She pulled a book out of her pack and consulted it, then pulled a pouch out and sprinkled some bitter-smelling dust on the grass, which caused it to release Severin and shrink away. Una could have sworn she heard it shriek. "You should move before it regains consciousness," she said nonchalantly, putting her books and Matron statuette back into the pack. Then she started dropping bits of salted deer meat into the cook pot; they sizzled as they fried.
