The brother had reported two dozen, and therefore Anna presumed there would be three dozen when they arrived. Perhaps not the best of odd, even with a posse. Or rather not the best odds for someone without the Lord's blessing. The fact that the fort's walls were already damaged and vulnerable was as clear a sign as Anna had ever seen. Now all they had to do was act and fulfill His wishes.

Anna drew in a slow breath, careful to temper her excitement. "We'll ride out at dusk and dismount a mile or two from the fort. The posse will remain there and wait for a signal while myself and Horatio approach on foot. If we sneak in near hour before dawn, they'll be at their most vulnerable. We'll dispatch any sentries, open the fort gates, and light a fire to signal the posse to ride in.

She nodded over to the doctor, her stoic expression briefly faltering into a fierce grin in return. "I appreciate your enthusiasm for the Lord's justice, but I need you to mind a wagon with food, water, medical supplies, so you can treat anyone who needs immediate attention, especially the children. And while the children are being transported back here, you will need to defend them if any of these murderers not at the fort when we attack."

Pausing, Anna looked over to Horatio. Admittedly, one could say she was speaking out of turn, given her youth. But she trusted that she and Horatio were thinking similarly. Regardless, it was at least proper to defer to the Pack's leader. "Do you think there anything else to consider, Horatio?"
