ten kingdoms of the world. The demi-gods were benevolent beings, who treated the humans kindly. We flocked to their cities for safety, for out in the wild it was growing very dangerous. Dominatio, unlike the others, despiesed the humans. His rage festered within him, tearing his soul apart. His hatred became so great, that it physically manifested itself into terrible beings, horrifying creatures that could paralyze a man with fear. These monsters were hell-bent on destroying all the living things on the earth's surface. The monsters ravaged every creature they came across, slaughtering everything and feeding upon their flesh while their screams echoed across the land."

"That's so scary! Who will protect us?" a child chimed, hiding her terrified face so that only her wide eyes appeared from behind tense fat fingers.

"Shut up and listen!" the old man snapped fiercely. Silence fell over the group as they awaited his next words, wishing them forth with all their might. "Now," he mused finally, "Where were we? Ah, yes. The monsters!" he growled, lifting clawed hands above his head in the attempts to seem frightening. Behind him, the fire cackled, almost at him. "If Sapentia were to ever leave us," he continued somberly, lowering his hands and placing them on his knees so he might lean foward towards the children, "we would all surely be doomed--devoured by hoards of the monsters, tormented and mutilated by their constant clawing and the gnashing of their hideous teeth." He paused once more, to allow the terror to settle deep within the childrens' bones. "But, there are those that would sacrifice themselves to save us," he added finally, "there are knights who will rise up, warriors with extraordinary power, some say chosen by Serpentia herself, who are charged with protecting the world from the dark monsters."

"Is that true?" the young girl chimed again, clearly unaffected by the gruff old man's previous admonishments.

"Of course not!" he glowered, gnarled hand reaching over and cuffing the back of her head, "These are just fantasies, none of it could possibly be true! That's it! No more stories! Clearly you can't handle it without being swallowed up by the tales!" There was an audible groan from the children, as they focussed their disappointment on the youngest of them. The old man seemed to not notice their sorrow, and he abruptly stood and walked away, surprisingly spiretely for a man of his age, disappearing into the shadows.

Image
Twenty years ago, the world was plunged into discord with Dominatio's murdering of Sapentia, causing the onslaught of hordes of Demoni and festering of evil in the world. Dominatio is rampaging, spawning putrid children and even transforming regular humans into creatures themselves with the infusion of Demoni blood. He plans to rid the world of all other life, and intends on killing all 10 of Sapienta's children first. Three of these demi-gods and the kingdoms they lead have been swamped, two of the leaders killed, the last one has been missing ever since.

You play as a Redeemer, a warrior, both savior and monster. Redeemers are humans gifted with special abilities, allowing them and them alone to kill Demoni. What makes them different from all other citizens? They were recruited into the Redeemers--a last chance scenario only offered to those with no hope of redemption. Those who don't even have the strength to save themselves anymore. They were orphans with no mortal ties, wounded soldiers a moment from succumbing to death's icy grip, or criminals on death row. Each was given a dose of Demoni blood to ingest, and their soul was plunged into the depths of hell's darkness. Only 30% of the people return human. Those who are rejected by the Demoni's dark power, those who are weak of heart, desire, or will--are ripped to shreds in the soul, mind, and body. They become Abominations, monsters then claimed by Dominatio.

They Redeemers who awaken are able to destroy other Demoni after their transformation. They are given a weapon, armor, rank, and the organization becomes their family. They live what remains of their life from that day on completing quests. There are currently 56 Redeemers alive in the world. Furthermore, besides facing the threat of getting eaten alive by monsters, they also need to worry about becoming one themselves. If a Redeemer overexerts himself, he can become an Abomination, you see.

At this point in the story, all of the Redeemers must report to the nearest recruiter. There is one in each kingdom. You are situated in the largest sect, the kingdom of Litas lead by the god of industry, Litatio. This is an empire acclaimed for its strength and led primarily by humans, though there are despised city elves amongst their ranks. It is considered the center of the world, and little is known about other parts, even little is known about the other kingdoms by you. You are traveling to a ballroom in Vincere, the capital of Litas and a highly aristocratic haven. Only humans are permitted to enter Vincere's gates, and Redeemers are frowned upon as they are part Demoni. The Demoni haven't reached Vincere, and the ignorant humans have even gone so far as to convince themselves that neither the gods nor their children exist, therefore making Redeemers all cons who prey upon the weak of mind, naturally.

You will meet Litas' highest ranked Redeemer, though you do not know why. In reality, he will send you and your fellow warriors off on a nearly impossible mission. You will travel out of Litas' gates and into the kingdoms of other demigods in attempts to save the world from monsters while you try your hardest not to become one yourself. The rest shall be history.

Hello there! Welcome to the roleplay led by your faithful narrorator (Averagebear) and my co-gm-and-founder, onetrickpony. I want to spend a little bit of time addressing the universe this is in as well as how the roleplay will be run. The World (appropriately named, I know) is set in a distant past in a distant dimmension, filled with strange races and creatures and varying cultures. Though it strangely parrelels an earthly midevil feel, it's obviously not quite the same, what with gods and monsters running amok. Think almost Lord of the Rings or Oblivion if you need direct comparisons, but there will striking differences. There is no magic, per say, and while the Redeemers do posses special abilities, no one can conjur up fire or use telepathy.

