I looked up at Sophia, shocked only by the absolute randomness of the question. "No, it's alright. I lost my father two years ago. We were all sitting down for dinner when he just... died. Right there at the table. I'll never forget it." I shook my head with a half smile. It's not that this was particularly funny, it was that I really hadn't thought about this in a while. Almost a year and a half, actually. My mother and I had both gotten over it quickly, me more so than her. Sometimes I thought she still cried for him, though she swore she didn't. "The autopsy said that he had gone into sudden cardiac arrest caused by some kind of poison in his wine; so I guess it was technically murder.... They never found out who did it, but they took one of our chefs to quiet the media."
