Kate had a score to settle and when Kate had a score to settle nothing else seemed to matter. Earlier that night, she’d come to Alice with a grin and successfully secured herself a ride for the night. Alice was the perfect companion for getting up to no good and Kate was ready to get up to no good. After today, no doubt by tomorrow one of their social workers would be on their doorstep shuffling them off to another place and another school. So really it didn’t matter what kind of trouble Kate got up to tonight. Even if Alice didn’t quite agree on that point.

Kate threw open the red door and let the drunken odor and clouds of smoke envelope her like a well-known friend. The first thing her eyes landed on was a lanky redhead doing a keg stand and all the walking testosterone boys standing around him chanting out, “Malcolm! Malcolm! Malcolm!” Sighing Kate moved to the left away from the circle of idiocy. She had a target and she couldn’t get distracted. Though she did pick up an incriminating red cup, downing the amber liquid with determination.

“Out of my way.” She hissed at a guy whose drunken stumbling didn’t let him get out of the way in time. She followed up her verbal warning by grabbing him by the scruff of his neck and shoving him out of the way. Kate did a quick scan of what appeared to be some sort of TV room. No sign of the brute known as Brianna. Then Kate went for the stairwell.

Whenever Kate and Alice moved schools, Kate never really took too long to find herself a nemesis of sorts. Kate just didn’t take well to people thinking they were better than her, and her years apart from Alice in group homes taught her that they best way to let someone they pissed you off was with your fists. Brianna thought she ruled the school because no one ever stood up to her, but Kate just couldn’t let things lie. A snarky insult here, a rougher than necessary bump there. At lunch that day things kind of exploded between them when Brianna tipped her lunch on Kate. Unfortunately, Brianna had chosen to have juice, noodles and chips for lunch. So then Kate, not one to let anything blow over, reacted as her case worker often liked to say, ‘in an unhelpful manner.’

After the fight between Kate and Brianna got split up, surprisingly by the history teacher who was known for his nervous stutter and tweed jackets, they were separated and sent home. Now Kate was out for blood though, she wanted to give Brianna a black eye, to match the one Brianna had given her. Kate had caught sight of herself in a mirror earlier and the eye was already multiple shades of purple and blue. Kate knew a bit about black eyes and this one was going to be a real nasty one.

Once Kate got upstairs she started opening doors without any care who might be on the other side in various states of undress. “Brianna.” She called throwing open a door to find an affectionate couple who were unfortunately above the covers. One of the boys looked up with a scowl, squinting at the light being let in by the door. Kate just rolled her eyes and sent him a ‘deal with it’ look before closing the door and trying the next door with a familiar call of, “Brianna.”

Kate gritted her teeth in annoyance. Brianna wasn’t upstairs. Deciding Alice must be here by now, she patted down her pockets. Though when her hand came up empty Kate realized with some annoyance that her phone must have fallen out in Alice's car. She could imagine it now in the crack between the chair and door lighting up with some text from her phone provider. "Brianna!" Kate called out again towards a hoard of smelly teenagers at the end of the hall who all turned around with blank faces. They didn't know where she was.

Kate walked out to the landing, where she spotted Alice. Years of always watching Alice's back as she followed her on adventures made Kate kind of an Alice spotting champion. So it was no surprise that she managed to spot her twin immediately. With a grin Kate called out "Alice!" Though Alice didn't notice. Leaning over the railing a bit more she called again, "Lice, up here!"

Kate was immediately distracted though when a girl with purple hair and a bottle in hand approached. "Hey Kaaaaate, I hear you're looking for Brianna-nana." No doubt whatever she had been drinking in her bottle was what was causing her to slur. Kate recognized the purple hair from her English class. The girl always shared morbid poems that always seemed a little bit too try-hard goth. Didn't she hear the goth trend was over? "Yeah, you know where she is?" The girl shrugged with a coy smile, "Out back having a smoke." Kate thanked her and made to find the outdoors. Though she didn't notice the purple haired girl whispering to a few friends and then all of them following Kate, excited for the girl fight Kate was planning on starting.

Wandering outside with purpose, Kate made a point of not coughing when the stench of cigarettes hit her nose, though she itched too."Oi Brianna," Kate called with a grin and a hand on her hip. The group huddled around a green drain pipe all turned around and stepped aside revealing Brianna with a cocked eyebrow. Had she always been to tall and big? Then Kate without saying a word stepped forward and smashed her fist into Brianna's face. She hard a few cheers of 'Girl Fight!' and a few people calling out their names as the two girls went at it.