In this roleplay, the story will be feed to you via me. I'll be the narrorator playing NPCs as well as Demoni as well as explaining the setting and chugging the plot along. Essentially, you'll be nearly as blind as your character, which I find rather exciting. We have a long story arch as well as quite a few twists and turns to throw at you and I assure you that you shall not be bored throughout this. I will play one character, a little girl named Nica who will guide your characters on their quest around The World. She'll tell the troupe (of about 10 Redeemers, mind you) what she knows about each land and demi-god along the way. Basically, you should just worry about iterracting with one another and focus on character growth, as the rest is up to me! It'll be almost like playing a video game only with considerably more writing.

The roleplayers will be picked based on their character's potential input rather than a first-come-first-serve basis. After you submit your character, onetrickpony and I will review it with one another and then give you constructive criticism before you will be accepted into the roleplay. If a person becomes inactive or their character dies, we will fill the slot with another capable applicant that'll be switched into the party. So if you aren't accepted at first, just be patient, my child.

When Redeemers are created, they fall into a certain class. Their class sign is embroidered on their uniform in some place, whether hidden or out in the open. Furthermore, in each class, they will become either a defensive or offensive combatant. This is decided by their motive for becoming a Redeemer. Should they have become one for either revenge or to protect certain individuals, they are offensive. Should they have done so under the intentions of being able to continue living or to save their soul, they are defensive.

        TANK
ImageThese men and women come back from the induction ceromony practically twice their original size, shooting up in height and bulking up with muscles. They're typically in the front line in a battle. Both offensive and defensive tanks give up agility in order to harbor their powers. They may have uncanny strength, generally wielding weapons like giant two-handed swords, axes, and hammers, a single deafening blow does tremendous damage on the field, though it takes them twice as long as other combatants to swing their mighty weapons. There is a legend that one warrior once took off the heads of twelve Darkseed with one swing of his mighty sword. Tanks are able to withstand unbelievable amounts of damage without falter, blows that might normally hack a person's limb off doing no more than graze their super-strengthened skin. Opponents end up feeling like inadequate children in the face of their mighty strength. Their skin has hardened to something like a shell, and most blows are deflected right off their hides.

      SENSERS
      Image
Individuals who awaken as sensers almost always come to screaming, tearing at the offending orifices. Their senses become hyper-sensative, and some misunderstand their abilities as psychic because they can read others so well. While a Senser is tapping into the power of one or more sense, they often lose the ability of another sense. For example, a Senser using increased hearing might go blind for the duration that it is in effect, or perhaps a Senser who has activated their sight might be unable to feel. All Sensers have very low defenses, so they tend to stick to ranged weapons such as cross-bows. Their near psychic ability on the battle feild is absolutely necessary, for one blow might wound them fatally. Luckily, they exist as ghosts on the feild, staying back and if a creature were even able to get close to do an attacked they are often able to avoid blows with intense concentration long enough to take an enemy down with a well placed arrow through the eye.

    MANIPULATORS
    Image
The eerie contortionists of the bunch, manipulators can bend and break their bones to acheive unnatural movements with their body. Allowing for strange movements and unique battle techniques, they can often move their arms as gellotinous tentacles. These moves are typically unheard of and hard to predict, giving them an advantage in the battle field. This is a high energy consumption, so sustained movements aren't possible, and there is a high risk of becoming an Abomination if you were to push your powers too far. Some manipulators are able to move their body in such a way to give increases to attack potential. There is a legend of an warrior who is able to move their sword so quickly that it seems to ripple before her opponents--they are never able to see it in order to deflect it, as it skillfully moves around any defensive moves that could deflect it. This cateegory is able to avoid attacks very well by breaking their body, contorting away from attacks. If a bone were to be crushed by an enemy, it could quickly repair itself with a cost to their energy levels.

MAGNIFIERS
Image
These warriors have an interesting ability to overexert a certain humanistic quality. A magnifier might be able to regenerate all wounds- an extension of the human's natural way to heal over time. They are lacking in strength and are usually not heavily armored, but their ability usually makes up for it. When magnifying, they take significant blows to other areas. If they were to be moving exceptionally fast, they might become exceptionally weak and a single bow may be fatal. Some magnifiers have been known to reattach cut off limbs, move at the speed of light, jump extremely far and high.
PARASITICS
Image
One out of twenty Redeemers become what is known as a Parasitic (meaning there's only two in the world). These individuals were more effected by the Demoni blood than their companions, their soul having turned into an Abomination for a split second before they somehow had enough strength to drag themselves back to humanity. Upon returning, the person's weapon comes already attached to their body, though there has never been a projectile weapon- only swords and hammers and such. The Parasitic learns to retract said weapon back into the original body part and with a short amount of time, is able to switch back and forth at will. The effected body part (usually an arm) is noticeacably crystallized in appearance and touch. Upon awakening from the induction, the Parasitic is in extreme, blinding, excruciating pain and this stays with them for the rest of their lives. They simply learn to harness the pain, enduring the steady torture. Either that, or they kill themselves. Yes, these beings possess unheard of self restraint if they're able to function in society while undergoing such phsyical abuse. Strangely enough, Parasitics don't become Abominations easily. It's as if after having already tapped into it, they're able to control their limits and keep themselves from spiraling downward.

