The Lake

Leaving soon after Jenson, she noticed that Jenson had followed Zack's, scent and was with him now. Deciding that she wouldn't want to intrude, Torrie tilted her head back. She breathed in the clean air and the smell of her packmates. Noticing that most were also with humans she left them alone. She walked off seeking solitude at the lake.

When she arrived undercover of the forest she decided not to change. Walking over to the edge of the lake and sitting down, Torrie noticed another human. She looked like she wanted to go swimming, but it was way too cold for any normal human. Torrie watched the girl closely, deciding that if she sensed anything wrong from her, when she entered the water, to jump in after her. She also could smell other humans and a close pack member nearby. She closed her eyes and laid back on the ground looking at the sky, and just waiting for her instincts to decide what she would do next.

Torrie smiled as the sun hit her face. Times like this were the only ones that really made her smile, besides earlier. Times in the sun just relaxing, normally spent as a wolf, made her thoughts just hum, and not really be there. She was surrounded with the sun's light and the bird's songs; the rustleing of the wind through the trees, and the smell of the earth. It was so familliar, and it made her feel at home. The one thing she truely liked about being a wolf, was the time she spent outside.

As a human she had beeen 'protected' from outside. Her parents never wanted her to be the tomboy that she now was. They wanted her to be a lady, dress like a lady and, act like a lady; she never knew anything else. She liked being stuck inside, except to go to church on Sundays or go shoping with her mother. Or when she was being courted , go wherever they were going. She never really paid attention to the outside world, and thinking back on it probbably wouldn't have ever, until she grew old and didn't know what else to do.

But all that had changed, when Laurence had chosen her as his mate. She knew him since she was a teenager, and she had liked him. They had chatted once or twice, but she never grew fond of him, whatsoever, beyond liking talking to him. He however, had grown obsesed and had reassured himself that she felt the same way. When he found out she was engaged to Roman, he had freaked out. He'd thought, for sure, that she was being forced to marry Roman, against her will. He bit her the night before the wedding was suppose to occur, and of course it happened to be a full moon. She became the wolf she now loved, but at the time she hated all wolves. Then when she returned to her normal self in the morning, and went to Roman, she arrived just in time to see Laurence punch through his chest,tare out his heart, bite his head clean off, and rip him limb from limb. The whole time saying, "You wont have my Lovely Ashley! She is mine and I am her's! We were meant to be together, forever!"

Upon witnessing the bloody scene, Victoria, had gone into a rage, killing Laurence in the same fashion. When they found her, she was in a corner covered in blood. They didn't think she had done it, but that she had survived, and had cleaned her off. A few years later her parents had both died, leaving her with their great fortune, and no relatives. She claimed the money and put all of it into the banks, and now had acquired a large fortune. She had everything she had wanted in life, and now it meant nothing. All she wanted now was to enjoy the last year of her life. She changed her name to Victoria soon after her parents death.

"Oh that's nice." he said in response to her reply, "Perhaps I'll get to sit on them too some time."

He winced at his own joke, regretting it almost immediately. Fortunately she either ignored it or didn't hear, and told him her name.

"Nice to have met you Torrie." he said sincerely, trying to control the torrent of thoughts swimming around his head. "I'm Kier. Any particular thing bring you to Willow Falls? I mean it's not a place many people come to fulfill dreams, I can testify to that."

Torrie smiled as he made a joke about him being sweaty. She thought about his offer and decided that it would be ok. She nodded her head and said, "Um I don't mind waiting at your house, unless you don't want me to see your place. If so how does the grill sound?" She smiled at him in one of her sweetest smiles, and wondered why he was reacting so differently to her then Zack had. She looked the same, and they were about the same age. Maybe it was because of the setting that they meet in. She stood up, and started walking towards town.
