The uneasy feeling in Lyra's stomach suddenly came again, her back also ached, her wings needed to come out. Lyra stepped into the forest while Atreyu's attention was on the great god of the air. She walked off for a good 5 miles, until even her good hearing couldn't hear her little family. She rested her hand on a nearby tree as she started to vomit silver blood, Lyra cried silently until her eyes were red and burning. Her immune system was failing and she didn't know how to get this human weapon out of her body.
The main reason she had left without a word was because when it was time to let her wings out or back in she couldn't stand to do it in front of people. She couldn't take the look on their faces while they watched something so horrifying, and there was nothing they could do to help her. It all came naturally to her, the price she paid for being born. Lyra hugged the tree continuing to cry as her bones started to crack and break within her body. Her cries out were quiet, something she had trained herself to do when it was time for her to morph into something else. Bones ripped through the muscle and the skin in between her shoulder blades. They slowly started to grow, unfolding themselves into long wings that stretched out three times her arm length.
While Lyra was off, taking a moment to herself Horus stepped in front of Atreyu as he held the human's shoulder. He blocked Atreyu from going after Lyra with no doubt that he was either worried or had used his new gift to see where and what Lyra was doing. Horus had done the same thing in search for where Lyra had disappeared too. "There are some things that you will find need to be done in private." He told Atreyu.
"Lyra may have wanted to take your ultimatum for receiving this gift. It is supposed to be strictly your burden to carry, I believe that the two of you will need each other to survive on any planet. I am giving you and Lyra a linking curse, you will be able to see,feel,hear,sense and communicate to each other. You will experience everything they are going through. You both will have the unlikely fate to be able to sense each others emotions, needs and even thoughts one day." The god of the air told Atreyu. There is no limits to this curse, it will improve for better as the time between you increases. I will leave you in charge of relying the message to Lady Lyrica as well." With that Horus flew straight up into the sky, disappearing into the clouds
Lyra pushed herself up as they started to grow skin and eventually ivory feathers that were so soft water rolled off them. Lyra wiped her mouth as her ivory feathered wings curled up making it easier to walk around in the forest without hitting her wings on every other tree branch or tree stump. As Lyra walked back she had a weird feeling in her chest, like something was pulling her in one direction. She couldn't make out what it was, shaking the feeling from her mind she continued to walk back to Atreyu and Freya.
A memory popped up in her head, of first getting Freya. She went in for a yearly examination on her birthday and the doctor had told her that she could receive a free 'spawn'. Not knowing much about what a spawn was she accepted in the doctors using her DNA to create a spawn. She remembers the doctor bringing in a new born baby in the next two hours of her doctor's appointment. She couldn't believe it worked that way, there was another way if someone didn't have a companion to make children with.
As Lyra got closer to Atreyu and Freya she suddenly felt like she couldn't wait to see Atreyu again, almost like the happy feeling wasn't coming from her. She ignored it as she came into the circle of the campsite. Atreyu and Freya were the only two there. She looked panicked, that meant Horus already have the ultimatum to Atreyu."I apologize for suddenly disappearing. I needed a moment to myself."