Here are some things to take into consideration when creating a character!
RANK: The rank of a Redeemer is actually fairly important. They are given a number between 1 and 56 (the number of Redeemers there are) based on how many Demoni they've killed. Both respect and ridicule is dished out because of a person's rank. You can't make your character anywhere from 1-10 and I don't want everybody crowding in the teens either. Besides, a rank isn't determined by ability, merely by how many you've killed. It's a deceitful number.

RACE: While there are many races in The World, you can choose to be either elven or human. In the kingdom of Litas, you find what you might call "city elves" which are very different from their forested brethren. Elves are taller and thinner than humans, usually more graceful as well. They almost always have light eyes and the typical long ears, though their hair and skin color may vary as opposed to the elves out in the wild who almost always have fair skin and hair. Elves in Litas are treated poorly, not even allowed to enter their kingdom's capital of Vincere without direct orders from the imperium. Humans dominate here, though they are frowned upon in mostly everywhere else, spare two other kingdoms. They are shorter and stockier, though by no means beefy as an ogre or dwarf-ish.

MOTIVATION/ DEFENSIVE VS OFFENSIVE: Your motivation is what decides your type (offensive or defensive). Explain why you became a Redeemer. If it was to save your life or soul, you are defensive. If it was out of vengeance or to protect particular people, you are offensive.

EXPERIENCE: We should have characters ranging from a veteran to a newbie, I feel. Some of you may have never encountered a Demoni before! Some of you may have only killed Demoni but never an Abomination.

WEAPONRY: There are only swords, axes, hammers, maces, daggers, bows, and cross bows. There aren't any guns or staffs. Just run of the mill, metal/wood weapons. Their power comes from their Demoni blood, not their tools.

REPUTATION: How the Redeemers are treated is completely determined by their location and who they're talking to. Some see them as saviors, some as fakes, some as monsters.

KEEP IT INTERESTING: Toss out something unexpected at me! We love interesting characters we've never seen before, so lay it on us if you can.

Erika shrugged, deciding that if he wasn't going to eat, then he wasn't going to eat. No need to force him, as forcing a horse to drink would be drowning it. After finishing their meal they went over to the sink and washed the plate, they'd rather wash it now than have a pile of dirty dishes that no one would want to clean(And they had been in that situation before).

"Seeing as how I'm done and you don't have anything else to eat, I think it's about time that we go," Erika said, going towards the door that lead outside. They grabbed their book bag that was lying beside the door, "I'll be outside," They said, assuming that Koganei would soon follow them. They went a bit slower than usual, since they'd rather not leave their partner too far behind.

Koganei waited for Erika to finish and then after Erika went outside he followed soon after, "Okay let's go..." he said as he began to walk toward there destination, which was known as Shibusen. "So any ideas as to what kind of mission you want to take Erika?" asked Koganei creating some form of smalltalk as they arrived at Shibusen.

Miuka sighed.
"Raven, we have looked through almost every single of these papers... is there really not a single one that you think is good?"
"No", he replied. They had discussed that enough times by now: despite having passed more than half an hour in front of the board, looking at various killing, spying, helping and rescuing missions, despite the sheer number of them being pinned on that board, there was not a single one that was fitting what he was looking for.
"What about this one? Saving a village in Scotland, Europe, which is haunted by two Kishin eggs? We could have a short vacation after that..."
Raven took a quick glance at the mission. "It's a level two one... two Kishin eggs, and the grade is two. That means that these guys can't have eaten more than a dozen souls each - they would be weaker than that mass murderer we killed a few days ago." He recalled the memory about the Kishin egg that they had killed back then to his mind. They had literally ripped through his flesh with two hits. He did not really remember how Miuka had convinced him to accept that mission - a grade one one...
"If you want to become a powerful Death Scythe, we need to kill powerful humans and witches, it's as easy as that. These two would be a waste of time, and barely add to your power."
"What about the village?"
"That mission will be an easy target for people that want to rush through school and make a quick Death Scythe. Two souls for the price of one, literally - in the next two days it will have been done."
Miuka nodded slowly. Trying to use the time they would have for free after accomplishing the mission, to get a look at Scotland, to bait Raven, was bound to fail. He really didn't care about free time.
"Okay then..." she said, and turned back to the board. There were many missions that would be perfect, if only they weren't alone - they had to be atleast four in total to be allowed to pick these, and to be four they had to make a team, or ask someone else. And seeing that most people would decline the offer on the spot, there was little chances that they would get to do one of those today.

Erika sped up to her normal walking speed once Kogani had caught up.

