Eva didn't have any reason to want to maim, insult, or generally dislike him yet. Jareth thought this with some amount of twisted amusement but didn't verbalize the thought.

"Better to show me. If anything, I might be able to use the mirror to check up on a few things. Since none of this is real there shouldn't be any unusual reactions." Jareth mused.

Getting to his feet Jareth grunted and had Eva lead him to where the mirror in question was. The truth of the matter was that he could have probably done very well finding his way around the house himself being that it was his illusion, but it seemed more polite somehow to let Eva lead. Part of his charity in the present seemed largely rooted in the fact that Jareth was injured and perhaps not feeling as self indulgently confident as usual. Certainly if he had been more himself the Goblin King would have ignored Eva's presence almost completely and instead referred Hoggle to take care of the intruder and set Eva on her proper way. No. Jareth did not interact with other people lightly and if they wanted his attention they almost always had to have some kind of representative at their backs indicating his assistance or hinderence.

Granted one Sarah Williams had been a different story. In her case, Sarah had inadvertently invoked the power of the goblins who, bound by magical laws, had spewed into the Above world to take possession of what they interpreted to be an unwanted human child. Jareth had never questioned the girls ability to do so. He'd only dealt with the demands of her position after the fact and when Sarah Williams ask had been acomplished the girl had gone home and Jareth had gone back to governing his kingdom.

Eva was a different case entirely and the expectations of Jareth's involvement in her situation was unclear.

When Eva directed them to the correct part of the house it became immediately clear that the mirror that had set Eva into the Underground was the central object in the room. In fact Jareth found he instantly didn't trust it in the sense that the damn thing gave off the strange impression that it was waiting for someone to interact with it, or at least, that's what it seemed like to him.

"Well I can certainly see how this family heirloom could be a likely suspect. Granted it looks ordinary enough." Jareth muttered. "If it really is a portal like you say then that means there has to be another one somewhere belonging to somebody. Although I couldn't say who that somebody is. I don't keep any myself. They're not exactly a safe for nor useful to many people.

Jareth didn't bother getting too close to the thing at first even though it was attractive enough. "I must admit, now having seen it, I'm almost inclined not to try and touch it."

Logically the mirror was an illusion like everything else. But then hardly anything in the underground was governed by logic it seemed. A very tiny drop of doubt plagued the Goblin King just then. As if somehow he wondered in that moment just how much control he really had over the events unfolding around him.
