Then he chuckled a little, knowing fully well that he was only being antagonistic. "Listen, if *I* was a threat, if I was your enemy then do you think i would have approached you of my own volition? That which staggers us is that which we never see coming." And he smiled with pointed eye-teeth, and warm eyes.

"There is strength in numbers young one." He was almost pleading with her now. "If you need somewhere to stay, I have a room at the Inn here. I'm just passing through on my way to the capital city." His last statement held a mild degree of malice to it, as if whatever business he had to attend in the capital would most certainly be gruesome and laborious.
