The sun was out and brighter than ever, in complete contrast to Cecily's mood. She walked through the large garden off the side of the castle. It had an ethereal beauty to it and it comforted her in this stressful time. Each flower seemed to reach out to her, extending their stalks. Her personal favorite's were the glass roses. They were simple and elegant, and clear like glass or ice. She had heard that in other parts of the country, nature was more exotic. Many times she had wished that she would be able to leave Silanos, but as princess, she was not allowed to do this.
The tail of her dress drug across the ground as she moved. Today she wore one of her more simple gowns. It was olive green along the sleeves and main part of the dress. Along the front of the bodice the color was a dark red and stitching patterns were woven across it. The top half of the dress was slim, but when it reached her waistline it bloomed out slightly. Her hair was left in it's naturally curly state. The only change was that a braid surrounded the crown of her head, pulling up her hair slightly, but not much at all.
Looking out into the stretch of the land, Cecily frowned. Her dark brown orbs holding a hint of sadness to them. This controversy between kingdoms was going too far, and she knew that war would be the outcome if something wasn’t done to stop it. It was frustrating to her that she couldn’t do anything about it even though she was the princess. Her father could, but he was too busy cowering in fear to take a stand. She didn’t know if she would ever be able to forgive him for abandoning his kingdom during this time of need. Of course, she had never been on great terms with her father to begin with. They always had differing opinions and he wouldn’t let Cely do hardly anything, which is why she has now has no power over the kingdom. She is treated like royalty by all the servants and guards, but they will not take any direct orders from her like they do her father. During normal times, this would not bother her, but now that her father has basically left his duty as king, she has been left to deal with the situation with no way to change anything.
Cecily noticed that the sun was beginning to set, she had been lost in her thoughts for hours without even realizing it. Sighing to herself, she entered the confines of the castle. Guards were littered everywhere, blocking all entrances. The cause for the increase in security had to do with her father's paranoia. Instead of using the men for more useful tasks, he thought it better to protect himself. It was almost laughable how much a of a coward her father was. People had often told her that she looked and acted just like her mother did. Passionate and free spirited with a fiery temper to top it off. Cely only wished that she could have known her. As a motherless child with no siblings, her life often felt lonely.
She crossed through the grand hall to the large staircase. The guards moved to let her pass and then she headed to her quarters. Nowadays she never had much of an appetite, so she decided that she would take a bath and head to bed early without dinner. After fetching her maids, they rushed to prepare her bath and help her undress. She was quickly washed and settled into her nightdress. A formfitting, but flowy gown that was light pink in color. After dismissing her maids, she braided her hair to the side and laid down on her bed. Her stressful thoughts had exhausted her, and before she knew it she had already fallen asleep.
