Running was a way of life, a simple, yet extroadinarily life saving task to do. All you had to do was unchain the door to the subway station, rechain the door on your way out, and run as fast as you could towards a source of food. Those who were lucky came back with food for the other refugees. Those who were not....Well, lets say they atleast werent killed. Right now. Running seemed an impossible task.
"God damn it"
Cursed Reese as she saw he shapes of hundreds of Mutts swarming around the back entrance of the subway station. She was assigned to retrieve food from one of the stalls there, but with all the Mutts around it would be impossible. If thier leader was seriously stupid enough to send her out in the midle of the day, unprotected except for her guns, then he was eriously trying to get her killed. Quick. There was her chance. Running as fast as her legs would take her she ended up in the shadow of a tall building. If she ran fast enough she could get to the stall, back to the building, and into the subways system again.
"3......2......1"
She took off, her speed quit fast for a meer human, she grabbed a crate from the stall, laughing slightly as she heard the Mutt protest, she ran to the building, hid in the shadow for just a moment before dashing bck off into the subways. Chaining the door after her and smiling in triumph.
"and she returns!"
Reese shouted at the other refugees. There werent many, and alot of them were either too old or too young to be able to fight properly. It was her and a few others jobs to look after them. To her dissapointment when she pied the lid of the crate there was only bread, and uncooked hot dogs. Of course, she had to get the stall that was selling ho dogs. She shrugged, and distributed the bread evenly among the survivors. Looks like she wasnt going to eat tonight.
"Hey Lance, get a fire goin will ya"
She shouted to one of the many refugees was also an escaped Mutt.
