Introduction

Story

Deep in the English countryside, there lies a boarding school by the name of Wonderland Academy. It is an elegant building, surrounded by peaceful lakes and rolling green hills.
Wonderland Academy is a school for geniuses of the greatest caliber, but there is one, slight issue; those who are admitted aren’t entirely sane.
From OCD to schizophrenia, all the way to addiction to drugs, these teens personify the very meaning of crazy. Every teacher has a Master’s Degree in psychology. The academy is no less than an educational mental institute.
Our story begins with “Alice”, a completely sane young girl, who has unwittingly been admitted into the academy. She is now caught in a “battle” for supremacy between three clubs- the Tea Club, the Chess Club, and the Gardening Club?
What will she choose?

Character List

Neutral-

Alice (Female)- Taken by Kura Ravengade
“Alice” is a bright, creative teenage girl who is defined as a genius by any examiner. What separates them from the rest of her peers, though, is that she is completely sane. Her acceptance was a mistake- though she is certainly smart enough to be admitted into Wonderland Academy, the staff feel as if she is unprepared to interact with the other students.

Cheshire Cat (Female)- Taken by AvidSmoker
She is quite the oddity- nearly always speaking in riddles. That is, if she speaks at all. She tends to fade into the background with incredible ease. She tends to be sarcastic and pessimistic in even the best of times, but always has a joke or pun for the situation at hand.

Tweedle Dee/Dum (Male)- Taken by The(Doctor)Horrible
He is a teenage boy with a split personality, caused by the death of his twin brother. He coped with his parents’ disappointment by “becoming” his brother, a smart, hardworking young genius. His actual personality is sweet, quiet, and meek. He has a tendency to argue with himself, because the two of his personalities contrast so strongly.

The Caterpillar (Male)- Taken by Geekly
He is a young man with a traumatic past no one knows about, possibly not even himself. He drowns himself in smoking and drugs, speaking only in riddles. He doesn’t do tests or homework, but he often comes up in the top ten of his grade, much to the surprise of his peers. Anyone at the academy could tell you he’s different, even among the outcasts.

Tea Club-

Mad Hatter (Male)- Taken by Scarlet Loup
The leader of the Tea Club and debatably the least sane of the students in Wonderland Academy. His external persona is bright, cheery, and loud, while on the inside, he is quite sadistic and suffers from mild schizophrenia. He is also quite the romantic- showering the object of his affections with gifts and endless attention.

Dormouse (Female)- Taken by phoenix_lynx
She is an incredibly bright young girl, but prefers sleeping to studying. She uses her classes as nothing more than a napping period, and is severely apathetic. She seems out of place within the Tea Club, considering the other members’ loud natures.

March Hare (Male)- Taken by IAmAlien
He is a very loud young man, with the mindset of an eight-year-old. He enjoys throwing things, and suffers from a form of Tourettes, causing slight outbursts. He suffers from lunacy- one moment, he’ll be his cheery, cute self, and the next, he’ll be skeptical, smart, and incredibly paranoid.

Chess Club-

White Queen (Female)- Taken by Grace Lynn
She is happy-go-lucky, innocent, and naive, sharing many qualities of a first grader. Just looking at her, you might not notice that anything was wrong, but she is certainly not sane. She’ll talk to anyone, and loves making new friends - and not only with people. She speaks with trees and inanimate objects frequently, often referring to them with names. She is also the kind leader of the Chess Club.

White Rabbit (Female)- Reserved for Alkali
She is flighty, sweet, but extremely controlling. Though the White Queen is the official leader of the Chess Club, she is the one who keeps things running smoothly. She has been diagnosed with extreme OCD, and goes completely ballistic when things don’t go exactly the way she plans.

White King (Male)- Taken by fate0013
He is undoubtedly one of the sanest students on the school grounds, at least, as far as appearances go. He is extremely quiet, not unlike the Cheshire Cat, but far less animated. He is the brother of the White Queen, and provides a strong contrast to her exuberant behavior.

Gardening Club-

Queen Of Hearts (Female)- Taken by OurStars
She is quite the violent individual. She has been diagnosed with megalomania, often calling herself a queen, or directing others. The only ones who actually follow her orders (without complaining or requiring violence) are in the Gardening Club, where she is the leader.

King Of Hearts (Male)- Taken by DarkOne
The second-in-command of the Gardening Club, and the Queen’s younger brother. He is her most loyal follower, extremely submissive. He craves insults like a narcissistic person would crave compliments. This is mostly his family’s fault- he is a very gentle, sensitive boy, and being around his cruel family affected him greatly.

Headswoman (Female)- Reserved for Mrs. Sara Banner
She performs the “dirty work” of the Queen, or any members of the Gardening Club, for that matter. She is extremely violent and manic, but she can also be very submissive and docile in the presence of those she wishes to please.

Knight Of Hearts (Male)- Taken by Scarlet Loup
Though the entire Gardening Club is loyal to the “queen”, he is certainly the one who follows her with the most enthusiasm. He is a pronounced pyromaniac and would follow the rest of the club off of a cliff. He’d have you believe that he’s the meanest and scariest, but away from his friends, he feels lost.

Julianna waits, fingers tapping against her crossed arms as she stands impatiently, Stayne still yet to have retrieved his own bowling ball of choice. Her eyes hover over her two underlings for a moment, able to catch a sharp look shared between the two before she smirks slightly with amusement at what she perceives as a competitive nature shared between the two of them. Why wouldn't they be? It is an honor to serve me most efficiently, she thinks to herself, mental voice almost a hum with delight at their behavior, though she still allows her mind to briefly wander back to the new girl from before. She really does hope that Hatter hasn't gotten his claws in the young woman, but is confident that she can persuade the girl over to the Garden Club if that is the case. After all, what's not to love about her little club? The location is prime, the people obliging, and of course the leader is positively brilliant in every way. She can't imagine why anyone would choose the Chess or Tea Clubs over her own, unless they simply take joy in mediocrity. If someone does, for whatever strange reason, take joy in the mediocrity of the other clubs, then she doubts they would find a suitable place among her own ranks anyway. Unless they are obedient without any signs of hesitations, boring people don't really tend to find themselves on Julianna's good side. She finds a person being dull in her presence almost an insult, as though they dare think themselves worthy of standing before her glorious self while all they can boast of his being completely and frustratingly average.

"Really? I hadn't noticed?" Julianna hears Stayne practically spit out at Ana, drawing her attention back to the game at hand. She knows that both of them approve of a stolen supply from Andrew as the prize, one which she has somewhere in the drawers of her dorm room, last she can recall. Now that everyone has finally gotten around to choosing a suitably plump freshie for their balls, she looks over at them and commands they stand in a V-formation resembling that of bowling pins. Ana follows up by coming over and kissing Julianna's hand, as a subject would their queen, before stating that it is only right for Julianna to go first. The queen merely smirks at this comment, "Well, that is a matter of course, is it not? Here, Stayne, you have permission to kiss my hand as well- so that none of you will have the unfair advantage of some of my excellence being rubbed off wholly on one person," she says, only half jokingly, whilst extending one hand to the male underling. Her other hand rests on the head of her chosen tool, who quakes beneath her, for the reputation of the Garden Club is far-spread and very much feared by the freshmen. Not to say that these freshies aren't just as insane as everyone else. It is just that even the insane can identify Alpha dogs, and Julianna is not one that someone of their inferiority would want to cross. Even without her merciless underlings, she is a force to be reckoned with, both mentally and physically. "Hurry up, then, so we may begin the game."

