Vance fell silent as the events stirred before him. His mind seemed to have shut itself down when Kaine disappeared. He remained thoughtless and only stared into the emptiness before him. Somehow, Kaine had disappeared. It occurred to Vance that his disappearance was a result of his own free will, not by other unknown forces. He then heard Elei'mei ask Falwich to search her mind for answers to their doubts. However, Vance no longer saw any threats. He assessed his faction realizing how weak they were. They were not united, loyal, yes, but torn apart. Everyone's differences pulled them away from each other. And all those things that could never be said were being spit out in front of them in this room. This stranger before him taught him a lesson, that it is not power alone that makes a force great. He wasn't sure how to react to Kaine's disappearance. The room remained tense and heated with mixed emotions of rage, confusion, and tiredness. Vance felt empty, like there was nothing left in him besides a dead, lonely world he helped make to be. He watched Gabbe pull together a new trick, small amounts of energy bouncing between her fingers. However, he was not amused, he felt rather disappointed especially in himself.

Suddenly, Kaine reappeared in the hallway leading out of the throne room. He met Kaine's eyes face to face and still Vance remained silent. It wasn't long before the others noticed Kaine as well. He heard Kiera say, "could Kaine perhaps found our solution?" But he only shook his head, his mind filled with turmoil. He rose to his feet and gave one last look to everyone in the room, his face blank, his brows furrowed indicating he was deep in thought.

"If you would not mind, please excuse me Elei'mei." He spoke then strided past the faction and Kaine and exited the room.

Vance found himself in his room. He was staring out the window examining the vast lands of Lado. He heaved a sigh trying to sort a plan together.

"The Lands of Despair indeed," he spoke aloud.

He shook his head again then rushed his hand through his hair shutting his eyes. When he glanced back out the window again, he could not help but notice the air.

"The air is more grim and vivid than usual," he muttered. "How much time do we have left, Gwydion? There's only so much I can do without guidance, I don't even know where to start."

His faction was strong, but in the eyes of an outsider, they were merely weak and ignorant. They were missing something. They reached the end of the aging years of immortals and yet they hardly knew much of themselves. There must be something more. Something he has not provided all this time But, what? If it weren't for his own irrationality, the planet would of never fell in this state. He wouldn't have saved his comrades and they wouldn't have helped him annihilate the human race. It was his fault they were all in trouble. In the end, they were each ultimately the cost of their own lives.
