╚ THE QUEEN BEE ╝

Outfit: Here
Location: En route to The Arnault Residence
Dialogue Color: #209DC7
Sydney didn't mind Camilo coming inside with her, but that was mostly because she didn't plan on actually spending much time inside with him. She would leave him in a common area space, and talk to Adeline in private. That was the plan, at least, but as a familiar looking member of the Arnault house staff, whose name Sydney couldn't place, let them in and informed her that Adeline was in the kitchen, the plans changed a bit. Or they would, even if Sydney didn't realize it yet. "I need to speak to Adeline. Someone left her manners, and apparently, her brain, in California, and being the good friend that I am, I'm going to make sure we fix that right now," she explained curtly, prolonging the lie that Adeline had spent the summer in California with her mother, despite now knowing that it wasn't true. Even if she had every intention of blasting Adeline for not being truthful with her, she didn't think that Camilo had any reason to know the truth. Despite feeling selfishly entitled and offended by all of this, Sydney was still capable of recognizing that an eating disorder was a sensitive topic, and something that Adeline clearly and understandably didn't want the world knowing about. Milo was probably the sweetest guy that Sydney knew, but it wasn't about him. It was about Adeline... or at least it was supposed to be about Adeline, since it was hard for Sydney to feel like this wasn't also about herself, now that Adeline apparently thought that she was only as important as Esme and Olivia, and that such a bland and generic text was an acceptable first form of communication after dropping off the face of the planet for months.

Despite knowing that Adeline had a twin sister and a stepsister, she expected the girl to be alone in the kitchen. Not seated at the same island as Charlotte, Naya, and Alaina. Given the circumstances of all of this, it was even more surprising to see her with a plate of food in front of her, and call it cold, but Sydney made sure that her eyes were trained on that food for longer than necessary as soon as she was close enough to the four girls and the cook standing a few feet away. She hadn't even noticed that the member of the house staff that had let her in had followed closely behind her and Camilo, struggling to keep up with Sydney's purposely fast pace, until the woman caught up with them in the kitchen and spoke. "Miss Arnault, guests are here for you." It was probably the greeting that was needed for Sydney and Camilo's presence to be noticed, and although she glanced back at the woman with an annoyed expression, as if she didn't need anyone other than herself to announce her presence, she was secretly grateful for it, because she didn't know what to say in that immediate moment.

While part of her was overjoyed to finally see her best friend after months of wondering if she was okay, she didn't show that. Her face remained fairly emotionless, her lips turning up only slightly into a cold smile that was only present because Adeline wasn't alone. Yes, it was great that Adeline looked fairly healthy, and that she was even alive, and mostly, that she was apparently eating, but again, it was important to remember that despite being a good friend at heart, Sydney was a conceited person in the sense that she was the most important person in her world. Adeline had been through hell and back this summer, but Sydney couldn't focus on that when she felt like she had been disrespected. "Since we have so much catching up to do, it only seemed appropriate to stop by early," she stated, addressing Adeline in a manner that definitely seemed cold considering that they were best friends who hadn't seen each other for so long. "I can only imagine that you have some exciting stories to share about the witness protection program that your sister told me you were placed in. Are we going to walk and talk, or should I take a seat?" she said, walking towards the empty chair that separated Charlotte and Adeline, and raising her eyebrows in a nearly challenging motion as she studied Adeline's expression. She purposely ignored the three girls beside her, though it was clear that she was willing to use their presences as a leverage tool, because she was sure that Adeline wasn't going to want to do this "catching up" in front of them, and Sydney didn't want to either.
