No matter how unbearable it was to deal with Life and Bennie, at least Alfonso could always count on Ludovica for support. He took a step towards her, reaching down to scratch at Shoe's chin. Shoe swerved away from his hand, leaning into Ludovica's touch. If she had been trapped in a cat instead of a wolf, Alfonso was sure she would be purring.
Bennie hummed behind him, and Alfonso avoided looking at her. She'd probably just annoy him in the end.
"I'm glad you came," Alfonso murmured.
"Gross," Bennie called.
Alfonso glared at her. "To visit, Bennie.
"Hey, you should have been more clear. Not my fault you like to get around." Bennie winked to Life, and Alfonso again had to convince himself not to tackle her.
"As you can see, my company here is less than ideal."
Shoe growled at him.
"Aside from you, of course, my pet."
Shoe seemed satisfied. She returned to nuzzling her muzzle into Ludovica's side.
"Oh right. You have never met Life before have you? This is...er, her, I suppose." Alfonso gestured to Life in her tree. Bennie, suddenly alert, moved as if to somehow block Life from Ludovica's sight.
