The Queen Bee... it's a title that fits her well, and one that she holds tightly to, because she knows so many people covet it. Power is something that most people are attracted to, and for London, that is exceedingly true. She feels like the only place worth being is at the top, because not only are you untouchable when you're there, but you can ruin other people. She's the kind of girl who definitely has the ability to let the power get the best of her, especially considering that she's secretly very sensitive and takes criticism poorly, but at the same time, she does a good job at maintaining a very composed front. You won't ever catch her crying, or even cussing someone out. She knows how to keep a poised smile on her face and is skilled at getting back at people in dirty ways, that are usually hard to trace back to her directly. She is undeniably manipulative, ruthless and petty, but in a very calculated way. She doesn't let her emotions get the best of her and in fact, usually prefers to act like she has no emotions. No real ones anyone. None that will allow her to seem too vulnerable or weak.
A diva to an extent, she knows what she wants, and she will refuse to accept anything short of that as being satisfactory. London not only thinks that she deserves the world, but knows it, and it's what has led her to have an elevated level of confidence and determination. It would be a futile attempt at assassinating her character to claim that she's a spoiled brat who won't work for anything, and expects everything to be handed to her. No, London is more than that. She doesn't live in some disillusioned fairy tale world where her problems are the biggest ones in the universe. She understands what hard work means and she knows how to do it. However, like most kids attending the school (at least those on scholarships...), it's also not fair to say that she has worked for everything that she has. London will never know what the face of poverty looks like. She will never live paycheck to paycheck, and she will probably never have to even work to get a job at the same extent that those without connections will. She likes to think that she's capable of building a name for herself on her own, and she's intelligent enough to, but she just will never have to. It's a blessing, that's for sure, and it's not like she's complaining about it, but it's an undeniable advantage that she has over peers of lesser classes as well. Fitting to her title, London likes the social world and is active in the social scene. She enjoys partying, events and interacting with other people, so long as they're situations that are in her comfort zone.
History:
Before transferring to Crossroads Academy, London lived in New York, and called a grand beachfront estate in Sagaponack home since the day of her birth. The same can't be said about her nine months post-conception, and she'd never tell you because she thinks it's incredibly tacky, but she's actually named after the beautiful city that her parents conceived her in. Gross, she knows. She doesn't even know how her parents recalled that it was London where she was created, considering how frequently the pair travels. Her parents co-own the top industrial architectural company in the country, and expanded internationally shortly before her birth. Rather than settle down as a stay-at-home mother as many women in financially safe places do when they have children, London's mother, Marie, opted against that traditional route. She loved her daughter but loved working as well, and therefore, opted against raising her full time. In Marie's own words, she was a "part time mom" and a "full time businesswoman". The involvement that her father, David, had in her life was even less, but since London never knew any different, she spent most of her life not knowing that it was unusual to be raised by nannies. This was especially true, considering that she was homeschooled for the first ten years of her life. She had friends because of her parents social connections, but wasn't constantly around kids to a point where she realized that her parents absences were abnormal and might have an affect on her development.
For her sixth grade year, her parents transferred her to Crossroads Academy in California. Since boarding options were only offered to students in the upper school, her parents were "forced" to purchase a home in Manhattan Beach and a nanny was hired to act as a guardian to her since her parents continued to travel and develop their careers. They were not strangers to London, but at the same time, it's difficult to call people who are home for maybe a week out of every month, active parents. To say that London thrived at Crossroads would be an understatement, really. It was the first time that she was in school with other children, and had actual peers, and she seized the opportunity as if she was never going to have it again. She quickly climbed up the social ladder in a manner that seemed greedy and heartless, really. She felt like she had years of catching up to do from being deprived a normal schooling situation and now that she was at Crossroads and had real, life competition, she never wanted to let go of it. When she made it to ninth grade, her parents declared that it was necessary for her to dorm at the school, since they were selling their Manhattan Beach house, in favor of purchasing a home in Bel-Air. Since ninth grade, London has lived on campus and though she would definitely prefer a house, she also isn't in a place to be complaining about her life. She basically runs the school's social system, gets good grades, has friends, and thinks that she's happy... so what more could she want?
