The light was not anywhere reasonable at this hour and in this place of which Tempy was. It was dark out and it was bothering her greatly. Her brown eyes barely flickered with a hint of anything more than agitation. The light wasn't very common at this hour in New York, or so she had been told. She had a coat so tightly wrapped around her facade that it nearly hurt her to hold her grip on it. Her eyes trampled over towards a towering building and her head lifted. Her long brown hair was curled up into a bun and tightly strung to the top of her head by a single hair tie.

Temperance was walking slowly along a street in the over-crowded and over-industrialized city of New York. The lights where dim and the mood had shifted from lively to droned and ugly. Distaste tainted her mouth and she cringed at the feeling of darkness. It swarmed her until she bounced under a street light and shook herself a little, pressing her lips tightly together. The moderate building to her left was where she stayed during the times she wanted to feel human again, feel normal.

The girl wanted nothing more than a normal life. Her story was one of many sad tale's that she chose to ignore on her quest for acknowledgement. Tempy wished to be normal right now, normal all the time. Her eyes flashed with a brief anger and she spat onto the side walk, the dark closing in on even the light as it flickered above her head. She groaned and flicked her hood over her head, trying to hide from the darkness when it simply latched on to her skin like a big, gross, leach. Temperance whined a little, only down the street where the bright city lights and the bars with their exotic dancers and drunk men.

She made a mad dash for the bright lights when the light finally gave it's last farewell above her head and she trampled a man over while eventually ending up against a brick building, pressing herself back and sucking in a deep breath. Her eyes wandered slowly around the area, glancing quite softly at the neon bar signs. She slid down against the brick, letting the light make her sigh gently and smile slightly. The slightest of light made her feel more comfortable. More at home in her own skin did the transparent lighting fixtures make Tempy feel. This, however, was easily confused to be human flesh and bones.

The rags of skin and fleshy substances only helped the life of a monster survive and thrive. Her eyes flashed yellow for an instant instead of their regular brown and she cupped her hands over them instantly, as if it where planned or a reflex. It was a reflex. The darkness calmed the fluids in her mind, though she hated it so. It calmed her pulse, made her relax, and eventually let her have her solitude with the neon lights.

The lights in the old building went short for an instant and by the time they had flashed back on, Temperance was gone. She had tore off back down the dark alley and straight up a building but not in a natural, human, fleshy body. She was now in her morphus. It had become gradually easier for her to use this skill, but at the moment, the fear and anger of the neon lights flickering sent her into a frenzy and she shot up the building using her long, crooked-looking, hooked, legs. The body of a spider and head of a wolf tore through onto the roof. The moon rested above the monsters head and a whimper turned into a low, soft howl. It ended with a girl, laying on her side in the light of the moon.

Sadly, Tempy hated this switching. The pulsing in her mind was uncontrollable and led straight to catastrophe and death of a regular, innocent human. So, she fought it with her will. She didn't want to be seen like that. Not like some sort of animal. Her gaze flickered. She was eighteen years old. Seventeen was the shifting year. She should have had herself under control by now, right? Wrong. Her hatred and anger and actions led to a mental instability which fluctuated, making her shift when her anger finally blew off. It took hard work for her to keep herself under control, especially in the darkest of hours. Lust for something dark and evil rested but pumped through her brain and she dug her fingers into the rooftop, barely scratching the surface of her misery. The light took too long to arrive. It seemed like an eternity. Though, Temperance would wait every night. She would do as she could to go on.
