Camilla Jordan Roth made her way into the main cafeteria. It was around nine in the morning and about half the student population would be on their way to breakfasat on this Monday morning. She hurried through the line picking up a fruit parfait and some chocolate milk before sitting at one of the few empty tables left. Cami was still partially asleep and didn't feel like socializing so soon after waking up. She considered what to do today. There were plenty of things to do at the school, especially since they didn't spend a whole lot of time actually in class.
Cami considered going swimming, playing cards, going to the library, and even going 'shopping' for new clothes. Cami didn't like calling it shopping. She'd learned in one of her classes before moving into the Castle On A Cloud that before Earth was put under Alien leadership humans used to work their jobs to earn money and some people would make more than others. They would use the money to pay for the things they needed and if they had extra money they'd buy things they didn't need but simply wanted.
Now Cami didn't have money. Nobody did. They all had stores still. But nothing had a price for it. You simply had to pick whatever you wanted give it to the clerk-an automated robot- so they could keep track of what was still in stock, they'd check you out and you were free to go. Cami agreed that this was a much more productive system. With a limited population there was always resources to spare.
Cami took another sip of her milk before starting on her parfait.
