Eden and Astra had gathered their belongings as well from a nearby bench. Astra hadn't exactly questioned Eden why she had decided to also invite Josette over, and she truly didn't intend to. After being Eden's friend for so long, she had understood that it was much easier for the both of them if she just went along. Whether that was actually helping Eden and her unhealthy habits was a whole different thing, and the answer to that would most likely be no. When Eden's backpack was finally slung over her shoulder and Astra's handbag being held in her hands, they waited for Jo to be ready before they finally left for Astra's house.

Jo glanced at the two girls with an impatient yet excited expression, still bouncing back and forth on the heels and balls of her feet. Once it seemed as if they had gotten all of their belongings together, Jo smiled at them. "Alright, I'm ready to go. Lead the way!" She hummed cheerfully.

A small smirk grew on Eden's face. "Then let's go." Astra had started heading towards the car before she had been stopped by Eden. "And I'm driving this time. I don't exactly feel like haven't a heart attack today and your horrid driving will guarantee that I'll have several." Astra still grumbled in disapproval, but still allowed Eden to get in the drivers seat while she instead sat in the front passenger's seat, Josette sitting in the back. All it took was the simple turn of a key to ignite the engine, and then they were off.

        â–Ŧ Time Skip â–Ŧ

They pulled into the driveway of Astra's house about ten minutes after they had left the school. It wasn't anything that would be considered extravagant, but it was still nice going by most standards, being a two story, contemporary style house. Astra had quickly jumped out of the car, already having unlocked the front door and was inside the house as Eden followed behind her, leaving the door open for Jo.

Jo clambered out of the car in an attempt to follow the other girls, who entered the house so quickly. When she got inside, she placed her bags down and took her shoes off near the entrance; a habit that Jo marks off as common courtesy. The first thing that welcomed them was an open living room, the kitchen being on the other side of a half wall separating the two. Eden welcome herself to relax on the couch, resting her feet up on the coffee table in the middle of the living room. Astra had been getting drinks for Eden and her before she had glanced at Josette. "Would you like anything to drink?" she asked Josette from the kitchen.

"U-umm... Got any juice? Anything sweet, really. I need some sugar in me." Jo let out a nervous chuckle before mentally glaring at herself. 'Why am I feeling so... nervous?' While Astra got Jo her drink, she walked off and found Eden sitting on the couch. Well, more lounging on the couch. A tab bit awkwardly, Jo sat down as well, staring at her feet.

Astra gave a slight nod in acknowledgment to Josette's answer as she got her a drink too. Eden eyed Josette as she also sat down before she decided to sit up fully on the couch. "So if you don't mind me asking, why did you end up transferring to Monarch during your senior year of high school?" Eden asked Jo. She wasn't planning on asking as many questions as Astra did, but there was no denying that it was kinda odd to transfer when it was your very last year of high school. Eden ran a slow hand through her hair as she waited for Josette's answer.

For the first few moments, the silence between Jo and Eden was filled with awkwardness. When Eden sat up more formally, Jo tensed up slightly. For some reason, she was rather on edge. "Oh... Um, it's kind of... a long and depressing tale... I'll spare you the time and tears..." When she saw Eden toying with her hair, Jo's heart practically skipped a beat. The blonde was absolutely gorgeous. Breath-taking, even. "L-let's just say some shit went down in my family and my dad didn't feel like dealing with me... or my gayness." She let out a quiet chuckle, but it was clearly filled with nervousness. "Living in the south is... rough, for a girl who loves girls." She sighed and looked back down at her lap.

"Ah." She uttered with the slight bob of her head, understanding the problems that could arise from such a situation, and decided not to pry any further into it. By then, Astra had gotten all three of their drinks, and handed one to Eden and Josette, setting hers down on the coffee table. "I'll be right back." Astra said before marching up the stairs. Eden glanced at her before saying, "Bring a movie down whenever you come back."

"No!" Astra shouted halfway up the stairs.

        "Why not!?"

"Because all you do during movies is talk!"

Eden grumbled before she went back to lounging on the couch, sipping her drink with a look of disdain on her face. "I don't even talk during movies. I make comments, two very different things." she muttered. She stole a short glance at Josette before she went back to sulking.

