Rynus had been following after his sister earlier to make sure that things would go smoothly. He had sincerely hope for her to find some happiness with the man she had been courting. A relationship between a dragon and a human could change the shape of the world and maybe even slow the wars destructive progress. That couldn't have been a bad thing. Unfortunately, such an event was not to be.

As he neared where his sister had been headed, a gunshot range out. What the heck?! Rynus took off into the woods. That had to be from his sister's meeting! Has he neared the lake where she always was, and suddenly, gunshots erupted around him. He dived behind a tree as the shots peppered around him. He peeked out to see a mass of soldiers around the lake, with a number of them with guns trained on his location. Crap! That was not good. The had him pinned down. He had to escape. After a few seconds, he generated a quick plan.

He throw a rock out toward his right. The soldiers instinctively looked that direction, and Rynus took off the other way. The soldiers notice quickly and fired after him, but unfortunately for them, they were a beat too slow. He was almost gone by the time they opened fire, he was too far away for it to be effective.

He ran for... well, who knows how long. He stopped only when he was fairly sure he had lost them, and saw a figure slumped against a nearby tree. Wait, that was Astrea! And she was bleeding! He ripped off his sleeve quickly and rapped it around the wound he could see. It looked pretty bad, but Rynus started to treat it as best as she could. As he did, he said hurridly, "Astrea! Astrea, can you hear me?!"
