Taro had inched slowly closer to the door and pressed his ear against it at first he could hear nothing then a voice he didn't recognize made his jump.

"If there is anyone else in the rooms please come and join us in the kitchen!" the mysterious voice called. Taro felt like he was being addressed specifically his tail shot up in surprise and he covered his mouth so as to not make a sound. But he knew, the strange man probably already knew of his presence behind the door. Reluctantly he reached his hand up and turned the knob, pushing the door open only slightly before sticking his head out to see into the hallway.

After a moment of observation he mangaged to push himself to his feet and slip into the hallway. Curiosity was just that hard to ignore.