"Don't worry about it..." he whispered, running a hand slowly through her hair. "It was adorable..."

Valerie blushed a bit more and ducked her head, peaking up at him. She quickly dropped her gaze again, utterly embarrassed by her clingy attitude from before. What if she had come off as too needy? Too ... Desperate? She inwardly groaned, her nose scrunching up a little as she mentally face-palmed herself. I can't believe I acted like that ...

It was then that Tarrant grinned. However, it was so much more different then his other grins. This one was genuine and not some flirting, joking smirk. She felt her insides warm a bit at the pleasure she felt from seeing his grin, and smiled in return to him. Her hand lifted and she lightly trailed her fingers over his lips, and then dropped her hand to her side once more.

"O-of course ... Do you want me to wait until you've checked on the twins first?"

She studied his blushing face for a moment, then laughed a little at him and shook her head. "No, that's okay. I'm sure they can't do too much harm in such a short amount of time. Why don't we head over to the garden, and then you can show me around? I only just remembered that I forgot my sweatshirt there," she told him. She started towards the door, paused, and looked over her shoulder at him. "By the way, you don't need to be so nervous and embarrassed around me. You're ... A really good kisser," she teased, grinning. She reached over and grabbed his hand before pulling him behind her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It wasn't long before she reached the garden club. She had released Tarrant's hand a while back so he could choose where he wanted to go, instead of having to follow her everywhere, and she hadn't even bothered to look back to see if he was still behind her. She was far too afraid of him thinking that she was desperate.
Pushing the gate open, Valerie made her way inside the garden, pushing her hair back from her face as she did so. "I really do hope that it's still there," she murmured, making her way through the garden and in the direction of the tree she had sat beneath when she had become lost earlier. She dropped to her knees beside the bench and crawled halfway underneath it, her derriere in the air, and reached far back beneath it. Finally, she crawled back out, sweatshirt in hand, and hopped up. "Hallelujah!" she cheered happily, wrapping it around her waist and tying the sleeves in front of her.
It was then that she heard the voices. The 'Queen', a male's she hadn't heard before, and an only-dimly familiar female voice. They things they were saying confused her almost immediately, and she pressed her lips together in thought. "What in the world ...?" she murmured, taking quick strides in the direction of the foliage that separated her from Julianna and the unknown others.
She brushed past some tree branches and moved quickly in the general direction, following the sounds of their voices, When she arrived, it was to see freshmen, that seemed to be extremely afraid at the current moment, Julianna, and a man and a woman. Her frown intensified and she studied the scene before her, her arms slowly crossing before her chest.
"Ahem," she cleared her throat, in an attempt to gain the attention of the three 'leaders'. She cocked her hip out a little, her leg straightened out beside her, and she leaned her weight into her opposite foot, her expression set into a hard look. "Excuse me, but what in the Hell is going on here?" she demanded, a scowl on her lips. She surveyed the freshmen, before fixing a glare on Julianna. "What are you doing to these poor kids?"
Skye wasn't happy. The "Queen" heals ignored him and was till concentrating on the garden clubs so called game. He couldn't help but sigh in frustration when the Knave and Headswoman started going at each others throats. . . Oh if only the did for real instead of figuratively. The white king was getting flustered over the ordeal, he needed to inform the others know, not tomorrow or later, it needed to be done KNOW. The sign was seen once again and the bloody game was to begin. . . .and they only had three days this time.
When Alice and the Hatter came over Skye face palmed. This is getting externally tedious. Alright Skyler, swallow your pride, remember that this is life and death. The white king marched up to Julianna, the red Queen and bowed formally all the while ignoring everyone else. Some of the freshmen stared at him, Skye's hair was practically silver and his skin porcelain. They probably where wondering how someone like him was possibly mad. He regarded them with ice blue eyes then turned his attention back to Julianna. Skye spoke politely with his crystal ringing that he would use when he sang to catch her interest, plus he had never spoken a word to her ever before. . . That was until know. "Good evening your highness, I would like a word with you if it's not to much a problem. It's important that we speak right away." He blinked his eyes and gave a warm smile. This had to work, he would hate himself later but Skyler came to the conclusion that if needed he would offer a favor or request in retern.
Stayne ground his teeth together slightly, his jaw clenching tightly. He absolutely couldn't stand this...much longer and he would snap. In fact, he was being impressively flexible at the moment. On a bad day, he would have lunged at Ana- regardless of her gender. In all honesty, he could care less whether she was a female or a male; she still was acting like a dick.
"What, is someone PMSing?" she taunted, only setting Victor off again. He wrinkled his nose slightly in an animal-like manner and rolled his eyes.
"What, is someone PMSing?" he snapped, mocking her voice in a crude way with a loud, nasally ring to it. He started toward her, fists balled, and would have thrown one of them at Ana, had he not heard his Queen's voice ring behind him.
"Here, Stayne, you have permission to kiss my hand as well- so that none of you will have the unfair advantage of some of my excellence being rubbed off wholly on one person," she said, holding out a hand toward him. As the knave turned to face his mistress, a look of confusion suddenly crossed his face. Was she being truthful..? It was hard to tell with Julianna, most times, yet her expression seemed genuine enough and her tone was only partially joking. Victor stepped toward her and then lowered himself on one knee while taking her delicate hand in his larger, calloused one. Gingerly, he pressed the sweet thing to his lips and closed his eyes briefly in contentment before pulling away and standing up again. That will have to do for now, he thought, walking back to his freshman who was still cowering in fear.
By then, Tarrant and Valerie were wandering through the gardens with the former following the latter as if he were a puppy. As Valerie opened the gate, her eyes landed on her jacket and she quickly ran to pick it up. From that point, it all simply went downhill. She heard the Queen's voice soon after, mingled with a few other ones that Tarrant knew all-too-well. He frowned subtly as he watched her get up and walk toward the bushes to hear better.
"No, Valerie, I wouldn't do that if I were you..." he murmured, hardly able to be heard. He didn't expect her to heed his warning, either way. No one actually ever believed his warnings. Besides, maybe he was just being paranoid...the Queen might actually like Alice much more than she liked the Hatter. Then again, most individuals preferred, well, anyone over the druggie. He followed her, after thinking it over, ad poked his head into the bushes to watch them all, ready to intervene if needed. The tone she used caused the Hatter to smile softly. She truly was a stubborn one, and hardly soft-spoken.
Stayne looked up at Alice, cocking his head subtly, as he didn't recognize the attractive girl. He glanced back at Julianna, then reluctantly to Ana, before looking back at Valerie.
"Oh...so this must be the new girl at school, no?" he asked, smirking subtly in an odd way that wasn't much unlike the Hatter's grin, except this was more mischievous.
