With the slap to his foot and the intense glare that Killens was giving off the atmosphere had shifted. Robbie was expecting a lackluster conversation solely fueled on the curiosity and a simple request but what he walked into was hidden rage and the need to think about what he was about to ask with caution. Robbie clenched his jaw and looked around, he hadn’t felt so nervous in such a short amount of time in years. It was a feeling he could never overcome no matter the circumstance.
“Well, it’s more of a favor. . . Not to you but of me. Braden was curious. . . about something. Someone.” It was like he was back in grade school. Stumbling over his words and saying incoherent statements that would make anyone annoyed. “This is going to sound crazy but do you know anything . . . bout Brooklyn . . . her past specifically. . . about her parents?” he drifted.
He took a step back feeling extraordinarily uncomfortable along with the feeling that he was about to get decked in the face wasn’t helping any. “I only ask because you and Nick, obviously, knew each other the longest and Braden heard that she may have,” If there was ever a perfect time to get punched in the face it would be now “that she killed them.”
It was out now. He made sure to look back around the warehouse one more time making sure no one else was actually around and he had just not noticed, actually all he was looking for was Brooklyn. Robbie wasn’t someone that had any type of good luck and what he was asking seemed like it weighed heavy on him. The worst that would happen would be that he asked a stupid question. No harm in being curious but then again, curiosity killed the cat.
