Rae Mildon

The man decided to not speak, before placing up a sign that dashed all of her hopes. Dangerous candy and dangerous candy only. She frowned when she realized that there was nothing else in the stall that she might have the desire to buy - her best bet for numbing the pain from exploding chocolate were those numbskulls. Rae picked up the wrapped package, turning it over and over in her hands as she internally debated whether or not she would be purchasing them.

For only three dollars, it wasn’t that bad of a deal. They were also quite the interesting candy, in fact, the only detrimental detail that she could think of was the fact that they were a little too interesting... Thinking it over again, she counted the pros and cons, before deciding that perhaps purchasing them would most likely be useful.

Rae had just gotten out her wallet when her doubts started to surface. Maybe it was actually a horrible idea... they were a dangerous type of candy, and who knew if they wouldn’t cause her more trouble in the future. What if she ate one and then fell into the ocean, drowning in the process?

Shaking her head, she tried to expel those thoughts from her head. Rae looked into the man’s eyes for further confirmation of her previous decision before quietly and quickly mumbling a few words. “I guess that I’ll take one pack of these numbskulls then...” She opened her almost-empty wallet, flipping through the pockets to pull out a five dollar bill. She pursed her lips, before looking through it again - she had to have some sort of change somewhere...

But to no avail. Without a choice in the matter, she handed the man the bill with the assumption that she would get change. But still, the matter of the near-empty wallet rested heavily on her conscience. Rae hadn’t realized that she had spent more money that she had believed, and with the way that things were coming along, she would barely have enough money to sustain a comfortable life for the rest of her visit. With a heavy sigh, she looked for something that she could entertain herself with - hopefully without giving her the extreme urge to spend even more of her measly dollars.

With that in mind, she looked around, her eyes caught on the dream of her life. The man in front of the stall looked remarkably familiar, although Rae was unable to place him exactly in her mind. Perhaps he was someone that she had caught a glimpse of in her previous visits of the island or something... but that wasn’t the most important thing that she noticed. What truly caught her attention were the contents of that divine stall behind him.

A stall filled with furniture of all different types - chairs, tables, and everything that you could think of. While it was larger than the average stall, the objects were too heavy to carry and too expensive for her limited budget anyways. But the chairs called out to her with their promises of rest and comfort. She picked up her previous purchases with a murmured complaint under her breath - they really were too heavy. Making a beeline towards one of the closest chairs, as it looked quite comfortable, she glanced around surreptitiously, hoping that no one would take offense. Settling herself down with a content sigh, Rae cradled her purchases on her lap, before closing her eyes and enjoying the feeling of being off her feet for once.

After a brief rest, she would continue walking around the marketplace. Maybe there would be a performance or something that would keep her attention for a longer period of time, but require the least amount of money. Rae’s hand thumbed through the bills in her wallet, noticing that she had a little more than 60 dollars left in her possession. That would be just enough for a few, less expensive meals - if she could manage to hold off on her spending.