"So any ideas as to what kind of mission you want to take Erika?"
"Well... Nothing in particular, just nothing that would stain my clothes too much. You do know how hard red is to wash out, don't you?" Erika said, "Anyways, I guess I'd like to take a mission that could possibly bring out new abilities, like for example, perhaps a new weapon form or a new technique. Or at the very least we could try to experiment, see what would work and what wouldn't," Erika said as they saw the looming building of the school coming up.

"Well we will be taking a mission of a level at least that of 3, so it is up to you what type and if we have people come with us as if we go any lower we won't be pushing ourselves to do even better and become stronger..." Koganei explained as they arrived at the billboard like thing with all the missions on it, they had missed mourning classes and Koganei being himself saw no need to go tyo them unless an interesting topic was being discussed, or a test was scheduled for that day.

Gripping Echo's hand just to keep from falling over, Edge couldn't help but grin toothily. Finally, he had a partner that wanted to fly as much as he did. He could tell when she threw the paper airplane, if she'd been standing on the ledge, she would've bowed forward with the wind. The look in her eyes told him everything he needed to know, they'd make awesome partners. Edge wondered why he never approached her before, only glimpsed her over lidded, lazy eyes in class. They weren't the type of people sitting on their thumbs waiting for something good to happen, they made things happen. As Echo pulled her hand away from his, he locked his hands behind his head and laughed at her excited dance. Maybe today wasn't going to be so boring after all.

Bouncing his weight from one foot to the other, Edge wondered what the mock exam would be like. If it was as boring as Professor Ford's class, he'd only count himself lucky as to stay conscious. Hopefully it'd be a chance to challenge themselves, the thought of battle made his fiery blood pump. Not to mention his want to see Echo in action—with her energy and raw power, there was no way she was weak. “Mock exam, ah?” He mouthed, another irritatingly confident smirk spreading across his lips, “Is that right?” Edge moved his hands slowly from the back of his neck, and shoved them back into his pockets before leaning in close. Whoever this girl was, she was something else. Pulling his face away, he stepped around her before stopping in his tracks. If anyone were watching, he probably looked like a vulture circling his only meal. It wasn't that he was trying to intimidate her or anything but the thought of eating souls, it made his heart soar. Not to mention the empty flops his stomach was doing since he hadn't eaten lunch yet. Teetering on his toes, he spun on his heel and faced her again, bright eyes spinning. “Now we've got a reason t'a try, eh?” When silence finally hit, Edge eyed her curiously and chuckled. “I guess so,” he responded, nodding his head thoughtfully, “As long as you can cook, I won't hog the bathroom.”

Come tomorrow, the newfound partners would be performing soul resonance, which meant completely opening themselves up to each other. They couldn't waste time holding back, even if they were nervous. Before he took another step, he glanced around and noticed that Echo was no longer standing next to him. Muttering a soft whu—... he looked around until his eyes dropped to the ground, where Echo had sprawled onto her back. He couldn't help but laugh, muttering how lame it was that it was cloudy before he plopped down beside her, stretching his arms behind his head. Edge closed his eyes, only peeking through one eye when she questioned his partnerlessness. Honestly, anyone who tried to partner with him left with scalding hands, or the inability to pick him up. He blamed their lack of drive instead of his incompatibility. They were all like pilots driving on cruise control, if they wanted him as their weapon, they needed to take control themselves.

Sighing, Edge huffed impatiently. “Echo Crush, huh?” For a moment, he just lay there, staring up at the clouds forming large clumps that could've been mistaken for an animal. Edge imitated throwing an imaginary paper air plane and frowned. “Naw, but they said that I'd probably get them killed. The first time they try to match souls with me, they get burnt and give up. But the fact is, they don't want it enough, and if they don't wanna fly with me, it's because they can't.” He took a withering breath before stretching his legs out, propping himself up on his elbows. “Powerful and talented?” He repeated, eyeing her curiously before laughing loudly, clutching his stomach with his free hand. “You've got good eyes then,” Edge added as he caught his breath. Everyone around the school seemed to think he was a lost cause, but he had his eyes on the prize: Death Scythe, it would be him. “If ya' don't dream big enough, you won't ever get off the ground.” Pushing himself to his feet, Edge stuck out a hand to help his new partner back to her feet.

“So, why didn't you ever pick a partner?”

This was when the door to the roof swung open, and Edge frowned, still holding his hand out. Glancing lazily over his shoulder, he spotted Luka—someone else who was in his class, meister of some girl with red hair. His mouth set into a line before he arched an eyebrow. The small pounding noises were coming from the now closed door, which Luka leaned into. “Ya' need something?”

(( XD I love yer' characters. We need to do a mission ASAP, with groups, also.))

Continuing to look at the various missions not worth taking did not stop raven or Miuka from noticing Erika and Koganei arriving. Raven just took a quick glance at the two of them, before turning his attention to the board again. The only thought he was spending on them was that hopefully they would not pick a mission that he would have liked.
Miuka was quite the opposite. Seeing the opportunity, she turned away from the board and smiled. "Hi, you two. Are you looking to take some good mission as well? Because we are, but we really can't find anything good for two..."
Raven sighed, looking at Miuka. "Overexcited today, aren't we?"
"Oh, come on, Raven. I know that you too will prefer taking a mission with someone else than sitting at home all day, reading."
"Well, I guess that you're wrong..."
"You won't get eaten by them."
"If I did, I wouldn't be in this school."
She sighed as well. It was close to pointless to try and convince him into anything, and they had had that conversation more than enough times already.
"Anyway..." she turned back to Erika and Koganei. "If you want, we found some missions that we have to do with four people. So... well, if you like any of them, we'd be glad to come with you."

