There was silence for a few moments Baby spoke. “What makes you think I want anyone around." Baby held Caden's eyes. “I don’t need anyone. Not my brother. Not Jack and definitely not you.” She took a step forward challenging him. “Besides, you’re going to be just as alone as me. You’re worthless Caden.” She used his real name “Just like me.” Almost suddenly, someone yelled for the young woman before him. Baby leaned in close to him..closer than he would have normally allowed her. And then..she kissed his cheek, her lips lingering. “You and I aren’t that different babe. Stop trying to act like your so much better than me.” Finally, she stepped away from him, and then walked away to her car.
Caden wasn't sure whether he wanted to be angry with her..or to want her. She infuriated him to no end but Caden wasn't blind. She was so very alluring. He turned around and leaned against the wall that Ronnie had just been against. He would remain there until she returned. He crossed his arms, narrowing his eyes. He just wanted to go home. It wasn't long that the race started. As he was alone, Caden couldn't help but think over Ronnie's words. Perhaps they really weren't all that different. Either way, he still didn't like her. She knew just how to put him on edge.
He was going to have a long talk with Jay the next time he got him by himself. He didn't want the other man to think that he was willing to go with Baby whenever they wanted. He was afraid that he would do something that he would regret later on. He sighed heavily, turning his gaze out to where all the cars were. He couldn't stand them..not really. They were loud..at least the ones that were raced. He just couldn't see the appeal. Suddenly, Caden's train of thought was interrupted as the sound of cars got louder and then disappeared. Now all he had to do was wait for Baby to return.
As he remained against the wall, he looked about at all the different people there. He thought that at some point he saw Sarah but he lost her. He was sure that if she wanted to see him that she would find him at some point..or she'd just call him later. Even though they weren't dating..he was rather fond of the girl. He shared a bed with her often. And then his mind drifted to Baby. Why couldn't she just listen to what she was told? He shook his head. He couldn't understand her..and he honestly didn't want to. He couldn't let her get in the last word, however. When she got back..he would have a few choice words for her..words that she would most likely not like.
