Today was a special day, indeed. One of the rare times ShipX appeared early, before the scheduled drop off day for supplies. Reason why was because of the new arrivals.

“We have some new ones coming in today, Grego,” Ace stately smoothly, leaning up against a warehouse wall with his arms crossed peacefully. His eyes were closed, ears focusing on the music that could be heard playing from the middle of the Community dome. Jazz, one of Ace’s favorite genres. The warehouse he and his friend Grego were inside was what Ace would refer to as ‘home’ now. It was where he worked and spent most of his time anyway. When the intercom sounded that ShipX had arrived in the docking zone, Ace perked up, eyes opening with a smile across his face. Time for some fun, he thought as he grabbed the keys to his truck, running out the warehouse door to the connected garage. Inside the garage was one of the largest, most lucrative secret stash of vehicles Ace and his men have yet to collect. On the walls around the many different vehicles were weapons galore. Their black market collection in a way gained them the respect of some dangerously powered people, giving them protection and power. Those that didn’t know of their back garage knew of the front store where people could come in and buy metal parts and old electronic systems. If Ace wasn’t out bringing supplies in from the Ship, he could be found in the store’s front selling goods to local customers. He was pretty well-known on Mars, people knowing his name Ace when he would be at bars or food stations. Some thought of him as a punk, others thought of him cool as fuck. Hate him or love him, he knew how to get under your skin.

Hopping into his truck, he took the back gate out that led to the long connection tunnel, the highway one needed to take to get to the loading dock. His music was loud, window rolled down, as he sped down the inside paved road, a long strip of lanes back and forth between the Community dome and the Loading dome. His goggles were pulled down over his eyes, a special computer data system coded inside the lenses. Numbers ran up and down the right side of the screen, while he currently had it set on surveillance mode. In this mode, body heat impulses could track bursts of powers from others around. This mode was handy when in a situation where he didn’t know someone’s strength or ability. Already driving half way down the highway, he got to the point where he saw a Humvee on the opposite side of the road. It was turned the wrong direction, and there were skid marks showing their sharp tracks. Immediately Ace was interested, slowing his speed down to get a better look at what was away from him. A men and a woman got out of the vehicle, expressions of confusion across their face. On top of it all, the goggles covering his eyes were picking up signals, a dark red aura of heat seeming to glow around the girl. It meant she used a significant amount of energy recently, aka, she must have used a power. The man on further inspection appeared to be none other than Jasen himself. He had met him in the past, but never was interested at socializing with him any more than that. He knew of Leon and his team pretty well, they got the newbies off the ship. This girl he was with must be one of the newcomers. Whatever she could do, Ace was going to figure it out. If she was responsible for their breakdown, her ability had to have been interesting. The suave flirt inside of him would corner her later, get her to peep up. Piece of cake. Meanwhile, Ace continued to drive, not stopping to aid them in any way. He was on a time schedule, had to meet his teammates at the unloading dock to get their metal supplies.

Ace reached down, turning the music off. Clicking the speak button on his ear mic, he radioed one of men already by the ship. “Davis, almost there. Everything ready? I want this to be quick this time around. Last time was a close call,” he spoke through the mouth piece, Davis hearing him on the other end. The close call from last time was when Ace almost got caught turning a couple old car batteries invisible, almost. This time he was planning on having his truck closer to the Ship so that he could get the materials in faster. If Leon was still there at the dock managing the rest of the newcomers, then Ace would need to be extra watchful. Of course, if he was still there, he would love to confront him. One pastime of Ace’s was too see how much he could rally Leon up; the guy’s uptight personality always gave Ace a hearty laugh.

He finally made it to the other dome, out of the long tunnel highway. The ShipX was there, just as massive and impressive as it usually is. He parked his truck next to Davis’s van, another vehicle that would be used in this shipment scam. Sure, they paid for most of their supplies, but when Ace could ‘invisiblize’ expensive objects every now and then, he would save them money, which was very tight on Mars. Ace was good at this vanishing act, never getting caught, it was just how it went. Seeing Davis, Ace got out of the truck and patted the man on the back, letting him know he was there.

“Let’s get this going, man,” he joked, lifting up the goggles from his face. Ace then looked across the way, seeing Leon and the rest of his crew, of course, and the rest of the newbies. There were only five over there, plus the one he saw on the tunnel highway. Only six this time? Huh, he thought, the amount of malformed humans arriving on this planet seeming to decrease slightly. Technology must have been getting better on earth, making more perfect DNA’s. Ah well, six newcomers was more than enough to keep the next few weeks interesting. For now, he would stand his ground and get the show on the road.

Katrina held on tightly to the Humvee as it skid to a halt after some impressive driving by Jasen. She was shaking when it finally came to a stop, confused on how she managed to do that. She was thinking she wanted the radio to bust, but when it actually did, it didn’t seem possible. “I am not so sure,” she muttered, heart beating fast, glad that she was alive and that the vehicle didn’t flip. Listening to what he said, she got out of the now shut down vehicle. She was in a way mad at herself, for she wanted to get to the Community dome, and because of her... outburst, they were at a road block.

“I don’t like country music,” she said in a frustrated tone, leaning up against the vehicle. Her back could feel the waves from the Humvee, as if they were speaking to her. She was beginning to see that she could communicate with electronics in ways she never knew she could. It was kind of exciting, she had to admit, but still very scary that she was responsible for this. “I’m sorry,” she then said, tilting her head down and looking at the ground with t. “If it makes you feel any better, nothing is wrong with your Humvee... Don’t ask me how I know that, because I’m not quite sure myself,” she added, walking over to where he was standing. He was looking under the hood, at all the inner workings. Katrina didn’t know much about car parts, but she could feel the electrical connections buzzing, the battery humming softly. On... she thought, closing her eyes tightly then opening them up again. The vehicle began to come back to life, engine turning on by itself. It made a reving noise, letting it be known that it was still working. She managed to get it back on, but there was no hope for the fried radio. She smiled, looking up at the older soldier beside her. She stayed quiet after that, waiting for how he would react to the Humvee coming back on again. The urge to want to get to her destination was fueling her power, letting it come naturally from her body as if she knew how to work it all along, though that was still not the case.
