At first, Amariah was hesitant about riding on the giant reptiles. She grit her teeth, watching the mercenary who had approached to help her, and climbed into the saddle as he instructed. The beast shuffled beneath her, making her heart clench as she gripped the reins and held onto them tightly. She tried to keep her legs relaxed, nervous about startling the animal into action she wasn't prepared for.
How could she act like a cowboy when she could hardly get her bearings now? She was determined to follow Sidney no matter what. It seemed like the safest way to go, for now.
Her lizard looked back at her, its long tongue lapping out at its eyeball. Amariah grimaced.
"Don't eat me." she muttered.