Julianna looks away from her henchmen to stare at the figure who has shouted out at them, the new girl, who is making it increasingly obvious that she has quite few opinions, and has no qualms whatsoever with speaking on the topic of them. "Excuse me, but what the hell is going on here?" the new girl demands, looking rather haughty as she stares them down with a no-nonsense look in her eye. Apparently her mouthiness from before has returned with a vengeance, and hence the young woman speaks to three of the scariest people in the school as though she were some sort of scolding teacher, prepared to administer punishment if necessary. It doesn't take long for Alice's eyes to shift from the freshmen back to the queen, once stern eyes settling into a fiery glare as she continues to shout questions, not really leaving time for answers to be filled in. "What are you doing to these poor kids?" Julianna merely rolls her eyes, as if she finds Alice's concern charming but useless- the look a parent might have when a child isn't looking. "Alice, darling. Welcome back! Fret not, love- they're only a year younger than you probably are- hardly children. Besides, it's fun. Want to play? The fat ones make excellent bowling balls, you know," she comments, giving a bit of friendly advice, or so it seems by the expression of her face. Still, while the young woman remains intrigued by the new student -like a child looking at a new toy- she cannot help but be slightly taken aback by her general nosiness and lack of respect. "You ca-" the queen begins to say something, but is cut off as an unexpected person approaches her. Apparently he has been in the garden for a bit now, but she was too caught up in her own little game to notice the generally quiet young man, brother to the White Queen.
The young man marches up to her and bows, quiet abrupt in his actions but appearing to do so with a genuine purpose in mind, based on the set look he has about his face. He speaks with urgency, requesting to speak with Julianna on something which is apparently rather important- or at least by his standards. Distracted for the moment, the queen raises her eyebrows at he, who usually distances himself from her club if possible. "Well, that depends," she says with a smirk and in a voice with a slight lilt to it, "Is it interesting, or dull?" She sends a sideways glance towards Stayne, who asks to confirm the identity of Alice as the new girl she had mentioned before, a delightfully mischievous smirk playing at his lips as he stares at Alice questioningly.
"Oh, yes- this is Alice, she's new here, and apparently really quite sane. Isn't it delightful?" Julianna's way of speaking about Alice continues to give the impression of someone talking about an adorable small child, or a cute kitten who is trying very hard to be a hunter by nibbling at one's fingers. She clearly doesn't expect the young woman to be much of a threat at all. Well, not that Julianna doesn't tend to underestimate everyone. "I do wish she hadn't allowed a stray dog to follow her, though- filthy little thing," she comments, a harsh look settling upon Tarrant, enemy number one of the Garden Club.
"Oh...so this must be the new girl at school, no?"
Alice turned her attention to one of the boys that stood nearby, this one dark-haired and a bit disturbing in many ways. His eyes pierced into her, and something about him sent a chill across her skin. She had never been so ... So ... Afraid of someone or something as quickly as she realized that what she was feeling was, indeed, fear of the boy. Her jaw clenched and she turned her eyes to him, obviously holding absolutely no respect for him, Juliana, or the other female, due to their cruel little game. "Yes, I am the new girl. My name is Valerie," she said darkly, her voice holding annoyance and irritation. What is it with this guy? What is it about him that automatically repulses and makes me so ... Scared?
It was then that Julianna spoke, in that obnoxious yet compelling voice of hers. It's like all she knows how to do is talk and treat people like crap. What is up with this chick?
"Alice, darling. Welcome back! Fret not, love- they're only a year younger than you probably are- hardly children. Besides, it's fun. Want to play? The fat ones make excellent bowling balls, you know."
"No, I can't say that I know, and I don't plan on knowing. You know, ever since I was little, I've always tried to look for the good in people and not judge them immediately. The whole, 'Don't judge a book by it's cover', philosophy and all. But after only a few hours at this school, I am this close," she held up her index finger and thumb about two centimeters away from each other, "To abandoning all of my morals. And that's all because of you. You are nothing but a psychotic, controlling, self-centered, wanna-be, self-absorbed, nasty, no-good, lying, whore-of-a-bitch. You pride yourself on people 'adoring' you, when in fact, it is the exact opposite. They're afraid of you. They don't worship you, or love you, or even like you. They only say that they do so you won't do, well, something like this to them. And let me tell you something," she snarled out, taking a few large strides to close the distance between her and the girl. "If you ever, ever, do anything to hurt my new friends, in any way, I will make you regret it for the rest of your life."
"I do wish she hadn't allowed a stray dog to follow her, though- filthy little thing."
Oh, she did not just go there.
Complete and utter fury swelled up inside of her, and before Valerie knew what she had done, her hand had lifted and flew out, striking the young woman's face so hard that her palm stung. "Don't you ever talk about Tarrant like that," she growled out, her voice a deathly cold, almost murderous in tone. Without another word to Julianna, she cast a look at the freshmen. "Leave, now," she ordered, before turning and moving back over to Tarrant's side. She took his wrist and dragged him in the direction of the exit from the garden. "Nobody talks about my man like that," she muttered darkly under her breath.
((OurStars: Just a note, if I went too far in that, just let me know and I'll change it ^^))
Anastasia chuckled at Stayne, and the way he reacted, before her eyes leveled at Alice. She stood silently, observing the new girl as her anger rose, the corners of er own lips rising with Alice's anger as the spat continued. As she stormed off with Tarrant, Anastasia chuckled, "It seems as if you struck a nerve Mistress. I must commend you, that was rather entertaining. Though regretfully, we were robbed of our game.." she murmured, her lips falling slightly.
Julianna happily notes the hint of fear in Alice's eyes as she looks over towards Stayne, the young woman's hands clenching slightly. I'd forgotten, but Stayne does have that effect on people, doesn't he? Absolutely lovely, she notes to herself, still smiling quite sweetly- like poison mixed into one's maple syrup. She merely stands there smiling at Julianna, awaiting the girl's response on her invitation to join in on the games, before the young woman before her suddenly launches into a long rant- not unlike the ones that Julianna herself is prone to, although this one is a bit angrier than her typical ramblings. A lot more sane, if only in the fact that the raw emotion is not sugar-coated with a disillusioned mind, but also not frosted by cold sadism or something else of that sort. Believe it or not, and most of those in the sane category do not, those with their senses tend to feel a lot more raw emotion than those without them. Emotion is something of a sense in its own right, after all, and is held slightly out of reach for those who lack the capacity to fully understand everything which is going on around them.
"No, I can't say that I know, and I don't plan on knowing. You know, ever since I was little, I've always tried to look for the good in people and not judge them immediately. The whole, 'Don't judge a book by it's cover', philosophy and all. But after only a few hours at this school, I am this close to abandoning all of my morals. And that's all because of you. They only say that they do so you won't do, well, something like this to them. And let me tell you something, if you ever, ever, do anything to hurt my new friends, in any way, I will make you regret it for the rest of your life." By the end of this little monologue, Alice is standing directly in front of Julianna, fuming and having lost control.
