|| The Ballad of Mona Lisa|| Panic! At the Disco ||
As the Night Raid Helicopter flew alone in the sky, the people of London prepared and waited to hear news of the battle. They gathered at the gates of the Tower Society, just outside Oxford Campus, waiting. Queen Charlotte sat in her wheelchair, her eyes on the horizon. Neither Mason nor Lana would leave her side, together the two watched, waiting. "It should be any time now that our heroes return." Mason said, trying to sound chipper. "They'll all come back, and we'll be here to congratulate them for a job well done." The bell began to ring as the sole helicopter came into view, it's rotors spinning as it soared in the evening sky. "Is that... is there only one?" Mason grit his teeth, staring as the sky, as the citizens began cheering, waving their flags and signs for the heroes that have returned.
Of the one hundred and fifty five soldiers that went to war, only 9 returned, with the three hostages back with them. Christopher Delanore stepped out, a hard look on his face as he helped Doll out. "Get the medical team, there's some people in critical condition." Chris nearly shouted. A gentleman like Chris was rarely ever uncomposed, but it seemed the harrowing experience was stressful even for him. They lost nearly everyone. "Welcome back, heroes." Queen Charlotte said, a serene smile on her face. "Thank you for coming back alive." Her heart stung painfully because there were many, far too many who did not come back. As stretchers came for Flo, for Cal, for Samurai and Nell 2.0, and Ariel too, and Pray, as Silence hobbled around with Shiro helping her walk as she was now blind. The most poignant of all was Crescent Winter's absence. Felton Tyre clenched his fist, the only rookie to return home. His mother looked relieved, but all the other mothers hearts were crushed as their sons and daughters did not return home.
"We have a list of names of the fallen." Chris said to Queen Charlotte as the few survivors still conscious gathered in her office. He presented the list with a grim expression. "I - I see." Charlotte would not cry, not in front of anyone. Even as news papers were already being written away about the victory, the triumphant end of the Third Impact, the Tower Society was nothing but tragic and somber within. "It's over now. It wasn't for nothing." Doll sniffled, feeling more alone than ever. "I'm sorry, Doll." Charlotte's voice was very soft. "You're alone now. Both Melody and Echo are..." Chris put his arm around his wife tighter than ever. "She's not alone. I'm here, and Sonata will get to grow up knowing peace."
Felton Tyre looked at Queen Charlotte, a haunted gaze in his eyes that all the survivors shared. "I brought back Director Crescent's body." He told her quietly. "I - I think she deserves to be buried in her hometown in America." In the beginning Cress and Ellie and Shiro were borrowed from the American Branch due to the increasingly dangerous times in London. Now Shiro was the only one left and she was still sobbing silently into her hands in the corner. "I know it's hard." Charlotte said, looking at each of the survivors in the eyes. "But your duty now is to enjoy the coming peace to make the sacrifices worth it. We're almost there, there's only one step left." They would negotiate peace with the demons of Paris. She would meet with Queen Kitra and begin discussions to have Paris returned to the humans, in exchange for a new home for the demons to live, separated from everyone else.