Thud-Thud-Thud
Loose strands of Luka's hair bounced with the beat of the door, his attention lost with the clouds drifting along the movement of the wind. The large fluffy clouds passed through the sun casting a shadow then making it disappear. He moved his head to the side and leaned into the cool door. His mind echoed the vibrations of Akane's movements. It reminded him of a rough waterfall calming into stillness. “Ya' need something?” In just the slightest movement he glanced at Edge and answered, the words almost sounding like a growl yet it was still soft, "Yes." As agile as a cat he rocked from his heel and turned to face the door. Hand clasped around the cool metal he counted, 'One, Two, Three, Four, Five-' He jerked the doorhandle loosening the lock (not the actual lock, that retractable rectangle square that close to a lock) from its place and shot his arm back retracting it and placing both arms straight out, "Six."
A weary exhausted Meister ungracefully fell forward into Luka's arms. He turned to stand behind her, gently lifting her barely off the floor to rotate her body with his. So now they both face Echo and Edge, Akane's head limp onto Luka's shoulder. Her chest heaved up and down into deep breaths, she glanced at Luka then Edge and a wide-eyed look at Echo. 'She must have noticed her and got excited.' He looked at the floor where Edge's foot was, "My partner forgot to take her medicine. It's nothing." It was a poor cover-up but it wasn't half bad either. As a child Akane was thought to have a medical problem, so they put her on extra protein pills. He knew enough information and about the condition to bluff his way around the conversation. Luka leaned his back aganist the wall, his body forming a shallow arch for Akane to lean in. "We're new in this academy, and Akane heard from yourself that the greatest Meister of this academy is you." Luka nodded toward Echo, he made sure that he didn't reveal who was the weapon or meister in their partnership. Secrecy was major in both their lives, they experienced friendship took years to maintain. If they were lucky Akane may open up right away, or stay closed inside her cage.

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.
The limp figure in his arms started to snore lowly, with a quick shake of Luka's arm she held it then continued her deep breathing. "I think this is a proposal.....sounds like a suggestion to me." He shrugged, "Help strengthen our Soul Resonance and we'll go on some missions with you. I don't know the details of these missions, but the Level 3 descriptions seem easy." Luka paused with a blank expression, then his eyes widened as his free hand raised, "I'm Luka and this sleeping beast is Akane Black. What should I say....Oh. First day." His finger moved from Akane to him back and forth rapidly, "If we're training together I should mention some stuff. We never got real training, so instead we learned from the streets. This one doesn't understand wavelengths and I don't get Soul Resonance." That was a lie too, both of them knew what to do with their wavelengths. It was Fighting 101 to them, they were comfortable with each other's company but when one got emotional it threw the wavelengths off. This happened once when they fought a demon suspected in having black blood, Luka got impatient and Akane got loud.

Erika simply nodded at what Koganei was saying, perhaps not really paying attention to what he was saying at all, or maybe they were. They went inside and followed him to the billboard. They were also very aware of having missed class, but though they did attend them, they didn't mind skipping a class or two at times.

"Hi, you two. Are you looking to take some good mission as well? Because we are, but we really can't find anything good for two..."
"No, obviously we're just staring at the papers looking for typos," They said sarcastically, "In all seriousness, yes we are looking for a good mission, one that's at least about three stars,"

"If you want, we found some missions that we have to do with four people. So... well, if you like any of them, we'd be glad to come with you."
Erika glanced through the billboard for a moment before finally spotting a mission that took at least four people, "I am quite interested in your offer, though the final answer really depends on my partner," They glanced at Koganei, "Anyways, perhaps we could take this mission? Apparently there-" They stopped right in the middle of their sentence when they suddenly read the word bird, they had no clue about what a bird could possibly have to do with the mission, but they were very sure that they wanted no part of the mission, "... Actually, it looks quite easy and perhaps not that challenging..." They said, quickly looking for another mission.

"Actually I was looking at these papers for typos, there is one right here to be exact..." said Koganei as he pointed to the word "vilage" or village, "See they spelled it completely wrong, they forgot the ..." he said as he looked for the mission they would take on, in all reality he had found the typo by chance.

Echo still lay on the ground staring at Edge's offered hand when a red haired boy (who resembled very closely the red haired girl she's hollered at earlier that day) came bursting through the threshold. She glanced boredly in his direction and honestly wouldn't have acknowledged his presence hadn't it been for Edge asking a tentative "Ya' need somethin'" to which the boy responded "Yes." 'Aw man. Echo thought, not wanting to move from her position on the ground. 'Well, I suppose I don't have to get up to talk...' she added, justifying her own lazy actions. That being said, she rolled over and propped her hand on her hand, expectantly staring the red head down until he explained himself. She frowned when he turned around and opened the door, but understood again when the girl tumbled in like a dead body. "What the..." she mumbled. What could possibly make the girl act in such a way? Had they just tried a mission. She licked her lips at the thought, finally rolling up into a criss-cross-apple-sauce position on the cement, waving off Edge's hand.