"Darling, you will simply have to clarify for me: what morals? And feigned open-mindedness simply doesn't qualify, I'm afraid," Julianna says cheerfully, no malice in her voice, though for a moment she drops a pitch with a soft chuckle, "And however do you plan on doing that? Little sane girl? Are you going to bite me? Because don't worry- I like a person who bites from time to time." The queen confides this with that cross between a grin and a smirk which she always seems to wear. However, that expression drops in a millisecond when she feels the sting of flush against her porcelain-toned cheek. She may be insane, but she is still a genius, and or a moment everything becomes slow motion as Julianna becomes clear to the point of sharpness of her surroundings. Every color is crystallized, threatening to cut open anyone who lacks such a brilliant and dangerous hue.
The next words from Alice are spoken very quietly, and perhaps would hold some sort of danger, if Julianna was in the slightest afraid of the girl before her. Julianna's sweetness dissipates in an instant, leaving someone with a cold expression and a killer stare. The difference between her deadly glare and that of Alice is, of course, that Julianna would actually kill someone, while it is dubious that Alice would act similarly. The young woman runs away then, tugging the Hatter after her. The freshman do not leave, though ordered to do so, because Stayne and Ana remain there, and are terrifying in their own right. Julianna is frozen in her place for a few moments, before a smile graces her face once more and she turns to face Ana.
"What was that, dear? Oh, yes. I'm afraid the new girl doesn't have the best taste, does she? Well, I suppose I must give up on her. Besides, her actions must be punished, no? I can't have her setting a bad example for the others," Julianna begins to talk more to herself than to Ana, tone thoughtful. "It is strange for her to become so attached so quickly- like a half-dead dog to a street rat. How interesting, but disappointing. How about we play a new game, then?" Julianna suggests, a sadistic turn to her sweet voice as she rests a hand against her cheek, still slightly red, for a moment. "I fear she overestimates herself."
Stayne continued staring at Valerie in a frightening manner with his eyes just about piercing through the poor girl, even the one that was basically blind. Her voice was soft and sweet, yet strong and clear when she spoke. The way she looked at him, as if he was a frightening creature, also made him smile. In his mind, fear was far better than respect of any kind. Her jaw clenched defiantly and she turned to face him.
"Yes, I am the new girl. My name is Valerie," she replied sharply. Victor chuckled at her tone and mock bowed.
"I'm Stayne," he said simply, winking at the girl quickly, which caused Tarrant to grow tense behind Valerie. As Julianna spoke next, all eyes turned toward her. It was simply instinct to the three other students, but Alice seemed to be reluctant to look at her. "Alice, darling. Welcome back! Fret not, love- they're only a year younger than you probably are- hardly children..." Victor raised an eyebrow slightly as his queen referred to the girl as Alice. Hadn't she just said her name was Valerie? Just as he was about to laugh and agree with what the Red Queen said, Valerie- or Alice- butted in. After her rant, Julianna pipped up with a quick comment. "I do wish she hadn't allowed a stray dog to follow her, though- filthy little thing." Stayne laughed loudly at this but stopped after hearing the Hatter's laughter join his.
"Oh, shut up!" he snapped at the druggie, rolling his eyes. "Why the hell are you laughing?" Tarrant truly had no answer to this. Why wouldn't he laugh, though? Besides, it seemed to annoy the Gardening Club when he did so. He opened his mouth to speak when Valerie lifted her hand and struck the Queen. Stayne's jaw dropped in surprise and he seemed ready to lunge at the girl and pummel her into the ground, stopped only by Tarrant when he stepped between them slightly. Stayne's freshman scurried off after Alice told him to do so, followed by a few others. As Tarrant, who was also wide-eyed, opened his mouth to speak, Alice fastened her hand around his wrist and started to drag him off.
"Nobody talks about my man like that," she growled, causing the Hatter to blush. Her man? he thought, surprised. Victor had, in the mean time, walked hurried after the two. He had no idea what he was doing, whether it was seeking retribution for himself or making sure that the two knew their places, but he quickly grabbed the Hatter by his shoulder and turned him around to face him. Confused and taken by surprise, the Hatter had literally a fraction of a second to react before the slightly shorter male's fist flew into his face, meeting sharply with his nose. He would have struck Alice in a heartbeat but, since he was above hitting girls, her boyfriend was the next best thing. Tarrant reeled backwards and his wrist was yanked out of Valerie's grip. Falling against a rose bush, he attempted to steady himself and wipe some of the blood off of his face.
"Vic-" he began, trying to call off the Knave. Instead, he was thrown to the ground roughly. Dazed and disoriented, a fist met again with his cheek while Stayne loomed over the crazed young man. After a few more strikes were thrown, the stronger male stood upright and kicked the Hatter in the ribs.
"Teach your girlfriend some manners, freak," he spat, stalking back toward Julianna while wiping the Hatter's blood off of himself. The Hatter scurried to his feet and, while rubbing some blood away from his mouth, glanced at Alice.
"C'mon," he mumbled. "Let's go..."
Valerie missed the words that Julianna spoke, for if she had, she never would have left the garden as slowly as she had. She would have heeded the warning that the words had held, and would not have regretted her actions as much as she would later on. Perhaps everything that occurred after that day, never would have happened, if only she had heard the threat in her voice, the threat her words held.
Everything that happened in those next few moments was in slow motion. One moment, Tarrant's wrist was in hers, and the next, he was torn from her grip and had flown into a rose bush. "Tarrant," she gasped out, flashing around in a split second. When she saw Stayne, her jaw clenched and her blood ran cold. Something about him instilled more fear inside of her then anything other then death. It caused her to freeze in place, all her former martial arts training fleeing her mind, and by the time she thawed, Stayne was already beating Tarrant, relentless in his punches.
"Stop!" she cried. For some odd reason, she still could not bring her fighting abilities, but instead threw her hands forward and grabbed the older man's arm.
However, it was over almost as quickly as it began. As soon as she touched his arm, he yanked away and returned to the coward of a Queen, Julianna, and had disappeared into the foliage. When Valerie finally turned back around, Tarrant was pushing himself up and wiping blood from his face.
"C'mon ... Let's go ..."
With her lips pressed firmly together and tears in her eyes, she nodded a little, slipping her hand into his. They walked in silence, and she was unable to look at him, let alone meet his eyes. The combination of her guilt and the blood that coated his face only caused her to keep her head lowered, her face towards the ground.
It was until they reached the gates of the garden that she was able to look up at his face.
This proved only to be the biggest mistake of her life. Replacing his face, was that of her brother's. Shards of glass jutted from his skin, blood streamed down his face, and his normally-blue eyes were blank and staring - at her.
She wrenched back from Tarrant and took a few steps away from him, one hand lifting to her face, her fingers splaying to slightly cover one eye. Her breathing hitched and stalled, shaking a bit. "Jacob ..."
