"The Shikaku want you dead, so I want you alive."
Nickname: None
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Height: 175cm
Weight: 150 lb
Sexual Orientation: straight
Likes: tea, ice cream, defeating Shikaku members, wiping the smug faces off of those OBVIOUSLY arrogant Shikaku members, a good night's sleep, ~Destroyer~
Dislikes: His constant requirment of paranoia (Because the Shikaku are obviously cowards, so they'll definitely try to kill him in his sleep), the Shikaku, judgemental thinking, fighting long ranged people.
Fears: Seeing an innocent killed before him (The Shikaku do not count, they are obviously hypocritical murders who deserve to die), ambushes, water.
Group: He considered joining Chikyuu no Mirai, but he found them much too soft and naive when it came to the Shikaku.
Partner: Nope. He's actually feeling quite lonely, but he'll never admit it outright.
Race: Human
Magic:
Gungnir: Matthew rears back and takes a position as if he was preparing to punch someone. Hard. During this time, he charges magic in his fist before shooting it foward in a blast. This attack is powerful, but it has a shortcoming in that it takes about two seconds to charge, which translates to "might as well not use this at all" when he's directly facing an enemy one on one. It does make for some dynamic entrances though.
Rheingold - The Ordinal Night: this is his more often used magic - it is a passive magic which is, in a nutshell, regeneration. It does not take away pain; oh no, but it will quicken it's recovery and lessen the pain he feels from it. Rheingold also prioritizes life threatening injuries - if you sever arteries or damage his heart, for instance, recovery will be VERY swift. Painful for him, but swift. He is by no means immortal, but the recovery rate makes the actual injury of his heart or brain that much more difficult. That, and adding in his mobility and swiftness as a hand to hand fighter, and you would probably have better luck trying other means.
Bölverkr: This is his main offensive magic, in which he uses magical energy to enhance his physical attacks. By utilizing this spell, he is able to enhance his attacks, giving it stronger strength and giving him a fighting chance against magically enhanced opponents.
Megido Arts: Not a magical power, but his main style of fighting. His favoured style of fighting, Megido Arts, invovles him overwhelming his opponent's reactions with attacks from various angles before finally exploiting an opening and using both momentum gained from previous attacks and Bölverkr to deliver a crushing blow to his opponent.
Weakness(es) - Defeating Matthew is counter intuitive: DON'T aim for his vitals. Don't try to go for his heart. Don't try to go for his head. If you do, Rheingold will probably mitigate enough damage even as the sword is thrusting in, thus making the wound non-fatal - still life threatening, but non fatal, and safe enough to recover quickly. Instead, go for his arms and legs - immobilize him with pain. Neutralize his combat, and he's as good as helpless.
Equipment - Two brass knuckles normally hidden under his sleeve.
Personal Description: Just imagine a really really geeky cosplayer. No? Oh well, here goes. Imagine a brown haired man who wears a black coat and pants with a few additional belts that appear to have no practical reason. Underneath that coat, he wears a gray t-shirt. He likes to look mysterious and as such usually tries to have his hair cover his eyes. Completing that strange look is a chain necklace he wears around his neck, but he has attachment to that necklace. Insult it at your peril.
Personality: First things first. If you believed Matthew to be a really good person who just wants to protect the innocent from Shikaku, you would be very wrong. He sticks by people being targeted by Shikaku because they would attract the attention of - you guessed it - Shikaku. He does want to protect the innocent from that organization, but that is purely out of obligation to the single one person who could say he just wanted to protect her without being wrong. When it comes to matters that don't concern debates about the inherent goodness and evilness of people, on the other hand, he becomes a rather gentle person, much like he was before she was killed. If you taunt him about his past failure enough, he will become enraged to the point of irrational and start acting wildly, even against opponents he would be heavily outclassed by.
History: At the very beginning, Matthew didn't seem like he was bound for much. He lived in a mid-sized town, went to school and had one or two magical abilities just like the rest of the humans. Well, that might have been the case had his friend not been a rather powerful mage. She practiced her abilities, which excelled that of everyone in her class - her school, even - by far. Matthew didn't mind, she was his friend. He knew she was a good person; she wouldn't hurt anyone with those abilities.
Some people thought otherwise.
When they were 16, a group of hoodlums began harassing the two, even outright attacking Matthew when he tried to fend them off. Scared and confused, his friend unleashed her magical power, killing one hoodlum and scaring off the other. Matthew shook that off and complimented her, thanking her for saving the two of them. What he didn't know was that, by next morning, the girl would be dead, killed by the Shikaku.
It was only later when he found out what fully happened. Apparently, the hoodlums ran off and "ratted her out" to the nearest Shikaku members. Because the hoodlums were honest and told them what fully happened - I mean, come on, they're such good boys, OF COURSE they would tell the Shikaku about how they harassed her first and she was only retaliating out of fear - including the part where she killed one of their friends, the Shikaku deemed her a threat and eliminated her. That was the end of her life, and Matthew's future as a ho hum citizen. Taking the first step on his revenge, he ambushed the same Shikaku members with Gungnir before beating them down as they were disoriented. Before they could get back up, he ran - from the scene, from the town, from everything. Travelling around from place to place, he since then stuck by people who he knew the Shikaku would target - because wherever they went, the Shikaku were sure to follow.
