Introduction
I hope this finds you well. As for your application, you have been accepted. We will expect you at noon on June tenth. You will need only your clothing and material for working, as all required living necessities will be arranged. This summer course will consist of advanced Magicks training and a study of other supernatural species, for you and six other tenants. Directions on back.
Wishing you well, Darrian Hopcraft.”
You signed up for the course to get college credits over the summer. These days, ANs (short for AbNormals) are common enough that they've got college courses dedicated to study them. Before you jump to conclusions, remember that in "Ye Olde Days", doctors and the like studied humans and animals. Legal ANs have been present in society for a bit less than two decades, so the first public generations are in their college years.
You are one of them.
So you signed up, waited a couple weeks, and got that letter. You were excited, got all your bags packed, and drove out to the middle of nowhere - 109 Cedar Drive, Iowa, USA. It's upwards of fifty miles from the nearest town. But, you were okay with it. This is the first time the course has ever been offered and it's extremely exclusive: only 8-10 people were allowed in.
The course is considered scientific and promises to "teach you about the finer mechanisms of your species". But what the pamphlet doesn't cover is the fact that, until you fall in love (and you admit it to the other person and it's requited) you won't be able to get out!
[Character Information]
These faeries aren't like the ones in your storybooks. They don't glow (unless they want to), they don't hover (unless they... nevermind), and they most certainly aren't five inches tall. They are split into two groups (the Seelie Court and Unseelie Court) and each have special strengths. All fey can speak to animals and are exceedingly beautiful.
Seelie Fey are responsible for spring and summer. They tend to specialize in things that require life or love. They can control (to some extent) plants, animals, and "good" emotions, such as happiness, giddiness, love, and playfulness. They love to play pranks but can be civilized.
Unseelie Fey are responsible for autumn and winter. They tend to specialize in things that require intensity or concentration. They can control (to some extent) ice, animals, and "bad" emotions, such as paranoia, grief, hate, and anger. They love alone time, but they do know how to have fun.
Seelie and Unseelie fey don't agree with one another. Seelie fey think the Unseelie are too harsh and boring, while Unseelie fey think the Seelie are to rambunctious and immature. Seraphs and faeries both have wings that can be concealed if the owner chooses so.
The Were ones probably aren't what you'd expect. Werewolves are actually one of the rarest types of were beings, though they've been around the longest and are the proudest. There are others (werecats, wereowls, weresnakes, anything you could think of) of course, but none had been so foolish as to reveal it to a human before some twenty years ago. That had been their undoing as the humans chased after them, instead of looking for the more common species, like cats or horses.
Most of the Were ones' personalities reflect the animal they change into. For example, if you're a wereowl, you're likely to be wise thoughtful, very different from that of a, say, wereferret. Otherwise, the Were ones mostly control themselves, rather than those around them. They can willingly change forms, but cat help it if its a full moon or they get too angry. However, contrary to popular belief, while in their animal form they aren't blood-thirsty. Simply an animal... Sort of.
Witches were the first to publicly declare themselves, despite their normally secretive nature. Their magical power rests in two factors: their health and the condition of their wand. For example, if you were sick or injured, but had a perfect wand, you'd only be able to perform weak spells; if you were in good shape, but you didn't have a wand (aside from very rare and extreme cases) you couldn't do magic at all. The "magical language" is actually Latin, but one must have the correct flow of energy, a wand, and magical blood. An easy way to tell if they're casting a spell is that their eyes change colors, glow, and become pupil-less. Although it changes from family to family, the most common color is green.
Other than their shyness, witches are simply like human beings, though admittedly more thoughtful. Their power is also limited by the amount of Latin they know, but it usually isn't a problem. And, yes, the term "witch" is politically correct for both genders.
There are so many accounts of vampires, it was hard to tell the truth from the lies... Until they became publicly known, that is. Their skin is more susceptible to burning (in other words, you will never see a freckled vampire), they live off blood, and they can influence people's actions. When they are properly nourished, they have increased speed and strength. However, when they don't have enough blood, they become irritable and violent. That's how most conflicts start, as you can imagine. They don't actually have more power during the night, it simply doesn't affect their vision. Most vampires are slightly withdrawn, having gone through the process of Changing. Vampires, in a sense, cannot be born that way. They are born human (since vampires cannot be made out of any of the other species, however humanoid) but go through the change on their thirteenth birthday no matter what.
Call them what you will, angels or seraphs, they were once believed to be God's messengers. That isn't true, but they haven't died. Some share the same reserved qualities as vampires, but some don't remember their deaths unless someone tells them. Seraphs are only those who haven't died of old age, since the whole reason you'd come back is to finish living your life, to the fullest. In order to be born an seraph, you must first be a mortal stillborn. There are no evil seraphs, since only someone with a truly good reason to live can become an seraph. They have two main powers, but are otherwise the same as humans (aside from their beauty, which rivals the faeries'): flight and their singing, which can bend many things (from emotions to plants to inanimate objects) to their will. Seraphs and faeries both have wings that can be concealed if the owner chooses so.

Definitely! Woo hoo, we only need profiles now! (Incoherent squealing)

AdmireAtStuff wrote:If we can have more than one character, may I reserve the male seraph?
Sure! That would definitely be a huge help!
Stryk33 wrote:I think we should do a role call before we start, just to see who is still here. People tend to wander off when things take a little while.
Ugh, I know what you mean. We need one more person, to claim the "Other" bit, then all the characters will be reserved... But we'd still need five more profiles! *Sniffle*
Oh, and I'm planning to make a new forum just before/as we start, to finish explaining the plot, so the authors can all be going towards one goal, I guess.

AdmireAtStuff wrote:When will we start posting? When all the roles are ready, or we can start earlier?
Hmm... The way I planned it, we'd be able to start any time, though it'd be easier to start when everyone has submitted a character. Either way, we should try not to get very far into the RP, because it's always harder to join a roleplay that's already started. I guess I'll wait one more day, then begin it.

Gah, I was sick too, ever since the start of break (of course). Thank YOU for waiting for me.~

I can't wait either, I'm in love with the plot.
Mauvais wrote:Can I reserve the male vampire?
Of course. Only 1/3 open spots left! :)