She shook her head quickly and fought back her tears. It isn't Jacob. Jacob's dead. This is Tarrant. Tarrant is not Jacob. Jacob isn't coming back. That was then, and this is now. Tarrant is here now, Jacob is left in the past. Stop thinking of him!
Her jaw clenched and she lowered her hand. Finally, she turned back to who she now thought of as one of her best friends, and who was now something close to, or perhaps even was, her boyfriend. "Tarrant, I'm so, so sorry ... This is all my fault," she whispered, slipping her hand back into his. She linked their fingers together and squeezed his hand tightly, her lips trembling a bit before she once more pressed them together.
Without another word, she led him the short distance to the Girl's Dormitories, slipped out her key, and unlocked the door to her now-empty room. She stepped inside and pulled him in after her, motioned for him to sit somewhere, and disappeared into her bathroom. She returned a few moments later after scouring her bathroom, a first aid kit in her hand. After pulling her desk chair over beside where he sat, she dropped into it and snapped open the case.
Calmly, Valerie lifted a wet cloth and gently began to wipe gently at his face. "There is no way I can voice to you how sorry I am ... I never meant to ... I didn't think they would ... I thought that if they lashed out on anyone for revenge, it would be to me, not you," she whispered, biting her lower lip as she lowered the cloth and removed several alcohol swabs. She softly began to dab the lacerations. "If I had known, I never would have allowed myself to lose control like that ... It was just ... I wasn't going to stand by and let her talk about you like that, especially not when I could do something about it. Someone needs to put that coward in her place. Obviously, she can't even do her own dirty work," she muttered darkly, tossing the swabs into the trash and pulling out several bandages, gauze, and medical tape. "... I'm sorry I caused you pain, Tarrant ..." Her eyes lowered for a moment, before she lifted them back up to his face, and began to cover the still-bleeding cuts.
Julianna takes two sorts of joy out of watching as Stayne rushes forward and attacks Tarrant, completely overwhelming him in terms of both physical strength and general viciousness. It is positively delicious to watch, although this may be due to her own slightly sadistic tendencies, mirroring the murderous personality of her two underlings. The other joy, other than good old fashioned sadism, is the fact that it is an immediate display of her own power- that a simple slap across her face will launch one of her followers to beat someone half to death. That shows loyalty, and she definitely has a fondness for loyalty of any sorts- well, as long as it is to her, that is. Oh, dear, I do hope that Stayne didn't kill the thing. There's just something wrong about killing animals, isn't there? Julianna muses to herself, naturally lacking in any sort of real sincerity. Her eyes flicker towards Ana for a moment, a calculating look coming over her expression, as today's favorite clearly shifts so that Stayne is slightly above Ana. After all, the female underling hadn't done anything other than called the interaction amusing. Certainly, Julianna agreed, but the observation had not been nearly as lovely as Stayne's leap into action.
"Teach your girlfriend some manners, freak," she hears Stayne spit towards Tarrant, making it rather clear that he had beat up the Hatter rather than Alice only because he doesn't typically hit girls. That is the one thing which Julianna finds slightly dull in the young man- the trace of any gentleman behavior. Gentleman, after all, can be really quite boring after a while. Well, his love for violence makes up for that, keeping Tarrant among her favorites here- those basically including him, Ana, herself, and occasionally her younger brother. So basically, the Garden Club- though the occasional exception is made when other people manage to catch her rather fickle mind.
"Good boy, Stayne. I did like that kick- nice flourish," she praises him in a delighted purr, noting the Hatter's blood on the young man with doubled amusement. Her lips curl up in a cross between a grin and a smirk, eyes sparkling before she suddenly turns on her heels to face the remaining freshmen. She seems to be deliberating on something whilst staring at them intently, hands on hips and hair pushed back behind her head. I have better things to do now than play a game of bowling, sadly. However, it would be such a waste to simply allow the remainder to just wander off, wouldn't it? That wouldn't set a very good example at all, I think. What to do, what to do? She glances back over at her underlings with a look of decisiveness.
"Well then, clearly we must show to this lovely little new girl the error of her ways, yes? Might as well have fun with it," Julianna suggests cheerfully, looking at the two of them, the handful of freshmen still cowering behind her and trying to figure out whether or not it would be a good idea to try and make a run for it at that moment. Stayne and Ana may do much of the Queen's dirty work, but when Julianna is interested, she doesn't hesitate to stand on the front line of any sort of war. And when she does that, things tend to be especially devastating for the club's target.
Tarrant "Mad Hatter" Hightopp
Of course, the beating had ending almost as quickly as it began. Victor now stood silently beside his mistress, staring coldly at the couple as they staggered off. Hurting all over and feeling woozy, the Hatter forced himself to walk beside Valerie. He felt her hand slip into his, though, and the sensation of her warm skin against his cold skin was soothing. Instinctively, he squeezed it like a child about to get a flu shot. However, he realized after a few seconds that he was probably hurting her and let that hand go lax while he tightened his other hand into a tight ball.
It hurt him even more to see that she was looking down and away from him. Why was she avoiding him like that...? Had he looked like such a wimp in that fight that she was embarrassed? Had he done something wrong? He mentally began to go off on a tangent but brought himself back to reality with a few deep breaths, that caused him to inhale some of his own blood and cough for a few heartbeats. They reached the gates of the garden and, finally, she looked up at him, causing Tarrant to smile slightly. Her expression though, one of fear and surprise, frightened him and his brow furrowed.
"Val-..." he began, cutting himself off as she tore her hand out of his grip and stumbled backward, trying to cover her face with one hand.
"Jacob..." she whispered in a shaky voice. The Hatter frowned and he stepped toward her slowly.
"...who?" murmured Tarrant softly. The way she said this "Jacob's" name, made it sound like she was upset to have remembered it...as if the memory of Jacob was upsetting her. Was he a friend? A boyfriend? A brother...? Tarrant's eyes widened slightly. Oh yes, it must be her brother...the one who had been in the crash, right? He surprised himself by recalling this information; usually he forget these things and looked like an idiot later on.
"Tarrant, I'm so, so sorry ... This is all my fault," she whispered, slipping her hand back into his. She linked their fingers together and squeezed his hand tightly, her lips trembling a bit before she once more pressed them together.
"No...it isn-" began Tarrant, cut off when Valerie hurried toward the girl dorms again, pulling the Hatter along behind her. She motioned for him to sit somewhere, once they had entered the room, and he decided on the edge of her bed, as he had done earlier that day. In a minute or two, she had pulled over a chair and a first-aid kit. A wet cloth glided slowly over his face and, again, he couldn't help but notice the extremely striking similarities between his mother and this friend- or girlfriend- of his. Their touches were so gentle and kind, making him feel reassured and calm.
