"We just need a place to stay for the day. I have another friend back there, a young fellow. Could you perhaps let us stay until the moon shows itself again?"

Kirenai nearly smiled. Nearly. "Now, now don't get ahead of yourselves. Firstly, why should I trust someone who uses false names. Of course, if they are real I am very much sorry, and pity your misfortune. Secondly, why in the world should I let you stay? You are strange to me, and I have no reason to help you. The 'humane' thing to do does not apply to our world, does it? So if you want to stay, you better be prepared to pay for it. This house doesn't run on 'please'."

Just then Kirenai realized Delilah was looking at that other vampire. For some reason, that irked him to no end. Frowning slightly, kirenai hooked his arm around her waist, pulling her close. Kirenai wasn't sure why he did it; his arm just moved on a whim.
