Location:The Village of Atlum, Cre Est
Time: High Noon
Life in the nation of Cre' Est which shares the name of the continent upon which she was founded is a series of ups and downs.
Some recent events which have transpired:
Three weeks ago today, the mayor of the village of Atlum died due to mysterious circumstances. Proceedings to replace him were underway by the following morning, and a vote to choose an appropriate successor was announced.
Two and a half weeks ago today, Atlum voted on Sir Broderick Gottlieb to serve as mayor.
Seven days ago today, a horrible thunderstorm with hurricane force winds tore almost fifteen rooftops off of Atlum homes. Reconstruction began the next day after the storm had passed.
And three days ago... A horde of bandits raided the village of Atlum only ten miles to the East. They murdered over thirty male villagers, raped and left violated over forty women and young girls, and burned half of the village to the ground.
Reconstruction of the village has yet to begin, and citizens of Cre' Est are pouring in from near and far to lend their moral and physical support for the villagers. People have come to help clean burned debris, bury the dead and give them last rites, offer gifts and words of consolation to the women and girls who were assaulted, and more.
On this day, Linde Xe' Almna, the "Angelic Knight of Cre' Est," was in Atlum tending to the wounded soldiers who had fought valiantly against the horde but were inevitably overwhelmed. Many of them had horrible burns from trying to save the people in buildings while others had lacerations and broken bones from engaging the bandits directly.
At the moment, miss Almna was tending to a soldier who had just had his left leg removed below the knee due to surgical necessity.
"GAAAAGH!!"
"Shhhhhh, shh, shh, shhhhhh." She cooed.
"This will be over very soon, I promise."
She was wrapping the leg which had been amputated, wrapping tightly to ensure no further blood loss after cauterizing his wound with a lit torch. Not pleasant at all for him, but necessary to save what was left of his leg. After finishing her wrapping of the leg, she bound it tight with twine and helped another villager load him on a stretcher to be carried to the local clinic to be seen by the local doctor of Atlum.
"Is there anyone else?" She called to those around her.
She was currently volunteering for any who needed medical assistance of any kind, and so far it had been seven soldiers and two villagers. But as she searched the crowd, motion on the rooftops nearby caught her attention. And as she looked to the roof, she noticed a familiar silhouette disappear behind a chimney.
"Kyero?" She whispered.
On the rooftop, Kyero, also known as the Red-Eyed Demon, had come to observe the aftermath of the bandit attack. He hid as best he could, given these smaller rooftops and wearing a brown cloak to blend into their wooden roofing, and analyzed the environment for signs of where they might have gone.
"This would be so much easier if I didn't have to hide..." He mumbled to himself.
Beneath his hood, his red eyes flashed brightly before returning to their normal luminosity.