"There is no way I can voice to you how sorry I am ... I never meant to ... I didn't think they would ... I thought that if they lashed out on anyone for revenge, it would be to me, not you," she whispered, biting her lower lip as she lowered the cloth and removed several alcohol swabs. She softly began to dab the lacerations. Tarrant winced and lightly gasped in response to the alcohol swabs as the wounds began to burn and sting lightly in response to the alcohol. "If I had known, I never would have allowed myself to lose control like that ... It was just ... I wasn't going to stand by and let her talk about you like that, especially not when I could do something about it. Someone needs to put that coward in her place. Obviously, she can't even do her own dirty work," she muttered, tossing the swabs into the trash and pulling out several bandages, gauze, and medical tape. "... I'm sorry I caused you pain, Tarrant ..." Her fingers continued moving along his countenance, trying to clean the wounds. Suddenly, he grabbed both of her wrists and pulled her hands down, resting them in her lap as he smiled weakly.
"Stop blaming yourself, okay?" he murmured softly. "Stayne just likes to beat up some of us weaker students so he can look tough and frightening. He's beat me up countless times...hell, I remember him going after me one of the first days he arrived. Besides...it was entertaining watching you hit the Queen; she had it coming in my opinion, though I'm sure you'll agree." Blushing subtly, he leaned forward and kissed her quickly before releasing her wrists. "Please don't blame yourself...okay? I'm just glad you weren't hurt."
Valerie stopped her fretting when he gently took her wrists in his large hands. She lowered her gaze to her lap for a moment, before looking up at him through her lashes, which had become wet with tears full of emotion. Her lower lip began to tremble as he spoke, but she bit down on it in an attempt to stop the shaking.
"Stop blaming yourself, okay? Stayne just likes to beat up some of us weaker students so he can look tough and frightening. He's beat me up countless times...hell, I remember him going after me one of the first days he arrived."
He suddenly leaned forward and gently kissed her, causing her to blink quickly in surprise. She flushed a light pink and looked up at him through her lashes once more, wiping at her eyes as she did so, and she bit her cheek.
"Besides...it was entertaining watching you hit the Queen; she had it coming in my opinion, though I'm sure you'll agree."
"Oh, you have no idea how much I've wanted to punch her since I first met her this morning. She's psychotic, a total bitch, a coward, and ..." she trailed off, smirking just a little. "There are far too many words that can be used to describe that whore," she shook her head.
"Please don't blame yourself...okay? I'm just glad you weren't hurt."
She gave him an incredulous look. "I can't help the fact that I blame myself for something that clearly was my fault. Stop trying to convince me it isn't my fault, dummy ..." she muttered, shaking her head again at him. She took his hand in hers and stared at it for a moment, then turned her face up to his. "Let's get a look at your ribs, alright?"
With that in mind, she gently pushed him back across the bed and forced him to stay that way. "Lay still," she ordered. She slowly and gingerly opened his shirt, grimacing at the horrific bruising already beginning to appear on his abdomen. "He really beat you up, didn't he?" she asked quietly, reaching over to the first aid kit. She removed an instant-ice package, cracked and shook it, before she placed it softly across his rib cage.
Her hands hovered above his abdomen, and she stared down at the back of them, seeming to contemplate something. Before she knew what she was doing, she was spilling everything to him. "Jacob ... Was my little brother ... And it was my fault that he died ... And my parents died ... And my sister ..." She sat back in her chair and stared at her lap, crossing her legs on the seat of the chair. "They're all dead, and it's all my fault," she whispered, lifting her hands and covering her eyes. "Jacob and my parents died in a car accident when I was nine. My father looked away from the wheel just for a moment, just to look at a drawing I made for him, and the next thing I knew, he was tearing me out from between two cars. They died that day ..."
"Amanda ... She hanged herself a few months ago from depression. If only I had paid more attention, it never would have happened ..."
She rose and turned away from him for a moment, her breathing shaky and trembling. "Tarrant ... I'm going to show you something that I have never, in my entire life, shown anyone. Promise me that you won't laugh, or ... Or ... Be disgusted," she begged, tears in her eyes. Swallowing back the fear she had felt her entire life over showing anyone what she was about to show him.
Before she lost what she referred to as her 'gumption', she reached down and gripped the bottom of her tank top, tore it off of her head, and bared her upper body for him, her arms across her chest in an attempt to at least hide a bit of her body from him.
Lining her stomach, stretching from beneath one breast, across her abdomen, and to her opposite hip, was a scar. It was jagged, yet a shiny white and not ugly in the least. However, in her mind, ugly was what it was. Horrific and disgusting in every way possible. After a few moments, having decided he'd gotten his fill, she turned away from him. "Ugly, isn't it?" she asked dryly. "Don't lie to me; it's horrific."
Tarrant "Mad Hatter" Hightopp
"I can't help the fact that I blame myself for something that clearly was my fault. Stop trying to convince me it isn't my fault, dummy ..." she replied in a mutter. Tarrant forced a smile and gave a weak laugh, trying to appear in good-spirits, even though he hardly felt happy or peppy...he just felt pain. Valerie had taken his hand in hers and he, subconsciously, intertwined his fingers with her. Despite what feelings she had toward him, the Hatter was absolutely certain he was in love. She was just perfect; absolutely and inexplicably perfect. "Let's get a look at your ribs, alright?" Tarrant frowned and moved one of his hands so it was hovering right over his stomach, as if trying to prevent her from seeing the bruises he knew would be forming. Stayne had, undoubtedly, broken countless little blood vessels and, of course, the Hatter didn't want Alice to see them.
Gently, her pushed him back on the bed and he simply went with it, hardly having the strength nor the desire to hold her back and continue hiding the contusions. "Lay still", she ordered, as he began to wriggle lightly. Obeying her command, he stopped fighting and let his head rest on her pillow, clenching his jaw in worry. From the way her expression suddenly changed, Tarrant simply knew she had seen the bruises forming.
"That bad....huh?" he murmured in a slightly weak manner, still forcing a smile despite the pain.
"He really beat you up, didn't he?" murmured Alice, reaching for the first-aid kit and pulling out an instant ice-pack.
"You get used t-" began Tarrant, cutting himself off as she placed the freezing-cold ice pack against his bare flesh. His chest lifted up slightly as his muscles tensed in a rigor mortis fashion. It took him a few heartbeats, but he recovered from the shock, and noticed Valerie's hands hovering just above his abdomen, while she stared at them.
"Val...?" he whispered, brow furrowing. In an instant, she began to spill everything to him. And, suddenly, it all made sense. She'd lost her brother, her mother, her father. She was lost, confused, without a friend...and he'd been selfish enough to complain about some Daddy issues and his mother's death. His feigned smile faded and yet another wave of guilt washed over him. How selfish could he be? And, why the hell hadn't he realized that Valerie might have come from a back story almost similar to his? The way she blamed herself though...he couldn't help but relate her to himself, couldn't help but remember feeling the same way after his father had called with the news of his mother's passing. It had taken so long to stop blaming himself. Then again, he still did blame himself for it. Maybe if he had been born normal...or if he hadn't acted out as a boy, he could have lived a normal life. He kept telling himself this, over and over again, and prayed that somehow he'd be able to go back in time and just fix everything.
