She had to save Fina. In the entire world Io only really had one friend. Sure, Metis was her brother but he let her become an android. Yes she had Dane but in the end he made friends with Fina too. And Minnie probably just saw her as pitiful more than anything. In the end, in this entire world, Fina was the only one who accepted her. Io wasn't going to let that go away. "How do I interface with Hymnos?" Io asked grimly at the Doctor she so hated, at the android who was so unfortunate. "It's easy. I just have to hook you up to her core." Dr. Grover held up the necessary wires. "You'll go unconscious again of course, but someone with your perseverance should be fine and retain your sense of self." Fina would be assimilated but because Fina was born from her it wasn't impossible to draw out remnants of Fina from Hymnos's mass of data.
"Hello human." Hymnos looked at her with a tilt of the head. "So many of my children are dying. Do you know why?" Hymnos was wringing her hands in distress, unaware of her own virus infection. "All android personalities are born from her. Fina, Jace, even Lita come from her." Dr. Grover explained as she stabbed the wire into Io's spine, the useless twin wincing from the pain but she bit her lip to hold it in. "Random aspects as well as chosen aspects of the source human's personality are processed through Hymnos, which becomes a Core with it's own mind and consciousness. That core is then placed into an android body and a new mind is born." Grover spoke as if she had the grandeur of creating even life itself. "I don't care about the science whatzit." Io growled threateningly. "Just hook me up so I can bring Fina back."
Hymnos looked at her and then teared up. "I want to make my children happy, do you know how I can make them happy?" She looked like a lost child who was given a task but did not know how to make that task come true. "You're not yourself. You're sick, Hymnos." Io hissed, shaking her head. "Well at least Jace will die because Fina's gone. That's a cold comfort at least." Hymnos began to cry again. "Poor sad Jace, she's so unfortunate! But she won't remember her brother, I won't let her!" Hymnos shivered as if ill. "Remembering that would make her sad!"
...
"Are there any memories of mine... that you've taken away?"

The moon was shining, it was dark outside. No one had followed her, Minnie was truly alone. She knew Jarvis was busy with Black Jack and Jace right now so it was easy to slip away from the Flock. Was it smart? For her, it probably wasn't, she was already exhausted and knew it was going to just get worse. But for the sake of her friends, this was the only way to save them. "I'm here, villain." Minnie held out her hand once she saw the hooded figure. Yes he was imposing but she didn't care. "I'll join the game as Jace's partner." The hooded figure smiled menacingly at her in the abandoned subway station - hardly anyone operated here this late at night. "Good choice, little miss. It's not too late for Fina and for Callisto. If you do what I say, they can be saved."
Minnie had already made her choice. So when he gave her the injection, she did not hesitate in the slightest. Yes, the idea of fighting back did come to mind. But in the end she knew that was a stupid idea. A sick girl like her could not hope to overpower a full grown man, even if she had a weapon to bring to help. So she injected herself right into the big vein in her right arm, the blue line pierced by the needle. Near instantly pain overcame her and Minnie buckled over, clutching at her stomach, her head was pounding even worse than before. "Now you're poisoned too." The enemy said with a chuckle. "Foolish girl, you really think you can do tasks meant for Jace?"
The silver angel smiled weakly and shook her head. "Please don't misunderstand. It's not me who can do that. It's Jace. I'm just making sure she has... a partner to proceed in this sick game of yours."
Like this, Minnie knew for sure she would never get to perform again. But it was okay. She would pass her will to the next generation - Callisto would inherit her love for song and dance. "Cali will be a star for me..." Minnie whispered to herself, her quiet voice a small comfort as the new disease wracked her body.