When Jo was handed her her drink, she immediately took a few nervous sips. She hoped that the extra sugar would make her at least somewhat less jumpy. And thank goodness Eden had dropped the previous subject; that last thing Jo needed was to think about her father more. "I mean... sometimes other people's commentary can be why a movie is actually bearable. That's how I get through most M. Night Shyamalan films." She chuckled before lying back a bit more, taking another sip. "Especially if the commentary is snarky and clever."[/color] She smiled at Eden.

"That's the exact thing I keep trying to explain that to Astra but she honestly just doesn't get it." There was a short moment of silence before Eden continued talking. "So, random question, but what exactly have you heard about me? I remember you mentioned your friend told you somethings about me, but I don't think you've ever mentioned what exactly those things are."

Jo was almost immediately uncomfortable; she hated gossip and spreading rumors more than almost anything else. She looked down at her hands, which were balled up in her lap. "Well... Just, just stupid, exaggerated lies. That you had done a bunch of bad stuff... Were a total troublemaker... I think she mentioned something about you breaking a bunch of people's hearts? I dunno, just a bunch of bullshit." Jo waved her hand in the air as if she was waving away the lies.

"Well, there's always a little bit of truth in every lie." Eden said with an almost joking tone of voice before she stood up. "I'm gonna go see what's taking Astra so long, I'll be back." However, before she began climbing the staircase she saw a glimpse of white near the front entrance. There was a white envelope that was presumably slid under the door. Picking it up, Eden examined it. No return address, no stamp, not even the name of the person it was addressed to. Just a plain white envelope. She felt a little apprehensive about opening it, but eventually, she tore open the envelope and emptied out its contents before looking at them. "Shit."

Jo sat there and pondered as to what Eden meant. Sure, there was always a kernel of truth in every lie, but how much of it was true? Not to mention, she couldn't figure out which one of the lies would be the worst. Troublemaking was no big deal to her, but... being a heart breaker. Jo sighed and laid back for a moment. "I knew it was too good to be true." She grumbled under her breath. It was then that she heard Eden curse in the room over. Jo couldn't help but get to her feet and walk over; the curiosity was too much. "What's wrong?" She asked, quirking her head to the side.

At the sound of Josette's voice behind her, Eden quickly hid the pictures the envelope contained and tried to mask her anxiety as much as she could before she finally spoke. "Ah, nothing that I need to worry over right now." Shoving the envelope into her back pocket, she went back to her position on the couch, clearly more distressed than previously. Before long, Astra had come back down the stairs.

"I brought a movie since you were complaining about it so much." She said as she took her own seat on the couch. "But I'm not exactly sure if it's any good." Eden only grumbled a thanks in response.

Jo joined Eden back on the couch, but she couldn't help but glance at the blonde nervously. She was rather worried about what was plaguing the girl so much. Astra coming downstairs didn't distract her from this. Jo bit her lip and looked down at her empty juice cup. "Hey, Astra, I hope you don't mind, but can I have some more juice before we start the movie?" As soon as Astra had left, Jo, a bit cautiously, put her hand on Eden's shoulder. "Eden, there's clearly something wrong. What is it?"

She slightly shifted away from the hand that Jo had placed on her shoulder and ran an anxious hand through her hair. "You know how you have.."problems" with your dad? It's kinda like that, but with my younger sister instead." There was a slight pause. "She doesn't have any type of problems with me but with someone else..." Eden let out an irritated sigh, "I'd rather not have to talk about it." Getting up, Eden grabbed the movie that Astra had brought down and slipped it into the DVD Player before she turned on the TV.

Jo's face twisted up with confusion. If the problems were with the younger sister, then why was Eden so stressed out? And what had come in the mail that brought her mood down in the first place? "Well... Hmm." Jo paused, trying to choose her words carefully. "I don't know... if those situations equate. My dad dislikes me being gay, but this seems... different." She stopped again, looking down. "I don't know for sure, of course, because I know you're not telling me everything." She grumbled the last part a bit more quietly, but her voice was still audible. She raised her gaze back up and let it rest on Eden, her eyes full of both curiosity and concern.

"Well, maybe I don't feel like telling you everything." The statement had come out as harsh, a lot harsher than she had intended, but she had said it none the less. Astra had returned with Jo's drink, and sensing the tension that was in the room, had quietly set it down and had sat down the couch, not saying a single word.

