Tuesday March 10th 20XX. 3:50 pm EST. This was the day, the moment in time that the world stood still. Simultaneously two massive sinkholes tore the earth asunder in Columbus, Ohio, USA and Ulaanbataar, Mongolia. The death toll in both cities was staggering with hundreds missing and presumed dead adding to the devastation. This incident that shook the world became infamously known as the Disaster. Tensions between superpowers lay forgotten in the wake of it. The UN poured every resource they could into providing relief and Geologists and researchers all over the world were left puzzled over the exact cause. The only conclusive thing to be said was...this wasn't a natural occurrence. But with so many questions left unanswered, the public was left without any reassurance that it wouldn't happen again. That hundreds more wouldn't be lost in another sudden tragedy.
