"Woah, Dan-man! You nearly blew out one of the speakers back there!" Ricky exclaimed as Daniel stepped down from the DJ booth with a small sigh. He'd been doing this for about three hours, and he really,
really wanted to keep going, but...
Ricky, seeing the look on his student's face, decided not to be too harsh. "Maybe I was just pushin' you a little far, eh? You deserve some rest after that." Daniel, however, didn't seem too keen on this idea. "But... why can't I practice for just a little bit longer? Five more minutes?" Ricky couldn't help but chuckle at that question. "First, you asked for five more minutes about half an hour ago. Second, you're just gonna mess up more and more as you get more frustrated. Buuuut... If you really wanna keep practicing, it's your choice, not mine."
"Maybe you're right, Rick. If you need me, I'll be in my room..." That being said, Daniel went up the stairs to the upper rooms. Entering the last door on the left, he sat down on his bed and looked around the room. He knew he probably should be at school, but he could afford to miss out the occasional day for DJ practice. Besides, he even sent an email to the school, two days in advance. That was the beauty of being organised; everything just fell into place, like the pieces of a jigsaw...
His eyes strayed to a small bowl of water which held a little... stone? Pebble? He wasn't exactly sure what it was, except that he found it about a week ago, on his seventeenth birthday, in a puddle while going home from school after an hour-long downpour. The weird thing was that all the other puddles were muddy, but the one with the stone in was as clear as a polished mirror. He took the stone (or whatever the hell it was) out of the bowl, noticing that the water hadn't stagnated at all from the moment the stone was put into that bowl. It was more or less the same size and shape of a chicken's egg, and it was so... so...
blue, like a deep ocean blue.
He looked at one of the walls of his room, where a large, ultramarine-blue sheet hung, like some sort of curtain. The sheet had a pattern of wavy turquoise lines on it, like ripples on water. Sitting down on the bed again, he stared at the stone, entranced by how... well, how
blue it was...
