Here in cyberspace, Io got a first person view as the virus ate away more and more at Hymnos. She wasn't sure what she could do to fight it and she had a feeling that even if she were to try, it would just end up eating away at her instead. "I'm sorry, Hymnos, I can't save you. Probably only the Game Master can." Setting that aside for now she continued her search, trying to find fragments of Fina still lying around. If only she could find enough that it was possible to restore her little sister, then everything would be fine. "C'mon, Fina, Minnie still needs you, stupid." Io flew around, trying to sift through the remaining glowing blobs, analyzing the data as quickly as she could.
And then her curiosity was piqued. She found Black Jack's data pack. He was still alive, then? Io snickered to herself. She'd kill him happily once she was out of here as payment for him killing Fina. And the best way to figure out how to defeat your enemy was to learn everything there was to know about them. She touched it, downloading a copy of it into her own mind and wasted no time in viewing the information. One of the Pracer twins, his sister was Jayme Pracer. "So that's who you wanted to protect." She could hear it in her head, Black Jack's sobbing. "Why am I alive? Why can't I die?" He cried to Doctor Grover, who was something like a mother but also like a cruel torturer at the same time.
Jace's brother was Black Jack. Just another reason to kill him, then.
"Ah, there." A precious little blob that felt so utterly familiar. Fina wasn't completely gone! "There you are, sis." It was the memory of Io first waking up in Fina's body, how they first met that day at the Flock. It had barely been a month since then, hasn't it? "You're the only one who was ever nice to me." She continued to search when the same pleasant voice interrupted her. "Do you want to be happy?" Hymnos asked, arms spread wide open. "Are you happy now?" Io shook her head. "No, I'm not. I'll never be." She sighed, continuing to search the Hymnos network for more fragments. "But Fina was, so I have to bring her back."
"I'm sorry.
Maybe this will help you become happy."
....
"Cali." Minnie's voice was faint as she saw the broadcast. Something was very wrong. "Dane, drive us to the GENOS Labs! Maybe something's wrong with her source body!" She could check on Io there too, if there was a way in. "I can get us in." Black Jack assured her, already making his way to group up with Jace. Thankfully the mission was over for today - now it was time to continue the hunt for the Game Master. Dane nodded, twisting the wheel to swerve around, heading for the new destination. "Wait for me there and I can put us in my Stealth Field, okay?" She coul hear the sound of a tea kettle, tea was ready. Minnie would have liked some but she was on a mission now. "I'll report to Lady Reiss, little miss." Jarvis's half mocking drawl came through the earpiece.
Once outside the gates of the GENOS Labs, Black Jack was already there. "Where's Jace?" Dane asked, helping Minnie out of the car, using his arms to brace her as her shaky legs stepped out in an attempt to support her tiny weight. "She isn't here yet." Black Jack confirmed for them, his mask already back on. The two were a bit awkward with each other - one a kidnapper, the other the kidnapping victim. But now they were on the same team with the same goal - take down the Game Master. "I still don't think you should be here." Black Jack told Minnie with a frown. "The mission's over, you should go back home." But the angel shook her head, eyes swimming in pain. "I want to help save Io and Callisto. They're my friends." And friends never abandon each other, that was what she decided.
...........
"I can make her happy." The infected Hymnos touched the unconscious aneurysming Callisto with her tech hands. Her eyes were wide and frantic, seeing a source human not connected to her network made her feel very uncomfortable. Deep inside a part of her was telling her that she needed to bring Calisto into the cyberspace within her, at least for now. "I can put her to sleep, Dr. Grover!" Without even asking for permission, she placed her hands on the interfacing implants on Calisto's back while the doctors tried to work. She had a feeling she could grant someone happiness if she were to do this. "Be happy now Lita, you are safe with Momma."