"My partner forgot to take her medicine. It's nothing." the boy said, and Echo merely nodded her head suspiciously, a frown deeply set on her porcelain face. "Buuullshit." The kid continued. "We're new in this academy, and Akane heard from yourself that the greatest Meister of this academy is you. I think this is a proposal.....sounds like a suggestion to me. Help strengthen our Soul Resonance and we'll go on some missions with you. I don't know the details of these missions, but the Level 3 descriptions seem easy." And then it all became a hazy blur in Echo's head, her selective attention taking its spot light away from the still blabbering couple and into her own head. Her jaw must have been brazing the floor and her eyes as wide as china plates. They'd actually believed her?! Echo knew that she had some pretty tough talk, but everyone had learned to disregard her boastful antics. In all her history, these two chumps were the first to have taken her seriously. Pride and gusto welled up inside her. Did she look like a top-class meister? Could she pull it off? She looked back to the kid who'd unknowingly flattered her beyond belief. "...and I don't get Soul Resonance."

She leaped up to her feet in one easy blow, shrugging exaggeratedly "Oh, who cares about stuff?" she said, as stupid as she'd ever been. "Tell ya what, tomorrow after the mock exam, the four of us will work on our techniques in the woods outside of Death City. You can stop to eat or something, but be there by four." she said fiercely, an unsettling fire burning bright in her eyes. This was the sign that Echo was undeniably up to something. "Alright, let's go, Edge!" she called, once again dragging the poor boy out by his sleeve. She'd already walked down a couple stairs before she raced back up again to peek her head out of the door and holler "Don't be late!" before she ran back down to meet Edge again. She grinned widely, looking at her new partner with content.

Suddenly, her smile turned to a very distinct "o" shape, her eye brows pressing downward as if trying their hardest to touch her eyeballs. "Oh shit..." she said, though she didn't voice what her concerns were. How the hell was she going to teach other kids how to be a spectacular meister and weapon when she didn't even know herself? "OH SHIT." she cried again, much louder this time, a hand reaching her mouth. Before long, her panic became kept-in hysterics and her hand became a filter for her giggles. Oh yes, she found it very amusing that she was going to be the tutor and she knew virtually nothing. This ought to play out well. She was sure her sharp partner knew what was racing through her head despite the fact that they hadn't performed soul resonance yet, just because he was so attentive and she was so easy to read. "Aw man, tomorrow's gonna be interesting." she said sheepishly as they exited to stair well. "Anyway, let's go tell Fordy-chan now. I know I said we should wait 'til tomorrow but I can't wait any longer and I'm sure the old geezer isn't doing anything important."

Luka watched as Echo left with her partner, for a split second they caught each other's eyes and could have sworn an emotion flash through them. Sinking to his knees he decided he must have gone delusional with the rush of excitement about to run through him, right. The feeling never came but he has been seeing things the past few days. He could have sworn he saw witches near the apartment, strange tall shadows lurking in the halls, and someone looking like Kid every now and then.
Akane laughed at his delusions, holding over his head that he had a Kid obssession and he might turn into a miniature Kid himself. Strange because his definition of rolemodel was Blackstar, determination, courage, and strength. As crazy as it might seem, it's true and only a few people know. Luka looked at the limp figure leaned against the wall and waited for the sound of footsteps to cease, "Think she's legit?"
Akane's eyes opened, her slender legs stretched outward and arms raised in the air. "I only got 'tomorrow after the mock exam..'"

She stretched her arms like a jogger about to run a marathon. Luka let a sigh escape from his lips and got up, running a hand through his hair. "After the mock exam we're going to meet by the woods at four. There we'll train our Soul Resonance, I'll try to gather some others that we can benefit from." Akane couldn't help but notice his choice of words. What happened to the Weapon that wanted to help other? The one she heard now was a man wanting to only gain power and strength. "Are you sure it's four?" Changing the subject was best now, she didn't want to get into an arguement just before their training. To add on it they had a mock exam and it sounded like nothing; What were mock exam's even like? "Maybe it was five? I'm pretty sure she said four...then again I might be wrong. Or was it after four that we had to arrive? Hmm..."
He scratched the back of his head, sprouting a confused look on. This act was a daily thing and he left it to Akane for the important events, even the simplest tasks would be forgotten.

It was a dreadful mistake to rely on Luka, she sucked in a sharp breath and began to walk down the stairs two at a time. "I'll go scout around for Meisters. You just..." She shooed him away with her hand, just as it was useless to have him remember events it's also useless to tell him what to do. She made the mistake in letting him cook once and he ended up getting the kitchen on fire. What'd he do? Hide behind Akane offering her to the fire God if he sparred the apartment. Luka smirked as he shrugged, she figured he would skip class again and just go run off to sleep.

