Cole stopped the vehicle and got out. A thought that had been floating around in the back of his mind now came slamming to the forefront. He had gotten into this line of work because he had wanted to help mutantkind, then he had become vengeful and self-destructive after Claire had died. He was lost, adrift in the world with a car and a sword. He was one man. One man couldn't make a difference, but a team. The X-Men, The Brotherhood, they'd seen it. You needed a group to change the world.
He got back in the jeep and turned back to the former MTD safehouse. He would pick up Maintenance and leave the organization forever. It was time to start a new family.
