The main hall of the castle was filled with decorations and many people had already arrived, but every minute more and more carriages were arriving and more and more people would come out of each one and enter the main hall. Everyone had masks, you couldn't see what anyone's face really looked like, but you could tell the outlines of their facial details.

Shinku Haraku watched the land of Cantarella pass by silently through the window of the carriage. She was wearing a dress similar to the one she usually wore, but it was longer. She was wearing a black and white masquerade mask that hid her face, except for her eyes, and she had her white cross necklace around her neck like always. After a couple minutes, the carriage she was in pulled up to the castle doors. The person who had been driving the carriage came around and opened the door of the carriage for Shinku. Shinku stepped out of the carriage and looked at what would be her new home.
It was big, Shinku had never been in a place this big before. There were so many people and carriages that is was somewhat overwhelming. Shinku wasn't used to being in big crowds, but it didn't bug her much. She walked through the main doors of the castle and into the main hall. There were so many people inside, most of them were talking but some were dancing. Today her and some other girls would be meeting the princes and it would be announced who they would be getting engaged to.
Shinku got lost in thought, wondering who she would be getting engaged to. She looked down at the black silk gloves that covered the identical cross symbols that were on her palms. For a while, she forgot all about what was going on around her. When she looked up, others were staring at her, probably wondering why she was staring at her hands.
