"Jake!" I try to warn him of the fast approaching werewolf, but before I can say anymore the creature lunges at both of us. Jake tries to put on an extra boost of speed but the beast catches his foot and we both go tumbling to the ground. I half roll, half skid across the ground, slamming into a fallen tree. "AH!" I cry out, pulling my wrist up to my chest, pain shooting through it. I look at Jake as I start to get up, he's kicking the werewolf off of him, his fangs -FANGS?!- showing. He glances at me as we hear the other werewolf racing towards us. "RUN!" he yells at me. I don't hesitate.

I cradle my hand to my chest and take off, stumbling over roots and other various bits of undergrowth. I've lost my hunting knife somewhere back in the ruckus, probably at the park, but I don't stop to think about it, only cursing myself mentally for losing it. I keep running. The pounding feet of the other werewolf behind me. I want to go back, I want to help Jake, but without my knife I'm useless. So I just keep running, the first few hints of morning starting to appear on the horizon.
