Glowing embers streaked towards the earth below in a fountain of productivity as the automated assembly armatures in the scaffolding above completed the detail welding of the intricately designed product. Whirring and sliding about with nanoscale precision, these robotic assembly arms were absolutely essential to the reliable construction of this revelatory prototype, which in a matter of months was to begin mass production. The upcoming field trials would be a grueling test of this incredible architecture, and a hopeful redemption from the previous unfortunate accidents that caused such heartache for the enterprise.

This time, through the advisement of the galaxy's greatest neuropsionics and arcane scholars, the risks of this endeavor would be far more easily mitigated.

The overwhelming specifications called for an incredible 42 vernier thrusters; 24 primary navigational, 8 auxiliary thrust, and 10 apogee drives. This indicated an incredibly agile suit in both terrestrial and atmospheric situations, and completely unparalleled in its target environment: zero-gravity combat.

The blonde-haired and brash leader of this project had insisted on upping the Minovsky-type ultracompact fusion reactor's output to over 62 MW so these systems could be used over sustained periods of time, so that the war-winning tactics he'd used to such great effect would be carried forth unto this new generation of mobile suit.

The true innovation of this suit was not in the numbers, or the specifications—but the technology itself. The previous generation of mobile suits utilized artificial intelligence to anticipate the pilot's actions and augment them using preemptive movements, and they learned over time how the pilot interacted with the suit and thus the effectiveness in combat of a pilot increased over time as a greater capacity of the suits' abilities were realized. This suit was something not entirely different, but certainly an order of magnitude more effective at maximizing both the pilot and the suit's potential.

At least, that remained to be seen. Twenty-two years prior, the project had been shelved after the first attempt at this hybrid technology ended in horror—but now, after the very same twenty-two years of scientific advancement and grueling political and technological battles—the prototypes were moving forward with field trials, which were proving to be deadly still, but increasingly less so.

The designation, emblazoned in blocked white text on the left shoulder plate of the mobile suit, struck an ominous tone.

The decades-old project was finally being seen through to fruition under the veil of obscurity.