"Tarrant ... I'm going to show you something that I have never, in my entire life, shown anyone. Promise me that you won't laugh, or ... Or ... Be disgusted." The extreme seriousness of her tone made the Hatter quickly zone in again and look up at her, waiting to hear. What could it be...? He felt about the same level of anticipation as a child would on Christmas Eve; what could possibly be this...intense? Before he knew it, she was pulling her tank top off of her head and his brow furrowed slightly in surprise. That didn't make any sense to him...his brow furrowed again in confusion and he opened his mouth...only to notice the long, pale scar that ran diagonally across her stomach. His eyes met it instantly and he wore a bewildered expression, shocked and speechless. Quickly, she turned away. "Ugly isn't it? Don't lie to me; it's horrific."
"...i-it's not," he stammered out, slowly sitting up and wincing. "I-it's..." He trailed off, unable to think of the correct word. In fact, yet another wave of guilt was rising up, hitting him right in the face and sending him reeling backwards. All he could think of were the thin, razor blade marks on his wrists, on his stomach, on his legs...the ones he'd gotten tattooed over. He'd created those scars on himself...he had had a choice. Valerie hadn't had a choice...Tarrant gulped lightly, his Adam's apple bobbing in his throat. "...it's beautiful, really," he murmured, meeting her gaze without wavering. His eyes widened slightly, realizing that may not have been the best choice of words. "I-I...I mean, it's really not ugly at all...i-it's..." He groaned softly and face-palmed lightly. "I'm sorry...I just...I don't know what to say...it just isn't ugly, alright?" Again that sounded like a mistake, so he bowed his head slightly to avoid her gaze.
"... I-it's not ... I-it's..." He suddenly stopped speaking, causing her to peak over her shoulder at him, looking at him through her blond hair.
"... It's beautiful, really." Valerie scowled a bit at him, opening her mouth to reply with an angered answer, yet her continued on before she could. "I-I...I mean, it's really not ugly at all...i-it's... I'm sorry...I just...I don't know what to say...it just isn't ugly, alright?"
For a moment, she only stared at him, her expression incredulous. This was the guy that she had fallen for. The guy that had led her from the garden, that had taken a beating that should have happened to her, and the same guy that she had found out was nearly the most insane person at her new school.
Yet, all she saw in his expression was a sorrow, an apology, and an endless abyss of pain.
It was at that exact moment in time, that she swore she would fix him.
She would fix his depression that was so obvious despite the happy exterior he put on. She would fix his drug addiction problems, and help him return to the track of life that had originally been met for him. She would help him.
With that in mind, she moved over and sat beside him on the bed, tugging her tank top back on and easily adjusting it. She gently pushed him to lay back down, returned the ice back to his abdomen, and gave him a small, gentle smile.
"I know what you meant, so you don't need to feel so embarrassed," she said quietly, lifting her legs and cross them, her hands in her lap. She pressed her lips together for a moment, before looking at him through her bangs.
"I'm sorry I told you everything. I meant to only explain who Jacob was, and the next thing I knew, I was telling you everything," she said sheepishly, fidgeting a little. She wrung her hands together, pursing her lips, before she leaned over him and smiled. "Thank you for not being disgusted with me, Tarrant. Tarrant ..." she trailed off, seeming to think for a moment, before she straightened and stuck her tongue out at him. "Never mind."
It was only around noon, which left them the rest of the day to spend together, and her the rest of the day and night to prepare for her classes the next day. Rising, Valerie made her way over to the small kitchen that her grandmother had insisted on there being in her room due to her 'odd' circumstances, and removed a soda bottle and a bag of chips. She returned to the bed and threw herself across it, laying beside him, remote in hand. She easily flipped the television on, and offered him a grin. "How about this great idea," she began, smiling at him, "We stay in here for the remainder of the day, order Chinese food, watch some scary movies, and then you can show me that spot where you watch the sun rise and set?" she offered, picking up his hand in between both of hers. She began to play with it, moving his fingers in random directions, and flopping his hand back and forth by his wrist. She laughed at her antics, not really understanding why she was enjoying this so much.
She lost her smile a little. "I just want to live again, Tarrant. I want to live my life. I want to be happy, before my parents and brother died, before my sister committed suicide. I want ... I want to be happy again," she trailed off, staring at his hand. She lifted it and gently kissed the back of it, their fingers twined together. "I want to live again. Is that such a bad thing to wish for? To be happy? Is it so wrong?"
Out of nowhere, she perked up with a smile. "Let's not be upset. Hm ... What to talk about ..." she trailed off, studying his hands. Oh, how she loved his hands. They were bigger then hers, were not disgustingly hairy, and he had a strong grip, which made her feel safe and secure. She rest her head on his shoulder. "I love saying your name. Tarrant. It's pleasant to say and rolls off of my tongue easily. It just feels ... Right saying it, you know? I don't know how to explain it," she said, lifting his hand and kissing it again.
Tarrant "Mad Hatter" Hightopp
God, he felt like such an idiot for the way he stuttered and stumbled over his words while trying to address Valerie's statement. It wasn't ugly, it was actually quite pretty, for a scar, but after she scowled at him, he continued rambling on, trying to find the correct word until deciding on "not ugly". The look she gave him was one of disbelief and complete shock. Tarrant's brow furrowed slightly and he bowed his head, turning it away as if afraid he had insulted her and she would lash out at him or yell at him...not like he could blame her if she did, though.
"I'm sorry," he murmured softly, tongue pressed against the inside of his cheek softly. He assumed she would either force him out or walk out herself but, instead, she was slowly sitting beside him and pulling the tanktop on. Once her stomach and that thin, pale scar were covered, she gently pushed him backwards on the bed, which he allowed her to do without a protest. The ice pack was replaced on his abdomen again and his abs flexed on their own from the sudden cold.
"I know what you meant, so you don't need to feel so embarrassed," Valerie said softly, crossing her legs and placing her hands in her lap. The way she pressed her lips together and then looked through her bangs caused Tarrant to smile slightly in a genuine fashion. He'd never felt so relieved before in his life. Or maybe he had felt it once before when the charges against him were dropped?
[b]"I'm sorry I told you everything. I meant to only explain who Jacob was, and the next thing I knew, I was telling you everything,"
she said sheepishly, fidgeting a little. She wrung her hands together, pursing her lips, before she leaned over him and smiled. "Thank you for not being disgusted with me, Tarrant. Tarrant ..." she trailed off, seeming to think for a moment. Tarrant raised his eyebrow and then smirked again as she straightened and stuck her tongue out at him. "Never mind."
