Haven City University

William wakes and looks at the clock,"Damn late again" he grabs his bags and heads off slamming the door behind him. Advanced science is shown next to the door he now stand in front of. He opens the door slowly and sneaks his way to the back of class.

"Late again i see mister Hawkeye." the professor says as he writes on the board.

"Yeah sorry sir, i was helping some old lady cross the street and lost track of time."

"im sure you did, now class as i was saying when this liquid is heated it lets off an scent that will render any person or creature unconscious for about 2 to 4 hours."

Ved smiles with delight thinking to himself" Ill just borrow some of that, it can definitely help later."
After class Ved swipes a few vials of the liquid and heads back to his dorm.

Kat wakes up and gets dressed, she had a long week and get is getting longer as it went " Now to get that job " She said even knowing that she could get killed. kat was a bit unhappy with how that day was going but still she hoped it would he better.She made her way the Haven UUniversity and to the dean's office to get her new job

" are you sure your willing to take this job young lady" the man said

" yes I know the danger and I am willing to do it all the same "

" you have a impressive resume... I see you have a miner degree in demonology, a maters degree in wildlife biology" the man looks up at her you more suited for teaching and for guard duty.... are you sure that you want this job " the man asked

" yes... yes I am " Kat said taking a deep breath

" then You got the job" deen stood up and shook her hand and we'll have you sub once and awhile if you dont mind " the man ased

" thank you and I dont mind at all " Kat ran out the door so happy that she starts her new job tonight. it was not long until she made her way out of the building. after a bit of walking she had gotten her self lost once again, but this time she saw someone she noticed someone she knew. " will.. will!! " she shouted as she ran over to him " hey I need you help I've gotten lost again can you show me the way out "

Cato excitedly scribbled down notes as the lecturer for demon history discussed the first appearance of the demon lord. He'd done his research and read every article he could get his hands on, but still, even on the first day he was finding new information. Cato stole a quick glance at his classmates who looked both bored and confused, I guess this class wasn't for everyone. Most of the people here, provide the graduated, would end up working for the H.O.D.A. He'd have to be extremely careful, yesterday he revealed his power to one person and more than hinted at it to another, mistakes like that could end with him being lobotomized. Cato shuddered and returned to his notes, that wouldn't happen, he could keep his head down.

Anyway, things were going well so far, when he'd woken up his head was still attached to his body and he'd even made it out the door without any awkward conversation with Will. The introduction and icebreaker games were mercifully short and soon he was knee deep in demon history, mythology, anatomy, and even culture. For now he was happy and relatively safe, as long as he remained alert he was confident he could stay that way. Then again this was Haven....

Jane stared at the lecturer as things began to get in depth. She went over this several times, wondering if this introduction was simply for the sake of the new comer. The newcomer. Something about him was strange... Something similar to her situation? Could he be like her? With the strange occurrence with the demons and powers. It was possible he needed answers too, yet he could just be interested in getting a major in Demonology. She sighed, glancing at the clock each time.

As class ended, she slung her bag around her shoulder, wandering around the school grounds. Next thing she knows, she sees that same shady guy and that frantic girl she had seen at the cafe. She raised an eyebrow, were they students? Or was there something going on? She shrugged it off, contact may lead suspicions, if so, she didn't want to raise any thing. She was already registered in H.O.D.A, she didn't want to be registered as one of the targets. She heard of rumors... rumors of those who are unstable, they get sent away. Away where they're tested. She only hoped those rumors weren't true.

She shuddered for a moment, all these thoughts of rumors and tests were scaring her. Maybe she should just sketch or something to calm herself down.

Kat smiles as she smells the flower " Thank you and goodbye " She put the flower in her hair and starts to walk off the grounds of the university and back to the plaza. when she got there she was a bit worried that the hunter was around so she put on some sun glasses and a hat on, that she had in her over sized purse that she most always seemed to have with her. " I need to stay out of sight " She went on her way getting all that she needed for her new job.

"its practically suicide alone since this thing can be anyone at any time. Even a team of hunters failed to take this down. They on the other hand were friends, and would never hurt each other, but im sure you would have no problem killing me."

Will hands Cato a pistol" Take this just in case. If it comes to a battle of who is who shot us both the rounds have a charge that will stop the demon from changing."

They hurry off to the university and Kat's shift is just about to start."First we need to get the girl out of here. After that it should be just us and the demon."

They arrive at the guards station, Will opens the door slowly" Shes not here? Hopefully shes just running late. We'll wait here for a few, and if that thing hasn't gotten her first well fill her in on the details."

Cato quietly followed Will, feeling a mixture of fear, guilt and excitement. He was hunting a demon, he could die. Kat was in danger, she could die and it would be his fault. But even so, it was an adventure and he was getting deeper into the cursed part of Haven, the dark, corrupted world that kept calling to him. Cato smiled, live or die he couldn't deny this rush.

The search wasn't going well, it seemed Will was counting on Kat to lead them to the demon. At this stage she was already in a great deal of danger. They had to find it now. Cato, cleared his mind and focused. 12 years ago, during the demon raids, his mother had taught him a "trick", to detect demons. At first he felt nothing. Slowly a feeling of dread and panic crept up on him, the feeling of something being wrong, he shivered. "It's here" he turned to Will "and it's close." He pulled the gun out of his jeans, "ready?"