The tiny thumps thudding against the door Luka held shut went with the steady beat of Edge's heart, as he stood slack against the soft gusts of wind brushing through his white hair. Being on the roof always calmed him down, but being interrupted while he'd just started a partnership set his hackles rising. He cleared his throat, glanced down at Echo before glancing lazily at the newcomers who'd burst through the door, eyeing them through lidded eyes. Patience wasn't something he excelled at, and waiting for this guy to let the raging bull hammering on the door in made him tense. Honestly, when Luka pulled the door open he wasn't expecting a girl to come stumbling out, chest heaving like someone who'd run several lapse' around the academy. His mouth formed an unimpressed line before he arched another questioning eyebrow, he was wondering what this was about. When Akane scanned her wide eyes across them, he couldn't help but think of a doe caught in the headlights—terrified and unable to move, as she leaned into her partners chest.

“Medicine?” Edge mouthed, staring at Akane with less conviction. Truthfully, he couldn't know either way since he hadn't really seen them around. Not that he was exactly paying any attention. Apparently, they were new and they wanted what? Immediately upon hearing the explanation, Edge grew suspicious. It wasn't because he doubted their sincerity concerning the missions, but he was suspicious of the fact that Luka seemed to be lying or covering the truth. Most partners and meisters could easily mesh their wavelengths and perform Soul Resonance and if they couldn't, they were least likely to admit it. No one wanted to admit their weaknesses, especially if they were teaming up with someone else. It was something you'd learn from spending time together. Playing the silence, Edge looked from the slumbering figure back towards Luka, who supported his partner.

Before Edge had the chance to respond, Echo bounded back to her feet and he sighed, twining his hands behind his head. There was no stopping her, he could already tell. When she set her mind to something, she'd eventually do it—even if she didn't know what she was doing. This brought a slight smirk to his face as he glanced in her direction, already they were planning something for tomorrow. “Tomorrow,” He repeated, taking a few steps forward, “And we'll practice Soul Resonance 'till we get it right. Sound good?” Turning towards his new partner, he felt a tug at his sleeve and he was left stumbling through the door. Louder than sirens, Echo was the type of girl who screamed things in your face until you agreed to things. No doubt he'd see the pair the next day. Shoving his hands deep into his pockets, he closed his eyes and wandered down the spiralling staircase. It was only when he decided to open one eye that he noticed his partner had scrambled back up the stairs to yell something, before joining him halfway down the hall.

As expected, Echo was realizing that she'd just confirmed she was “the best meister in the academy” and would be expected to teach two newcomers tomorrow. Edge knew she had no idea what she would do but only smiled knowingly, placing a hand on her shoulder to calm her hysterical giggles. “You don't know what the hell you're gonna do, do you?” He mused quietly, before chuckling and withdrawing away from her. He continued walking down the hall, only glancing over his shoulder to see that she was following. “It sure is.” Edge couldn't help but laugh loudly, brushing a hand through his unruly hair. Maybe Mr Ford would fall out of his chair from the shock? Heart attack? He wouldn't rule anything out. “I can't wait to see that geezers face when we tell 'em.”

"Of course I know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna... Uh... Teach them about soul resonance and stuff!" Echo exclaimed after her giggle fit, a sloppy grin splashed across her pale face, this time not even trying to convince herself of her bull shit. She continued walking down the stairs, lazier now, her feet dragging behind her. She was suddenly sooooooo tired. Echo had a habit of expending all her energy by the first part of the day (sometime by afternoon when she had a particularly exciting morning) and, once fully drained, could fall asleep anywhere, anytime. When she became tired, it happened very quickly, as if a simple on and off button is what controlled her attentiveness. She dragged her hand on the rail and plopped down each step lethargically, stiffing a closed-mouth yawn and breathing out through her nose.

She shook her head, remembering that she still had company. She'd gotten accustomed to being alone, and her sleeping patterns had gone unnoticed for the most part. She rubbed her eyes. "Shokay, let's go tell Ford, see what he says, and go home... whether that means back to our living arrangements at the moment, or a new house, I'm not sure." she said affirmatively, plopping down to the ground floor, hopping down the last two steps. She dropped like she was a million pounds heavy, as opposed to how she normally bounced like some sort of spring.

She grinned toothily when Edge predicted Ford's reactions. "I hope he has a heart attack. Maybe then we could get a new sensei!" she said jokingly. Some part of her really fancied "Fordy-chan", no matter how much she denied it. She strolled casually towards his classroom at a pace much different from the last time she'd barged in on him. Once at the door, she knocked slowly. "Wanna bet that he's still in here?" she said, glancing back at Edge. She opened the door without an answer and was pleased to see the man still at his desk. He sighed, messed with his glasses, and peered at the two kids.

"What is it, Echo, Edge?" he said as if he really didn't want to be talking to them, his frustration seeping into his speech. Echo coughed and smiled a smug smile, as if she'd just beat the professor at some competition.