The ice in Eden's words stung sharply, causing Jo to shift in her seat as if an actual chill had washed over her. She looked back down at her feet, which had started to twitch and move slightly in response to the awkwardness of the situation. "I-I'm.. sorry. I was just, you know, worried. I suppose I shouldn't have the... privilege of knowing this personal stuff... I only just met you and all..." Jo's soft, defeated tone of voice displayed her yielding, and her line of sight never raised from the ground.

By then Astra had already started the movie, an attempt at trying to defuse the awkwardness and hostility of the situation. Eden felt a slight tinge of regret behind her words, the statement coming out as crude and generally apathetic. Yet she made no effort to apologize for her words. Despite the questions being reasonable, Jo's "prying" had only furthered Eden's agitation, and now she only seemed turned off to conversation entirely. This was probably one of the most awkward moments Jo had every experienced, which is really saying something considering she had come out, face to face, to both of her conservative parents. It was so awkward, Jo didn't even want to look up from the ground to watch the movie.

After a few minutes, when Jo thought she would die of a mixture of discomfort and embarrassment, Astra jabbed her side. This made her jump slightly, but before she could question the other girl, she gestured to another room, wanting Jo to follow. She glanced back at Eden before she stood; she knew the blonde would notice their sudden departure, but Jo needed answers. With a quiet sigh, she got up and followed Astra into the other room.

"Sooo...I would first like to apologize on Eden's behalf. I'm sure that she hadn't fully meant what she said, well, not in the way that it obviously came out as." Astra had glanced back at Eden for a second before continuing. "Mind telling me why she had even said that in the first place? What happened between you two while I was gone?"

Jo felt immediately uncomfortable, her gaze lowering to the ground. A part of her didn't want to tell Astra what had happened to Eden. If she had gotten so upset about telling Jo, then why would she want other people to know? Jo bit her bottom lip nervously. This was Astra, Eden's best friend... "Well... She got this... weird package, envelope type thing, and when I tried to ask her about it, she got all mad and wouldn't tell me what it is." She shrugged. "I mean, I just met her, and I was kinda snooping so..."

"Honestly, I'm surprised she wasn't angrier." Astra was silent while she mulled it over. "It'd probably be best not to tell you...not before I talk to Eden about it anyways. Don't dwell on it too much, she wasn't mad at you specifically or at the very least she shouldn't be mad at you."

For a split second, Jo's mood brightened somewhat. "Oh! Well, that's good." It wasn't until after saying that she realized it really wasn't good. "I mean... Not really, though. Good she's not mad at me, not good that she got so upset over whatever was in the envelope..." Her curiosity was running wild as to try to come up with an explanation as to the contents of the mail. Perhaps one of Eden's past lovers was blackmailing her? Maybe she just gets really mad about junk mail? Jo nibbled on her bottom lip. "So.. do you know what was in the package?"

"I don't know precisely what was in the package, but I have a pretty close guess on what it could've been, and I really wish I didn't. She's been getting them for almost a year? Maybe longer? Though we still don't know who's sending them, or why for that matter. Of course, we have theories on who could be sending them, but we still don't know enough to confirm any of them, so we're pretty much clueless."

Jo bit down on her bottom lip, "It's like the plot of some sort of horrifying mystery drama." Her voice was low before she let out a frustrated sigh. "So... What now? I want to help, but..." She glanced over her shoulder, trying to imagine how Eden might have been feeling. "I only just met you guys... Uhm.. Have you gone to the police? I'm sure they'd at least try to help..."

"Going to the police was one of our first thoughts, but there were "things" in place that were stopping us. Even if there weren't, if we went to the police now Eden would probably be putting herself in more trouble. At least for now, that option out of the question." She looked briefly at Eden before continuing, and she was clearly becoming more restless by the second. "For now, let's just drop it okay? I want a chance to talk to Eden before telling you anything else."

She couldn't help but sigh and nod in agreement. "Yeah, that's probably for the best... But if you're willing, give me as much info as you can, when you can. I want to... Investigate more into this, y'know?" Jo looked at her, her eyes full of the innocent need to help her friends. "For now, we might as well just enjoy this movie."And Jo put on the best, weak smile she could muster.

Astra gave a small nod, one that was full of unease and concern but nevertheless returned to the seat she had before on the couch, making a joke towards Eden, one that Eden tried very hard not to chuckle at. At the time being, it seemed as though the tense air that the room held had dissipated.