Kat stood the in fear not sure what to do " Ceto.. " every fiber of her being screamed in fear " what are you doing " The shadow filled her with sadness, and a sence of being out of place. Kat did not know what to do or what to say. kat looked at the imposster, this fake copy of her and frowned " We meat in the plaza Cafe and I met will there two.... you told me of this job "

Cato let out a quick laugh of relief and released Kat while at the same time doubling his efforts to restrain the demon. "Sorry Kat" he managed weakly "I was running out of time and.." he glared at Will "I didn't have many options..." He returned his attention to the shapeshifter, he honestly didn't want to kill it, its abilities were fascinating and its knowledge of demons would probably be even more so. Still, it had killed so many people and Kat would have been its next target. Cato pulled out his gun, "let's finish this."

"Please" cried the impostor, "you don't understand! I had no choice, every form I took I only took to protect myself, to hide!" Cato faltered, was this even a demon? He knew the facts but he just couldn't shoot a helpless girl in cold blood, and on top of that she looked just like Kat. For a moment Cato's concentration wavered. The shapeshifter smiled, a horrible and grotesque smile the literally reached from ear to ear and lunged at Cato breaking free from his shadow.

The demon collided with him before he could even raise his gun and knocked him to the ground, sending the weapon flying out of reach. The monster opened its now hideous maw, to reveal serrated teeth and an a lizard like tongue. It was unbelievably strong and easily held held him down, as it went for the kill.

Jane was just feet away before reaching the four, freezing in her spot when the demon revealed it's hideous mouth. She lost her voice, simply staggering forward, maybe to help, hoping to do something. She flinched when the monster jumped off the boy and onto the girl. She closed her eyes. The sound of flesh ripping and blood dripping would accompany soon, and hearing was better rather than seeing. She heard nothing of that, her eyes fluttering open as she scanned the area.

The demon seemed to be the only one in pain, it beauteously strange to her. Her left hand (her right hand was stained with her blood) reached for the hunter, grasping the fabric of his shirt as her knees felt like they'd turn to goo. She tugged almost roughly, finding the courage to find her voice once more. "There's more than o-one.." She murmured, her eyes fluttering as she felt body giving out progressively.

"Kat!!!" cried Cato, as he scrambled to his feet, the demon was too close it was over. Suddenly the monster's head exploded showering the group with a foul sticky black mess. The demon's headless body struggled on the ground and then stopped moving entirely. "Kat are you okay?!" he called running over to her. She seemed shaken but otherwise unharmed,"you did it" he smiled and hugged her "we're safe!"

Well, at least he thought they were until he heard a noise from Will's direction. He turned to see an injured girl collapse against Will, had the shapeshifter done that? Cato froze, he could sense another demon, the overwhelming sense of fear could be nothing else.

"What a night this is going to be." Will said resting his sword on his shoulder.

"Cato, Kat take this girl now! Take her to the hospital and keep, and tell them she was attacked by a dog or something. We cant let the wrong people know what happened here." Will picks up the gun and puts it in his jacket. Then takes some of the girls blood and rubs it on himself.

"Demons smell blood so take this opportunity to move swiftly. Im going to fight who ever hurt her"

She flinched at the hands touching her face, smearing the blood off of her pale face. Her eyes fluttered open once more, looking around as the area seemed to spiral. She could see the three, their figures silhouetted by the darkness. She could see her blood on the hunter, his dialogue now being audible to her. "I'm going to fight who ever hurt her."

She attempted to sit up from the ground to protest his plan, only to no avail as she cringed. Her head pounded as she remained awake. Wanting to speak to them, tell them her experiences, but her voice was once again lost. She eventually shut her eyes, knowing she could be question at the hospital. She let the wave of rest overcome her, passing out onto the spot.

Larken only spat and took a wide stance akin to that of a lineman in the NFL, bracing himself to counter whatever the young hunter had in store for him with brute force. He watched closely as the hunter lunged at him whilst allowing the blade to drag through the pavement, he instantly recognized it as nothing more than a display to mask the true attack for dragging the blade in such a manner did little more than to hinder the momentum of a swing. The moment the hunter's wrist began to arch with upward momentum he dug into the ground and lunged his right hand forward to catch the blade but incidentally caught a fiery punch instead, stopping the hunter and his sneak attack cold in their tracks as his gauntlets continued to blaze with flames. He smiled at the shocked expression on the hunter's face, clearly he was expected that sneaky attack to do some damage.

" Heh " he grunted " wrong choice " Largen's hand clamped onto the gauntlets and the fires were snubbed out and with great force and speed he cocked back his left, firing it off as yanked the boy towards him so his face would collide with his fist, causing greater damage with both their momentum. A direct hit to the skull like that after he's fed would kill damn near any living creature walking the earth, fortunately for the hunter the girl had escaped before he could ingest her blood, his punches could still kill a human but there was a chance a battle savvy man like him would survive it. Though he likely wouldn't be standing afterwards.