"Oh, I just have some news is all. Why don't you tell him, Edge?" she said with her drowsy, lidded eyes. Half of what she said right now was more or less a part of a dream. She probably wouldn't remember any of it, as she was acting out of sleep-drunkness. She nudged the boy next to her with her elbow, a light giggle starting up again.

Luka stood a few body lengths away hiding behind a podium. Akane Black seemed perky with every step it and drove his interest through the wall. How could she be so perky with her simple task in finding others to join the training? He shook his head, 'Girls...' Luka could have always read Akane like an open book. It wasn't hard because to him she held only five, maybe even seven expressions. To a complete stranger she may appear difficult but it was just the matter of how much you spent time with her. Keeping his eyes on her head he notice a slight quiver, he side-stepped to the right and slammed his slender frame against the wall praying silently he wasn't found so soon. Soft footsteps continued in caution then burst into a full run.

Akane didn't care much where her Weapon had gone, and as she walked she started to think about their mini mission in finding others to recruit. Echo and Edge were the first few kids around her age that didn't run away, throw insults, or aim rocks at their faces. In their past school the only friends Luka and Akane had were each other, but that didn't mean their bond would always stick them together. Akane sometimes felt that Luka was a one man team, and some moments proved her to be true. Luka was like the oyster clam and Akane was the cook, it took her years to try and open it, and over those years it's only halfway. She would try to avoid any conversation that could inflict him of the his past life, and he silently agreed to it. A few turns away and she would have hit the mission boards if it weren't for that familiar yet foreign feeling she felt. On instinct she stopped hoping that it would go away but it hadn't. In a slow pace she turned and stared at the empty hall behind her. Her black eyes calculating and sharp as she tried to detect a shadow or movement, but to her there was none. Turning around she felt that feeling again and her feet moved on their own. In a second she bolted through the halls and straight into the mission board.

Out of her eyesight she crashed into a person making his things drop. "I...I'm sorry!" She bowed showing her respect, it was a habit from her previous guardian. At their feet she noticed folders and papers and dropped down to grab the items.

Edge couldn't help but roll his bright eyes at his new partners response, a toothy grin stretching across his usually nonchalant features. Already, he had an inkling that this fiery girl would get him into more trouble than usual. Even if they were biting off more than they could chew, he didn't care because he knew they both wanted to soar—eventually, those dreams would be met and they'd laugh in everyone's faces, they wouldn't be considered lost causes any more. He shoved his hands into his pockets, matching her lazy gait as he stared seemingly at the ceiling, absently counting the lights as they passed. It was the only thing he could do to control the excitement goose bumping against the back of his neck, it was the only thing he could do to calm his thumping heart because the day seemed like a far off dream. Perhaps he was dreaming? As if to test the theory, he pinched the underside of his arm and winced at the sharp pain, quickly wrenching his hand back into the depths of his pocket. Not dreaming. “Sounds like you've run outta' gas.” Edge commented, taking a more few steps before turning on his heels and begin walking backwards in front sluggish girl, who seemed to struggle to remain conscious. Apparently all of the previous excitement of finding an unlikely partner tuckered her out and he couldn't help but feel deflated either, now all he wanted to do was lay around, and perhaps perfect his paper creations.

Feeling weightless, Edge took Echo's voice as a sign that she wasn't going to slump unceremoniously to the ground, leaving him with the hindrance of dragging her sorry behind back to whatever household they were going to be assigned. Smiling fiendishly, he fought the urge to whistle a tune as he walked alongside her. Two walking travesties who'd struck up an unlikely friendship and partnership, smiling at everything in spite of being so wrong. Their reasons for even wanting to partner were so far fetched, he found it hard to believe they found each other. Echo wanted to be the best, wanted to overcome everyone in the academy and maybe one day she would. Edge longed to soar and he'd stop at nothing until he reached the top—both of them, in their own half-hazarded ways, wanted to fly. “We better get a big house.” He expressed, rubbing the corner of his eye with his knuckles. “And a nice kitchen, I'm starving.” One thing about the unusual weapon, he was always hungry.

Mocking a pretty convincing heart attack, Edge clutched his chest before lolling out his tongue at the side of his mouth. Most likely, it'd be the only response Mr. Ford was capable of, especially upon seeing the partnership. Two lost causes without any hope to climb their ways to the top, finding something in each other—it was almost laughable, but he already believed in the willy girl. “If his teachings' any way reflect his heart, maybe not,” He responded, shaking his head before striding down the hallway. They were close enough to the classroom for him to feel slightly nervous, not that he'd ever admit it or show any signs of it. He couldn't even put his finger on why he felt so weird. Shooting her a thumbs up, Edge circled around his partner to peer expectantly at the doorknob. Like Echo said, the business-like man sat stock still at his desk, with his tell tale irritated expression.

Edge's beaming smile fell into a tight-lipped frown as Echo nudged him with her elbow. His expression nearly mimicked Mr. Ford's as he stood there, slowly clearing his throat behind his fist. Peering through lidded eyes, the smirk crept onto his lips and he crossed his arms over his chest. “We're partners now, just in time for the mock exam.” It was a statement rather than anything else, and he arched his eyebrow as if expecting something. “Now, give us our new housing arrangements.”
