Just when the meeting reached a point at which Falwich believed there would be no other courses left to follow but to either back down and apologise or stand up and fight (Of which there was, of course, no real choice for one as stubborn as himself), the atmosphere changed again. Kaine turned on him, apparently venting any and all frustrations on his own faction. Whether he was worried or scared Falwich couldn't tell, he chose to concentrate on his reply rather than trying to read Kaine's thoughts. It was not that he couldn't do both but rather that he did not want to aggravate the situation further by throwing individual powers into an argument. But he could not close his mind completely and so when Vance chose to direct a thought towards him he could not help but hear it and struggle as he tried to listen to two faction members at once, one internally and the other verbally.

Falwich, I know you do not trust Elei'mei, and you have every right not to. But I am asking you to back down from this aggressive demeanor. Do you really think I am welcoming this creature just for the hell of it? Open your eyes Falwich, she proves useful. Now stand down, and get Gabbe to do so as well. You're both starting to step out of line. This isn't your typical get together and both your behaviors are making us out to be ignorant amateurs.

The words were harsh and in the end nothing but an order. Falwich was as smart as any of the others, yet he was not wise enough to accept when he was wrong and so he dismissed the words from Vance and continued to throw his own words into the fray, now rapidly beggining to lose control of himself, unsure of where he should focus his growing rage and frustration.

"The past is the past Kaine, unless we wish to stand around telling stories for the rest of our lives then it doesn't matter what happened before. If you want to live in the past then stay here, keep talking and wait for the planet to die with you on it. Me? I'd rather leave and forget this place than turn to dust- Hey! Kaine, I'm talking to you, do not dare to turn your back on me!"

Kaine had started to walk off towards Vance and placed a hand on his shoulder. Falwich had by this point left his seat and took a step forward, only now noticing that Kiera had taken a defensive position between himself and the Aduro, and reached out with his mind, intent on somehow making Kaine hear him out before he left the room. But before Kaine even reached the door he simply disappeared. Falwich's first thought was that he had somehow found a way to transform himself in such a way that he would become completely camouflaged but the mental connection suggested something else entirely.

In a moment the telepath received a blinding image in his mind's eye: The first visual image he had gleaned from another consciousness. He saw a mountainside and the vast expanse of their own homeworld's skies stretching before him. He saw the death which ravaged the lands and he saw a great bird brightening up the sky. Then he saw only darkness and stopped in his tracks, shocked by the vivid view. The sudden breaking of such a connection also left him particularly sensitive to the thoughts of those around him and he heard voices both inside and outside his head, the voices of his faction members, and he found it difficult to separate them.

β€œWhat just happened?”

β€œWhere did he go? Has he ever done that before?”

β€œWhat the hell?!”

And then Vance, calm as ever even regarding his previous mental message and the growing unease of the situation, simply seeming to accept the fact. Well if that were the case then Falwich would not choose to share what he knew and what he could do. If their own leader could keep secrets, therefore they all could.

So he stepped back, now quieter and just a little disorientated.

"Wherever he's gone I hope he stays there a while. He can catch up with his past and we can talk about moving on for a change."

He slumped back into his chair, all anger washed away and replaced by an increasing sense of frustration and impatience. The sudden change in demeanour would be clear to all but he would choose to keep the details of the reasoning to himself for now. Two members had now been contacted by their spirit creators (At least he assumed that is what had happened to Kaine, for there were no birds of such majesty left in the skies of Lado) and he began to think that it would not be long before they would all be visited upon. He wished this meeting to be over before his own time came, which led to him now sitting motionless with a furrowed brow, mind working feverishly to think about the potential of this new skill he had aquired and the ramifications of having discovered it through anger, as well as what he might say to his own spirit creator at the meeting he now thought of as inevitable.
