The Weary Wanderers
Shoneah Jain woke in the morning. She got herself dressed and made her way out the door. Her papoose pouch was filled with items for her journey. She had no children yet, so this made a good traveling pack. Her grey eyes scanned the contents to make sure nothing was was forgotten before she strapped it to her back. She'd picked it up from outside, having packed the night before. She'd been planning this excursion for weeks, but she'd waited until late last night to pack. She knew what the Chief and her mother would say about her need for a spirit quest. They believed this was reserved for the men of the tribe. She didn't understand how she could make a good leader, if she did not experience and find out what that was. She considered her father a good leader, but still that didn't mean she couldn't improve things.
She brushed her satiny silver hair out of her face as she walked out the door and down a nearby path. She had only gone about five miles down the path when she made out a figure in the distance....
