The sun was setting, a beautiful shade of orange covered the sky. It was slightly blocked by the clouds but that just made the scenery that much more beautiful. Wolf was sitting on the roof of the meeting hall in Kolera. It was the hall were each of the members of Fang would meet and discuss what needed to be done to keep the town running. He looked to the west and saw the lake and not far behind it the mountains that had a path that lead straight into the heart of Crimeth. But the thought of Crimeth wasn’t what was on his mind. All that was on his mind was the sunset and how the sun was coming down so slowly and how the mountains blocked some of the light but allowed just enough to cause the lake to glow a mystical blue color. His attention was slowly drawn to the east where it was growing dark, he saw the forest that lead to the eastern part of Crimeth and than to Dregnovia.

Wolf’s ears than heard the sound of tapping he turned around to the ladder. He then watched as Gabriel climbed to the top of the ladder and than crawled across the roof. Wolf smiled and said “aren’t you supposed to be with your guards? I always thought royalty never liked to be unguarded.” Gabriel crawled to the side of the roof Wolf was on, he swung his legs over the edge and responded “ I can take care of myself, my guards know that and you will soon learn that.” Wolf looked up at the sky and said “ I never said you couldn’t take care of yourself, I just wanted to know if it was ok for you to be up here alone.” Gabriel’s head started to turn to look at Wolf, but he then turned in the other direction and said “ why do you think I can’t go where I please? My life is mine alone, my guards are helpful and kind, but whatever happens is destined to happen they can‘t fight fate on my behalf . Plus if I want to be king I must be self sufficient or the nobles will walk all over me. You of all people should know what I speak of seeing as how you live the life of a mercenary, nothing is ever just handed to you right? ” Wolf pulled his feet off the edge and than stood up and looked down at Gabriel, he chuckled slightly and said “ I ask you a few simple questions and you give me a lecture in response. It’s funny, I never would have guessed a blind man could see the world so clearly even though his eyes allow him to only see darkness.”

Gabriel sat looking toward the direction of Wolf’s voice, he than said “How do you know I am blind, I never showed you my eyes.” Wolf smiled and said “ by hiding things from others you draw more attention to the thing you are trying to hide. You should trying letting people see you for who you are. That’s what the people want from their king.” Wolf walked toward the ladder and Gabriel said to him “ wait.” Wolf turned to look at him, Gabriel swung his legs back on the roof, he slowly stood up and than looked toward wolf, Gabriel’s cold grey eyes were fixed on the direction Wolf was standing at, but Gabriel could see nothing but darkness. Gabriel smiled and said to Wolf “thank you for talking to me like a normal person, most people don’t do that when they find out about my eyes.” Wolf shook his head and said “ don’t say such embarrassing things kid, it just makes the situation awkward. But your welcome.” Wolf than climbed down the ladder, he than walked to the center of the town. Gabriel turned from the ladder and stared up at the sky. He couldn’t tell what time of day it was, but he felt warm, he thought that it must just be the sun, but in his heart he knew that his warmth was coming from the happiness that he had gained, knowing that there was someone who would finally see him as normal.
