Then the whistling roar hit as projected force moved the luminescent dragon of hard metal below the blackened sky still well beyond the speed of sound. Zhou banked hard dodging the largest of the molten projectiles riding out the shockwave with a atonal dirge as it passed through his body hauling the metal dragon slowly backward. Now subssonic with the speed blown out of him it took a minute for him to recover as Zhou careened through the air gathering molten adamantium on his form from splattered volcanic projectiles. They drained from thermally resistant charged ferroplasm as helical thrust spires floating where wingflesh would be roared back to life. Projector wings drained the metal away in a hot spray as his wings spread in an angry whistle to arrest his downward motion toward the ground just outside of town. with one twist feet-down a buffet of wind the angular spires on his wings pushed down with heavy metal legs ready to pound into the earth.

Zhou's airy legs might as well be huge angular chainsaws that reduced a set of seared pine trees to kindling as he rammed at speed legs first through the forest canopy. Buried to his knees in solid stone Zhou shook his head and their two blue lantern-eyes to look about. He'd landed leeward from the town's oncoming pyroclasm. Good.
