Adam Winters's Story

Jessica smiled as her name was called. She took a deep breath and stood up from the chair she was sitting on, pushing past the few students next to her. It wasn't a surprise. She had been a commander of a squad for the past three years, why should there be a difference?
She walked carefully on stage, taking her time so that she could look at the students and try to find who would be a good fighter and who wouldn't. She reached the center, next to Phoenix and Dr. Larken. She gave a slight head nod to Phoenix, and looked at Dr. Larken. "Dr."
She smiled, ready to take on whatever students she could. And maybe, she thought, i won't get anyone with knowledge and I'll be able to train them to be like me.

Dr. Larken gave a slight smirk as the girl came on stage, giving each a slight smirk. "And for your armies," he said, "Jessica is going to have an extra member, for the time being, but when another comes she will be put on your team, Phoenix."

"So. The Griffin army is Angel Sunico, James Firestone, Alex Kennedy, Rachel Kyle, Yerlim Kang and of course Phoenix." He said, watching as the students in the crowd stood up to come on stage. "And the Tiger army is Anthony Laurence, Shellie Daniels, Noare, Yijung Kang, Adam Winters, Kyle Averegus and of course Jessica."

Anthony's heart speed up as his army was announced. That was it, almost like a band-aid pulling itself off really quick. He stood, his eyes finding the other Tiger army members. A single thought struck him then; these would be the people who he'd either win with or die with. It couldn't be both.

Adam Winters, skinny and tall for his age, smiled as his placement in the Tiger army was announced. Excitement shot through him. He had waited for this day for a long time.

It felt like something Ace couldn't describe to be in the Tiger barracks. It was where he would belong and he felt like he belonged. The best advice that he had learned during his years was not to let people know what you're thinking. A thousand thoughts shot through his head, but he said nothing. His eyes glanced up between his team members, but he didn't mutter a hello. Instead, he stood silently and waiting.

Adam smiled as he arrived at the Tiger Barracks. "Hi!" He smiled enthusiastically. "I'm Adam." He wanted to make friends as soon as possible. He did good that way. He needed someone there, anyone really.

Ace turned to Adam who was listening intently, his eyes as big as soft balls. "Wow," he whispered. Ace half smiled and turned away, looking around the room.

"Y-yes, ma'am," he answered, a little shyly. "I'm looking forward to, ugh, working with you I guess." He swallowed, hoping that he made a good first impression. He had to be perfect, just as his father had always told him.

Ace watched Adam, getting a feel of his character. It was strange thinking of a boy his age going into battle. Then again, they were all that age at one point.

"Y-yes, it is." He tugged at his jacket. "You can call me Cole if you want," he added in quickly.

Cole smiled, he always liked when people asked him this. "I can remember e-everything." It was the only way he could really put it. It was how his parents and the people at the facility had put it. "I have a unique memory. I can access a larger part of the memory cell."

"Yes! Exactly! I know entire maps and um... words spoken and sentences word for word!" Cole smiled happily. Hopefully she was impressed. That would be a good sign. His older brother had told him stories about them kicking him out if he wasn't 'interesting' enough.

Ace turned at the mention of Adam's ability. What he wouldn't give to remember... everything. "It is extraordinary," he agreed, more to himself than anyone.

"Well...," Cole trailed off. His eyes looked to LeeU and back to Jessica. "Pretty good." It was nearly the truth. His brothers and sister hated him. They were jealous of him because he was praised by his parents for being the only child with an extraordinary gift. He had been picked on ever since his gift became known. The 'special' child his parents had called him, but he'd much rather be normal. He wanted to fit in. "Bad things happen to everyone..."

"That's true," Ace agreed quietly, smiling slightly at the boy. He could read everything in his face, in his words. He knew Adam/Cole had been lying, but he would never call him out on it. Those memories are probably best kept away from the surface... he knew that much from experience.

"Bad things happen to everyone," LeeU repeated the little boy's words. Poor kid. LeeU ruffled the kid's hair. Cole was an open book. There wasn't a need to study him or ask him questions. It was there for him to just read it. He stopped himself. There wasn't any need to pry.

"Wise words, my friend." He grinned at the kid. "You just stick with us. Maybe we'll have some fun times, hmm?" The Korean ran a hand through his own hair. "Mind if I do some push ups? I'm getting antsy, just standing here."

Without waiting for an answer, he was on the floor instantly, doing push ups at lightening speed. Physical exercise always got rid of the memories.

After doing fifty, he sat up and flashed his signature grin at everyone. He was really starting to like these people
