This is because they're her 'security blanket' and she's afraid of being alone.
History: Kira grew up in the upper middle class, but she was also raised in a strict environment. She was expected succeed in everything she did and her life was basically mapped out for her. However, Kira became pretty clever and found ways to get what she wanted. She secretly wanted her parents' love but never got it and it harden her heart a bit as a result. When the time came for her to chose a career, she wanted to become a baker because she loves to cook and use to get cooking lessons from her family's cook. Her parents disapproved and this was the only time she completely rebelled and was cut off. The effect of this devastated her, but she moved on and is now a successful baker at a cafe. She also is engaged to one of the other workers and believes she's marrying him for money because she wants that security. What she didn't expect was all the feelings she was feelings.