Val slowly stood up and walked to the dorm's kitchen, grabbing a bottle of soda and a bag of chips, which she brought over to the bed, along with the remote. She flopped down beside him and he blushed ever so slightly again before forcing the blush away. She grinned up at him and he returned the smile, though he was curious as to what she had in mind. "How about this great idea?" she said, still smiling. "We stay in here for the remainder of the day, order Chinese food, watch some scary movies, and you can show me that spot where you watch the sun rise and set?" She picked up his hand slowly and started to play with his hand, wiggling it back and forth between her own hands by his wrist. She gave a light, soft laugh at her actions and he joined her; his baritone laugh mixing with her light soprano-like one.
"That sounds great," he murmured softly, letting his head fall softly against the pillow, feeling completely lax and at ease until Alice lost her smile a little.
""I just want to live again, Tarrant. I want to live my life. I want to be happy, before my parents and brother died, before my sister committed suicide. I want ... I want to be happy again," she trailed off, staring at his hand. She lifted it and gently kissed the back of it, their fingers twined together. "I want to live again. Is that such a bad thing to wish for? To be happy? Is it so wrong?" Tarrant slowly shook his head, silently agreeing that no, it wasn't wrong at all. That was all he wanted too, after all. "Let's not be upset. Hm ... What to talk about ..." she trailed off, studying his hands, which dwarfed hers. She rested her head on his shoulder and he smiled slightly again. "I love saying your name. Tarrant. It's pleasant to say and rolls off of my tongue easily. It just feels ... Right saying it, you know? I don't know how to explain it," she said, lifting his hand and kissing it again. Tarrant turned his neck slightly to be at the right angle to gently kiss her cheek before settling back into his former position.
"Mother always said she loved the name Tarrant for almost the same reasons. She said it was different, unique, fun," he murmured. "She always loved that kind of stuff...she'd take in a kitten with three legs because, even though it was different, it was still a kitten...maybe that's why she cared so much for me? Guess I'll never know, huh?" The Hatter swallowed quickly and then tapped the fingers of his free hand against his thigh, trying to think. "...what's your favorite color?" he asked, trying to make the subject a bit lighter.
"Mother always said she loved the name Tarrant for almost the same reasons. She said it was different, unique, fun. She always loved that kind of stuff... She'd take in a kitten with three legs because, even though it was different, it was still a kitten...maybe that's why she cared so much for me? Guess I'll never know, huh?"
"I doubt that's the reason why she cared about you. I, for one, care about you for more then just the uniqueness of your personality and name," she said, rolling her eyes at him. "Besides, she sounds like a wonderful woman. She doesn't seem to be the type of person that would love the advantages that came with being around a person, instead of the actual person," she told him, her voice reassuring.
Obviously trying to change the subject to a more happier one, he spoke up again, his fingers thrumming on his thigh. "... What's your favorite color?"
What an odd question to ask ... But I suppose he's quite the odd person, now isn't he?
They spent the next hour switching between watching a movie and talking to each other. Eventually, Valerie dozed off into a light nap, her head resting on Tarrant's shoulder as she cuddled into his side. She didn't dream - which was shocking due to the fact that she dreamed every night - and was only asleep for a few minutes at the most, but it helped her rid herself of her headache, and she awoke to find that she had been snuggling against Tarrant.
She flushed a light pink but cuddled closer to him for a moment longer, not really wanting to move from the warmth of his body, before she forced herself away. She sat up and rubbed at her eyes, and then turned and looked at the clock. Noting the time, she rounded on him and grinned happily. "We should go and visit that place you told me about. It sounded really pretty, and I really want to go. Besides, the sun should be setting soon!" she exclaimed, jumping up and grabbing his hand eagerly.
Re: Wonderland Academy
The reason it's centers around the Hatter and Alce is because people aren't posting, not even Avid, which is really dumb. I hate it when people join an RP and then just ... Stop posting entirely. What makes it worse is when the creator does it, too. It wouldn't be centered around Tarrant and Alice if people actually posted :/
Re: Wonderland Academy
I stopped posting because I felt like this was basically just centered on Alice and The Hatter at this point ^_^;
Re: Wonderland Academy
Nuuuuuuuuuuu Scar don't do that or I'll cry Dx but yeah I'm getting pretty frustrated over it too. I mean, the creator of te RP isn't even posting :/
Re: Wonderland Academy
I know...that's why the other characters should post.
But, I think I'm going to put Tarrant and Stayne up for adoption. It bugs me, because I really bonded with both characters, but I hardly know what to write for either of them.
Re: Wonderland Academy
I try to post often, but there's only so much you can post about in Anastasia's position.
Re: Wonderland Academy
I sort of don't know what to post anymore...the plot is so centered on Alice and the Hatter now because no one else posts...
Re: Wonderland Academy
I kind of feel like only Scar, Star, Fate, Sara, and I are the only ones posting ... Like ever. Even Avid isn't postiing ... So ... What hell is going on everyone? :/
Re: Wonderland Academy
OurStars: I was trying push that along to be honest. I can picture her doing something like I the movie 'Carrie' by dumping pig guts all over her and then maybe doing something to, say, break her leg, or something along those lines. Julianna seemed PISSED XD
Re: Wonderland Academy
I'll probably respond in a little bit- doing Bio homework at the moment. This'll probably be the point at which Julianna stops finding Alice quite as amusing.
Re: Wonderland Academy
OutStars: awesome. I was kinda just going with the flow of how Alice/Valerie would've reacted and thought that was a good response. I like Julianna too, though, so don't worry about it :)
Re: Wonderland Academy
Kura:
EDIT: Actually, it's fine :-)
I know I should be rooting for Alice, being the 'brave new girl' and all, but being Julianna is making me root for her instead. Bias, huh? ^_^
Re: Wonderland Academy
I'm back, sorry for falling off the face of the planet. I'm having some home and identity issues so I've been having a hard time holding muses.
Re: Wonderland Academy
Then post for Tarrant lady! XD
Re: Wonderland Academy
Soooo, I don't really know what to post for Stayne now...
Re: Wonderland Academy
@Kura: Exaaactly xD
Hm, alright. I better go to sleep too since it's nearly twelve in the morning now. Time flies, jeez...ooh, school was cancelled for you today? Lucky! I was praying for a delay but we didn't even get one D:
Re: Wonderland Academy
Scar: yeah I'd be like "Dude ... Wtf is wrong with you ... I just met you, like, two hours ago ..."
If he hasn't posted by tomorrow morning or when I get out of school (depending on if we have a two hour delay or are cancelled again) Ill change my post and will let you know that I did. But for now, I'm off to bed. So tah-tah lovelies! :D
Re: Wonderland Academy
@Kura: I actually really do, too xDD The only problem is that I've never done acid so I have NO clue what the effects are 0.o RESEARCH TIME! Ooh, I'm dying to see her reaction ehehe. Well, I think he already knows he likes her, he's just skirting around the issue because he's afraid running up to her and saying "I love you" is going to creep her out, not like you can blame either of them. I think that would sort of creep me out xD
Re: Wonderland Academy
Scar: I kinda wanna have her see him all high an crap xD I think it be interesting I already know what her reaction would be :P how long is it going to take him to admit that he luuuuuuuurvs her?
Re: Wonderland Academy
Hm...damn it. Well, you don't have to, if you don't want to. Tarrant's just off getting high on acid. Valerie can take her time xD
Re: Wonderland Academy
Scar: I may have to change my post. Doctor hasn't been on since the 25th
